As a diver and smoker. From my perspective it doesnt really affect me. Im mentally so stable ehile scuba diving. In the other hand i cant say that im amazing in free diving yet i can hold breathe around 3.5-4 mins.

If you dive deep (I had 7 cylinders I had to keep in test), you need a RB. If you only do sport diving, its expensive. Ive done deep and shallow, I just love my RB because its technical, quiet and if looked after, Very Safe.

Great discussion & demonstration! Personally, I've been using the method described in ISE videos, but I recently found the Prusik Knot technique presented in a Prana Dive video that seems more elegant in that it better controls the wrapped line. I'm going to try it out. A thought: While many of the videos on tying boltsnaps address where to tie it along the length of the hose (ex: a handwidth from the 2nd stage), none discuss controlling the position of where you tie it radially around the circle of the hose. Acknowledging that the angle the boltsnap can make with the hose can be radially adjusted about 190 degrees when constrained by properly-tied cave line, having it in the wrong position around the circumference of the hose (since the hose cannot rotate) can make clipping it off awkward, as well as having it poke you in the cheek for the one used to clip off your reg. I find the correct position by setting up a tank and reg on my BC and running the hoses to find the right orientation as the hoses naturally curl to their diving positions. The key is using the natural curled position of the hoses in the diving position. I wrap a piece of painter's tape on the hose adjacent to the installation position, use a Sharpie to mark the best boltsnap location on the tape, then tie it on. That way, the boltsnap is optimally located for use when diving. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I am on the path of moving from a provisional to rec (tech?) pass on fundies. If the diver is responsible for adjusting deco plans based on in-dive inputs, how do you maintain a team assent? While the team may have experienced much the same, there could be some differences and at least different reassessments. Does this require reaching a consensus calling for end of dive? Is there a way to determine which divers chose profile will govern all?
@alaincaspar2148
@alaincaspar2148 Ай бұрын
You will have to choose the most conservative profile to govern. So that's also why it is important to discuss about the profiles before the dive so that they don't diverge too much. If someone has a very very conservative profile just because it is "safe" to have it, it might pose a problem for the rest of the team... Once in the water the differences should be acceptable, it is no time to "discuss" that anymore and, as I said, you follow the most conservative computer

There's an odd discrepancy in the course prerequisites between Rec3 and Tech1 (and Cave1 for that matter). While Rec3 requires at least 25 dives after the Fundamentals course, Tech1 has no such requirement and can theoretically be taken immediately after fundies - why is that?

Im awaiting my first ccr unit. Main reasons for me: - I’m fairly susceptible to depth narcosis. Trimix is way too expensive to be diving every single time I want to go to 30/40 meters. On the CCR it’s easy and “affordable”. - My main-buddy uses around 50% of the air I’m using. Diving deep is possible, but I’m the limiting factor for duration. - I’ve had a trip to the deco chamber once before after some deeper wreck diving. I can’t wait to be doing optimal decos with a fixed set point. - You look cool also f%}%ck with a ccr strapped to your back 😎 I

I am currently SSI Advance Adventurer Diver (equivalent to PADI AOW) I am interesting to take a GUE Fundamental classes in the future to improve my own diving skills (i.e. triming, buoyancy and other dive skills), would like to know what the GUE system which I may be interested to be part of the GUE Diver, as well learning to dive in twin set and dry suit. However I am not sure where to start first. Do I have to start from double and drysuit primer first or I have to start with GUE Fundamentals as part of the compulsory course to get into GUE System? Thanks

Man, stop making sense of using $120 gas on two OC 30 meters dives. It does NOT make sense at all even if you are rich! This video was made 2 years ago, now helium is even more expensive due to sanctions against Russia. The only sensible time to use 30/30 is as travel gas for deep trimix dives

The problem with rechargeable lithium ion batteries is imho not so much that they discharge over time. The real problem here is that you charge your backup light to 100% and then "never" use it, leading to the battery being stored for months or years at (almost) full charge. This is a bad situation for a li-ion battery and causes it to deteriorate.

This video starts out by trying to prove that bar*liter does not exist or is a valid unit and tries to prove it by answering a different question: - What volume 200 bar in a 12 liter cylinder would expand to on the surface at 1 bar. In argumentation theory, this is called a fallacy. I am not impressed by this video or the creators understanding of basic physics.

So, after 8 months, what do you think of this light? How do you like the 150° angle? This should make you loose quite some lumens vs a light with a 120° angle I guess. I want a light mostly for ocean videos (macro or to give a bit of reflection to shoals of fish).

It's not about depth, it's about duration. It's about footprint. It's about waste. It's about flexibility. Sure, you can go deeper, longer, but that's a benefit that not many will be able to take advantage of. You could make your same argument about justifying drysuit vs. wetsuit. Just dive less and you don't need a dry suit right... It's nonsensical for anyone more serious about diving. If you're worried about the financial sensibility about diving, just don't dive. Also nonsensical.

Having only 1 seam is actually worse. As the SMB spends most of its time rolled up somewhere and getting bumped around, having a sturdy seam protects the fabric, as it's also already under stress because it's folded over. You're calling the seam the weak spot, but i'm pretty sure it's actually the opposite. And in the end, EVERYTHING is manufactured in China anyways, including the Halcyon one. It just depends on how much you're willing to pay for the little brand badge on there.
