I listen to the Beatles, the Stones, Pink Floyd, Elvis, Dylan and many other artists. But this boy is special, he has something that sets him apart, a unique talent different from all the others, he was a true artist, he was a rebel, he lived as he thought. It was not commercial nor was it sold for money.

I painted so much to this album in high school. Probably even had this upload rockin on my ps3 AV out onto a crt using the internet browser for KZbin. It might sound artsy farts but this shit along side BMSR and PFFR blew my mind open inspirationally. Brings me back…

I certainly identify with the sentiments expressed in this song. Just one complaint, though; "and the days whittle down to a precious few, September, November..." Hey! The days are whittling down quite rapidly anyway, but when you leave out OCTOBER completely, you're adding insult to injury!

I thought I was the only one thinking of the same. And afraid to tell.... Picture Weil listening to Lotte Lenya - or, in our days, even Jessica Lange. And then, listening to "this"..... Guess he would walk on the wild side...😬

This is so through composed, all interlocking tubas, guitars, playing in counterpoint, multiple grooves, except for Threadgill's alto sax solo and Gene Lake funky drums damn good !

As an old guy, I reminisce regarding relationships… Weil, Brecht, Reed have done this piece so very well - poignant, warm,…. Ja da,…. And Hal Wilner pulled it together. He also did the same with contemporary artists covering Disney songs. Thanks for putting this up!

You should spend the next 20 years trying to get into them, or instead, not caring so much about them.

Threadgill's my favorite musician and if he gets how to use music to really communicate human feelings. The noisiness relentlessness and ever-changing same with grief is so well represented in this song but every time I'm grieving I have to listen to it to get a handle on the process.
