Really nice video. I was wondering if you got a video or advice on how to use Airtable more specifically for managing Airbnb as a broker. I.e Having the hosts details and properties, and managing the guests details, putting the check-in and check-out dates and getting prior checkout notification and including the rate paid for the nights?
@sonorusconsulting8 күн бұрын
That's a great idea for a video! We actually have done a ton of projects that involve syncing Airtable and Airbnb. It's not easy but doable.. not sure when we'll do the video but it's a friggen good idea 💡

Perhaps next time RTFM before jumping in. Not exactly objectively reviewed
@sonorusconsultingАй бұрын
Look you are correct to a degree. But I only spent a day with the system. It's not a long term review. People who are shopping around for a no-code DB builder want to know if the system is good at the basics.. and that's my angle here. It's my first impression. I'm judging the book by it's cover... And maybe the first few chapters 😜 You can't expect everyone to RTFM with every service from day one. In fact, I can argue that some of the best systems out there have a UX so intuitive and helpful, that you rarely need to read the manual. Maybe I'm slightly biased.. but, at the end of the day.. first impressions matter. And I have praised a ton of systems based on first impressions that do a better job than Airtable, SmartSuite, Baserow..

you sound like you’re sponsored by airtable - this general design is more inspired by Notion - but all Application design is moving to this format and becoming an industry standard based off of ui/ux principles
@sonorusconsultingАй бұрын
I'm not sponsored by Airtable.. but it's one of the industry leaders. And we do a ton of work on it. So yes the review/first impression is from that angle.
@jaypsanchez9481Ай бұрын
@@sonorusconsulting I get it but it’s also not fully unbiased since you get commission and sale services tied to the Airtable platform - which is a non developer technical platform. Anything more than that you have to understand code and DB frameworks which you then start to use Xano, Supabase, Firebase, etc…
@jaypsanchez9481Ай бұрын
ironically Baserow does advertise themselves as an Airtable alternative lol
@sonorusconsultingАй бұрын
@@jaypsanchez9481 yes of course, because Airtable has a lot of marketshare. And on the surface they are quite similar. The most interesting thing about these kinds of products is that there's very little incentive to switch. They are quite 'sticky' as systems. Something has to be very clearly 'wrong' for anyone to consider switching from Airtable to Baserow.. or vice versa.
@jaypsanchez9481Ай бұрын
@@sonorusconsulting true, I’m going to learn about retool since (I come from a front-end dev bg) One of the current features not added yet with Baserow is the inability to sync multiple databases together, you can only sync tables within the same database
@al3xjАй бұрын
nice video - and I love Fibery - but what is the limit of rows for a transaction database? I've used Airtable in the past, reached my limit, then brought it all back to excel with power query. wish it could be online and automated like you have shown with docparser
@sonorusconsultingАй бұрын
That's an excellent question. As far as I know Fibery is quite flexible when it comes to record limits. From my conversations with the Fibery team, you might experience some minor performance degradation after 500k records.. but it's a bit relative to the complexity of your schema.
@kayseedayАй бұрын
I'm seriously considering this for my job. I work as a Product Manager and I have to manage a Product Roadmap, my own personal tasks, tickets I've created for Team A, tickets for Team B, a release log, release notes. There are many Google Sheets. This can be all managed via one BaseRow Database with different views for different stakeholders. If I can manage views for different users then that would be perfect. Like restricted certain users from only seeing certain columns when they access the board and so on.

Does this tool allow you to input a bunch of jobs in an area and the number of drivers/installers for that area, and have the tool split the jobs between the drivers not only by job count but also by an install piece count that is listed with each job information and give a route that is optimized for each installer?

The Geometry field would hopefully match up to a postGIS database which handles spatial data. That is quite a technical integration and I'd be super excited to find that this platform can handle spatial databases effectively. I think the problem with this application is that it markets itself as an airtable alternative when really it needs to be presented as a plain old database front end, which has such high value in and of itself, but it is not a workflow management system nor really an end user interface like airtable is. It's in the name - No-code DB! Likewise Airtable is not a replacement for a formal and scalable relational database. I am very likely to implement this for clients where I think they need a full and local relational database solution but do not have in-house database management capability. I also believe that the nocoDB is open source, unlikely that it will be privatized so always rooting for that!

Why not use Airtable interfaces instead?
@sonorusconsulting2 ай бұрын
Good point. But interfaces pale in comparison to what you can do with Noloco... They have their place. Don't get me wrong. But, as a professional, agency owner, where I need every project to survive and scale for at least 5 years of expected growth.. I need my system to be prepared for 'war'. I can't go to war with interfaces. Unless clients won't grow or have any changes in the next 4-5 years.. then sure let's go with Airtable Interfaces.. but rule of thumb is Noloco (for now)
