First of all I'm not hating on you: I'd like to help you out. There's so many things that do not look professional. Especially that tip with the window light hitting your face at 1pm midday, unless you want to look like an absolute amateur. Get some diffusion in front like white curtains or use a softbox. Also your skin tones look a bit off to the yellowish in this one. Looks not so pleasing with the white blue light hitting you from one side and then a warmer light from the other side. To make it "cinematic" use one light from one side and film into the dark side, maybe give it some tiny bit rim light too. (That edge light you talked about) or a hair light if you desire. Match the camera white balance to the lights kelvin output and you're having a good starting point. Hope this helps. Keep going mate!
