Last time my cousin surfed trail 1, he was circled by a baby white, still was longer than his 6 foot board. He went in, checked his suit for leakage lol, hasn't been back since.. that was 2020, just before covid.

I hung with Jay and Buttons a couple times on Oahu in the late 70s. Jay took the crowd by surprise at the skateboard trick competition at civic center on Oahu. What athleticism and power. Buttons’ body never seemed higher than 4 feet. He stayed so low with extreme force and grace. Sorry to year Jay Adams is gone from the earth but on to another life.

Guido would have been ripping out there, but he left us last year for good. Avery is also gone.

@@fredericschilling6416 ya brother he got out of the feds in 2014 and was doing good for awhile and in 2015 he went down to Mexico to surf Puerto him Allen Sarlo, Solo and his wife Tracy he was out in the water and he told the boys he was gonna go to the room and lay down because he was having chest pains and Tracy woke up in the middle of the night and said Jay was cold he passed away with the love of his life not long after Jays paddle out in Venice she left for the islands the North Shore and moved in with big Shawn Bailey and his wife and family SHES moved into another house with her gf said it reminds her so much of Jay he took her over there quit a bit sad shit.

It's hard to believe that there are so many kooks out there that are taking off on people and even worse they don't know how to ride it once they've dropped in on someone.

Lol it’s Venice. Not some super secret spot in Waikiki. It’s a crappy right that works okay 2 times a year. There was a million times better surf at most spots around so cal that swell. Who cares if they said where it was. You think the bay boys are mad there’s videos from lunada? Maybe but even that is no secret and most are probably just stoked to get a few clips.

Ha ha. How times have changed. I'm from the mid 70s Dogtown Zboys Era. I lived on the border of Venice and Santa Monica being Marine st and 4th. If you weren't a local of the Venice Breakwater yo did not surf there. Not even myself. The enforcer named Polar Bear would happily feed you a knuckle sandwich if he didn't know you. The surf could get size in the Winter but the shape was mostly poor in the area. The Breakwater was probably a bit better than Ocean Park, where I surfed locally. It's pretty stupid overall. But what a difference it is today. Hey here's a tip when Venice or Danta Monica is 3 or 4 ft head to the Southbay. El Porto or Manhattan might be twice the size and better shaped. .
