Worth remembering that the Class 390 and (Avanti) Class 221 both have the active tilt system. Aside from enabling faster speeds through curves, the system acts like secondary suspension. It can therefore help smooth out some of the ride. Class 800 don't have it so the ride will feel different.

Reason being DfT wanting to save costs during the covid lockdown as they took over the finances of the railway during lockdown. Even now the DfT are managaing the finances of the railway post-covid. 07:10 I have been told by a few emr staff that the operating systems on the 222's are outdated and prone to issues downloading reservations, especially on the move.

That must be one of my favourite routes! I just love the way that the Javelin accelerates up to 140mph, powerfully, quietly - all while in the tunnel, then exits at that speed! And I always getting that view of the QE2 bridge as you go past and under it!
