Back then, they dressed neat and fashionable. Now, a random New Yorker cannot be distinguishable from homeless people in Asia. Plus, less fat people.

I collect toys and model kits from the 1970s. MY BRAIN EXPLODES when I see old footage like this. IF you were on the street here, and walked into a Woolworth's with a $50.00 bill in your hand--AND you know what to look for -- you could probably walk out with $5000.00 worth of "future" stuff !! NO JOKE !!

I want to add: IF you are old enough: Do you remember when the 1970s was only "10 / 20 years ago"? Now it feels like 200 years ago. LOL .

Suits / ties / trench coats / comb-overs . REPLACED by "casual office wear" , shaved heads , hoodies.

People walked fast to reach their offices, and nothing has changed for the past half a century. But most of pedestrians in the footage have passed away.

Did anyone else notice the jogger at 0:15 coming from the left side perfectly fitting the onbeat and then crossing the street like Rocky in his gray hoodie? Love this little detail.

This is just so amazing, like you're actually there. I'm struck particularly by how different the women look.... Today they would all be in sweats and t-shirts, and anybody under 30 is basically in gym clothes. So many people here all look so professional and business-like. It seems the further you go back in time, the better dressed people look, heh. Weird.

See the young woman with long hair wearing a tan coat, orange top and specs at 59 seconds? Well I gave her $2 for a taxi fare home. She took my address and promised to return the cash but she never did! If anyone watching this knows the woman please contact me at my grave in Allerton Cemetry, Catholic section, plot 155, Liverpool, L19 5NF, England. Thanks!
