I have been looking for a van in my price range since last Feb. I check the MOT I check the date last v5 was issued, I check what the road tax is as some vans are silly money on a 3.5 ton up to £750 is the most I have seen and I check the ULEZ charge as not all are 12.50 as some are at £100 a day just for ULEZ. I ask if it has had the usual fuel saving mod of having the DPF modded (smashed out) and had a map to allow for that, if that comes up as a yes I walk away as its an mot fail and if I find a van this year will also be looking at the state of the seat belt webbing as if it has any nics in it then its an automatic fail these days. and finally if I find a van I like I do a full HPI for it being a right off or cat s etc . Buying a van on a private sale is a nightmare these days and as Brendan explores found out, its not much safer buying from a dealer unless you buy new and then that still comes with problems besides the silly cost.

Only 6 mins into your video but iI am saying do a runner while you can. I had a look at 2 vans in Birmingham and they were both sheds. looked great in the pics but the one you could smell it had been sat in a field for a few years and was all slimy to touch yet mr jubuimbutoo insisted it was a quality top condition van lol. Birmingham? walk away.

A video call to look at the van first seems to be the best way forward. 😂

Least you didn't pay a deposit. Always good to see it first! OK long drive but you didn't waste your money!

true story Danny. Before I bought Viv, I was looking round for a couple of years for a decent van. I spotted one on FB Market for sale in Burnley which looked ok on the photos. I guess my spider sense should have been tingling when the address turned out to be a car park and two asian guys rolled up with the van. To say they must have done a hell of a lot of photoshop on the photos is no eggaggeration. It looked like the car Father ted tried to repair on his tv show. when they opened the back, there was this phnumatic table like contraprion which folded out and down to the floor. The blokes said they used to to lift sacks of veg in and out of the van as they were market traders. Then they let slip it was an ex Bunley coroners office van and the table had been used for lifting bodies in and out..... yes, I deffo didnt buy it. No wonder they say that FB Market is now the social media version of Mos Eisley- literally the hive of scum and scammers-specially from Brum. Happy new year to you and the Rickster 🙏- Kenny

Hello chaps. Great job as always. Just a little pointer re the jg speed fit connecters. Are you aware they have a collet locking c clip for the connecters that stops the pipe from accidentally coming free of the fitting? Which with all the movement in a van might not be a bad idea to use.

I noticed that you use Osmo polyx oil Ive owned company for over 40yrs Where we sand & seal real wood floors Osmo is good oil. But Treatex oil is far better. Dries much quicker. They also do a hardener additive. Say for worktops & dries even quicker. Around 2hrs. 1st coat put on thinly. 2nd coat good coat I wouldn't use brush either. I would use 3" sponge roller. It will still go into bevelled edge. Perhaps brush edges

I’ve watched the issues on the van conversion you did. It appears on first glance it did look a great professional conversion, it looked fab. But the reality was , it was evidenced to be quite a botched up job, particularly the diesel heater installation - to be honest, I would probably have lost faith in your team, and have opted for another conversion company to rectify the issues. It’s a shame it ended the way the way it did.

some touch lights I had with usb charge port, used to turn on when door was slammed or went over bump when driving. pain in the arse. was it because they were cheap ebay shyt or is there a special way of wiring them ?

One of vans you're on with. You had match board on wall in shower area. Which imagine you're going to out plastic over top The match board will warp & probably push plastic forward break seal in plastic corners
