I actually prefer the original mechanism. Knife parry makes Leon untouchable while in the original, you have to dodge by running. The fact that I had to run away from a Regenerator and get scared the shit out of myself is because I can get killed easily going near the Regenerator. It would be less scary if I knew I could "disarm" a Regenerator by knife-parrying him. I think the game should restrict certain attacks that can not be blocked/parried to balance the game mechanism. It is not realistic that Leon can parry the big claw and chainsaw attacks with a little knife.
