Well…there is no IDG failure non normal checklist actually. That’s why we lost the CSD here .and the reason may be high oil temperature or low oil pressure . Am I right? Because as we know IDG consist of two different parts which are CSD AND GENERATOR. so we did not loose the generator in this scenario. But we lost the CSD???
@pilottutorials
@pilottutorials 18 күн бұрын
There’s a Drive nncl. You are correct, the IDG has failed due to low oil pressure, over temperature, disconnect, or under frequency. The loss of CSD resulted in losing the use of the generator as an electrical source.

What are the reasons that we had this TRANSFER BUS OFF failure? During the cruise flight I guess we lost IDG 1 . If it was IDG 1 why would not we get the IDG failure? And we did not go for the Idg failure nncl. Because SOURCE OFF light illuminates as well

Good questions... the sim has built in failures and I'm working through them. Using the AC / DC metering panel would probably show the IDG still working, will try to test and add to description if so. If anyone else would like to try it, please post your findings. Thank-you.

Hi, thank you for sharing your content; your videos are very helpful. Could you please clarify emergency descent point number 5, specifically regarding the mention of "as required for anti-ice"? From what I understand, the autothrottle automatically adjusts for anti-ice conditions. How can we determine the necessary N1 for anti-ice in this scenario?
@pilottutorials
@pilottutorials Ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. That seems a popular question online. Once the anti-ice has been used, TAI is added to the N1 gauges. The "as required for anti-ice" is to ensure enough thrust is produced to cause the anti-ice lights to go dim (sufficient pressure). What that value is seems to differ depending on sources, but somewhere between 30-60% N1 seems to be what people are finding. Ultimately "as required" may be the best answer.

@pilottutorials
@pilottutorials Ай бұрын
Hi @markcardwell. Thanks for your question. If I'm understanding the question, once the APU generator is selected, bus tie breaker 1 closes and the APU Gen then powers Transfer Bus 1. I'm interested if viewers would like more systems information in the videos? Also, questions and answers about the systems too?
@markcardwell

@pilottutorials Thx. Is there a Split System Breaker and if so is it open or closed? I guess in simple terms I am asking if that apu generator is synchronized with the remaining good IDG?
@pilottutorials
@pilottutorials Ай бұрын
I'll defer to our engineer viewers. If you download the B737 system diagram app you can see exactly what happens, I'm not sure if it's synchronized, but the APU Gen does power the affected bus once selected.

@pilottutorials I'll check. On a 747-4 there's a SSB that must be OPEN because apu generator is not synchronized therefore cannot power the entire bus thus must be isolated

Thanks for the feedback, you are absolutely correct, I'll make an updated video. Had I actually looked at the QRC it would have reminded me it's a memory item, so I'll make sure and have the documents at hand and make a mention whether the NNC has a memory item in future videos, before going to the QRC (where applicable) and QRH. Appreciate the input, the channel could use more viewer engagement, so we can create the best set of tutorial videos possible. The good thing in remaking this will be the use of our own paint scheme, and getting rid of the music!

@NicholasRiviera-Dr
@NicholasRiviera-Dr Ай бұрын
@@pilottutorialssounds like you made the AC TRANSFER BUS 1 INOP in your simulator. If that is the case you wouldn’t get any of the systems that it powers to operate This is my understanding of the presented defect. The AC TRANSFER BUS 1 can’t be supplied with any source of power. It shows an inability of: * the BPCU to automatically connect AC TRANSFER BUS 2 to AC TRANSFER BUS 1 (should happen without pilot input) * the #1 engine IDG to reconnect to the AC TRANSFER BUS 1 by selecting the #1 Engine GEN switch * the APU generator to connect to the AC TRANSFER BUS 1 by selecting the APU GEN switch This is a critical situation for the aircraft. If you go to step 4 in the QRH, the TRANSFER BUS OFF light remains illuminated (after selecting the APU generator) plan to land at the nearest Available Airport. Only one main AC power source remains. You needed to make the video longer to show the rest of the QRH.
@pilottutorials
@pilottutorials Ай бұрын
@@NicholasRiviera-Dr Good to see you here, thank-you. Transfer Bus Failure was selected in the sim, the checklist seems to literally be for the bus being off, not broken. However, just checked a more recent QRH and it has additional steps if the Transfer Bus Off light stays illuminated after selecting the APU generator switch, including planning to land. This has been very interesting, wondering why the APU would be started if it can't be selected as a source if the transfer bus is broken, and finding newer QRH's have added steps to address this. An older QRH is used for the videos as it is publicly available. If anyone would like to suggest a link for a newer publicly available version, please comment below. @NicholasRiviera-Dr and @komba2023 Thank-you.
