Thank you for this super clear video on how to pretreat my wool fabric, plus the bonus philosophy on how to approach the non-fun parts of sewing (with the mystery novel analogy)! I just love the moment of sewing the first construction seam, but it’s a long road to get there. What has your experience been with preshrinking denim? I’ve prewashed denim twice and had it still shrink a little, so I think I’m going to default to three times to be safe.

Thank you for this tutorial! It was easy for an amateur like me to follow. The design is beautiful and practical. 💜 I only had to make a small change in the size. My Kindle is very old - 4th generation. It measures in length and width 6.5” x 4.5”; the screen is 6”. The sizes of the fabric pieces from the blog make a case that is too big for my Kindle, so it just ended up flopping around inside it. For my second try, I decreased the sizes of the pieces as follows and it worked out great: Main fabric, interior fabric, and batting (1 each) 8” x 11.5”; Main pocket and interior pocket (1 each) 8” x 5 5/8”; Tabs (4 each) 2.5” x 2.5”; 1/4” elastic (1 each) 9” long.

I’ve sewn pjs for my whole family for their Christmas Eve present starting at about age 10! 28 years later I’m still doing it but now it’s got to about 20 pairs and we keep adding more family members also light gray tread will blend in with almost all fabric colors a lot of time I’ll just use that or white or black for all of them

This is my first murder mystery quilt. Watching this welcome video has really gotten me excited. I’m turning 77 on the 13th and this is my birthday gift to myself. I only started quilting after I retired and love it. This past year has been stressful for me and I have not done any quilting. I’m really excited to be getting back to a hobby I love.

This is my first Murder Mystery Quilt (maybe my second as I 'bundled' and am currently working on the Murder in Egypt quilt - and loving it!). Last December I joined a 10 day-tour of Peru and we spent an amazing day at Machu Picchu - the highlight of the whole trip. I can't wait to get started but, in the meantime, thank you for the additional bonuses!

I am a total newbie to sewing. If I wanted this to be a thicker case do I do the same process but just use a heavier interface? Thank you!
@Whipstitch2 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s exactly right! You can use a heavier interfacing for a thicker case, but be sure to choose one that's still flexible enough to allow the Kindle to open and close easily.

What zig zag length do you use for securing edges
@jyothivinod54296 ай бұрын
Hi. I was going to make this today. In the video you say, Everything has to be interfaced, but in the pdf I downloaded, you mention that only the main fabric has to be fused with interface. Please suggest the best way.
@jyothivinod54296 ай бұрын
I interfaced all the fabric. I used these reduced 8"*12" and 8"*6" because my Kindle measures 6.5" x4.5". It was a tight fit. I feel my reduced measurement works only if 1/4 " seam allowance is used. If going with 1/2 " seam allowance, the original measurements will probably be a good fit. Thanks for this useful but easy pattern.🙂

Thank you for explaining and showing how to overcast with a zig zag stitch. Another video just told us to zig zag the raw edges, but didn’t elaborate at all. I’m very new, so I need to be taught every fine detail. Which you seem to be very good at. So thank you!

Well, my first try. I took off an inch in each direction because I have a few I bought that are a little too loose. Mine turned out 8" tall by 9" wide! Could not get it over my head.... Guess I'll add an inch each way and see how that ends up.
@Whipstitch Жыл бұрын
I think you need that extra margin to get them over the head! Mine fit close to the neck without being snug, and when I layer it over the neckline of a sweater, they're just right. Hope that's the case for you on the second try! :)
