Back in the 60s both passes where used for our car rallies with avg times set at 30mph with one or two, one mile checks. This was in the dark. No doubt modern drivers have become softies.

I didn't listen much in the past into this, but hey, look, you did, and it made you do something. Now to the sad part, judging by the video rease dates, it ain't going to plan from where I sit.

I love Hardknott Pass; the fort of Mediobogdum is of course one of the greatest locations within the Roman Empire. I drove the road many times before I passed my test and in snow it can be awesome - in the right vehicle of course. Ad altiora!

I almost got stuck on there in the pitch black half 7 last night with no phone connection. It wasnt nice, i honestly think i will never drive that road again

Would it make any difference (easier/more difficult) driving this area in a manual / automatic and 4WD / Non 4WD vehicle?
@martinsmith9947 Жыл бұрын
The only good thing about these twisty roads with steep gradients is that you usually have good visibility re approaching traffic. My absolute worst fear is enclosed single track country roads, mainly because you get either idiots behind you pushing you to speed up, or idiots coming towards you taking bends far too quickly.
@crazybearmotorcycletouring Жыл бұрын
Absolutely nothing wrong with being nervous & scared on these two passes. I've driven & ridden these two in the car & on my motorcycle many times. I still get a little apprehensive before getting to the start even though I now know what to expect. Love the fact that you did the passes & enjoyed pushed your boundaries, well done

Never looks as steep on camera but it is bloody steep, I drove it a few years ago in a Td5 Defender 90 I wouldn’t attempt it in the wet in a RWD car I think you’d lose traction on the tight corners. Well done 👍🏻🇬🇧

I bet your 90 didn’t have any issues getting up there. Did you drop it into low range or just keep It in high range?

Great video of a beautiful area but it really bothers me that she was ‘really scared’ on a sound road 🤣… seriously, there are no roads in this country that are that dangerous otherwise you wouldn’t be able to drive on them with British health & safety 😂.. try the Pasubio or Stelvio pass in Italy 👍🏼 now their dangerous 😂

Loved this - walked there last night in the dark and thought it would be fab to camp there but couldn't really see a suitable spot - then came across your vid and i'll go back and take a look - thanks - great vid

Hey we just checked out the video. Incredible drone shots! super cinematic. Can I ask how hard was it to get a Permit/permission for a drone. Are they relaxed? Or was it more of a run and gun shoot?
@sashasparro3 жыл бұрын
Hey, great question I'm currently flying dji spark that in its weight category doesn't require any permissions or licences as its below licenced weight, but hoever dji has restricted Geo zones that I'm avere of, so if there's is any restrictions I do fallow the recommendations, but Gwyder forest does not have any of these so if you're there just make sure you're away from people and do it as safely as possible. Thanks for the comment. Hope it was helpful.
