Oh there I sneezed and the Dr. Eggman fight was already over XD I also like that Sonic basically summarizes himself by stating "What you see is what you get" that is seriously really cool^^ That final fight with shadow is such a cool concept, its basically the essence of Sonic, a race on an infinite track. And Its also neat that Shadow cant be "cheesed" to often and that he will actually react to your attacks and you have to more varied. Im really in the mood to bring a battery powered TV and Dreamcast and listen to the Soundtest of SA 2 on the beach^^ But yeah the hero side story is really well paced and I like that the cutscenes are to the point while still serving up a nice story that doesnt bog down the fast paced gameplay. It feels kinda old fashioned in a good way where the levels and the story segments are very clearly seperated in a way you know? But yeah I can definetely see why this is your comfort game^^ Im really looking forward to the dark side chronicles... erm... umbrella... dark side story^^

Or in a science test in High School when talking about kinetic energy. Well in this case its more that the colony is 'old' in the sense that it was disused and was advanced for its day (in that Gerald Robotnik created it in the 1950s so compare technology to back then to what the ARK actually is here) But also if you wanna see how far the technology can go in Sonic check out some of the cities in Sonic Riders for comparison. I dunno I'd still say Wesker takes it overboard with his desire to completely globally saturate Chris with his viral fluids. As Dr Eggman's victory quote says in game "Now you know why I AM THE BEST!"

Eggman was at his best in this game, he gets over confident, reasonable so, but manages to always make his way back the the top, showcasing why he IS THE EGGMAN. He felt like a proper continuation of his megadrive self and not what people seem to sadly remember him as, a goofy clown. Although I guess since thanks to the 2010s that kinda is true but Eggman was never meant to be a goofy clown. I think it's just refering to Shadow alone and the translation is just poorly done. And now it's November when the video is released. Rouge I think is the best female Sonic character because she's more socialble than Knuckles but deep down she wants something actually meaingful. And in the games she does appear in, and other media, she's done well and her friendship with Knuckles and Shadow speaks to how great she is. A true friend that won't ever leave you and completely understands you. That and I'm glad she was never forced into becoming something she wasn't and isn't for the sake of being a "strong female character" when she already is a strong female character and well done one (a just a great character overall) compared to Amy who's used to be one, but was then badly mishandled after this game and is now just the girl character with nothing unique about her. Oh how Sonic and his cast have been mishandled over the years.... "SA2 isn't consistent", why did that remind me of the line Tails' says in Frontiers lmao.
@TheSkully3435 күн бұрын
Why Eggman works in SA2 (and the Mega Drive games) is because he is an overconfident goofy manchild with plans of creating a theme park in honor of himself and his achievements... That also involve enslaving the world, destroying anyone who gets in his way and has an army of machines and genius intellect to back him up which is where the threat and fear comes in... Its a shame Forces ended up screwing up that concept because it really had the potential to really show Dr Eggman at his peak. In a later part I did a bit of research and found out what that line was actually referring to which is quite interesting. Yeah, Rouge is one of the great ones, and definitely one who both the fanbase and the series itself easily underestimates. She's got her strengths but she also isn't ultra invincible or needs to be on par with the likes of Sonic or Shadow to be strong since she has her own unique qualities they lack with a fairly vibrant personality to boot. Poor Amy though, the games haven't been kind to her after SA2. Don't worry we'll get to that line in Frontiers in due time.

i think one of the main reason they don't let you use sparda DT in ng+ is that the dante you use during the grounded battle against mundus is technically a different entity from the regular version as this one has all the data for the dt, projectiles & it's unique animation, aura etc whereas the regular version doesn't. so it may have been due to RAM limitations as they could only have so much data loaded in at once
@TheSkully3437 күн бұрын
In that sense wouldn't that also be the case if you have Ifrit equipped with its DT mode? Or was it a case of RAM limitations where the PS2 couldn't handle having all three and some sacrifices had to be made apart from the second phase Mundus battle?

So yeah, decided to rewatch both this, and the Resurrection review because, well of course it's Halloween, and I felt like it. Honestly the Halloween series isn't really high on my priority to watch, I'd probably say in terms of the big four slashers it's probably third place in that, (First would be Friday the 13th, second is Nightmare on Elm Street, and fourth is Texas Chainsaw if you were wondering) but considering how much of a landmark it is, I do at least feel I should watch it at some point and give it a shot. (Or at the absolute very least the first one) Rip the Friday the 13th reboot review though, probably would've watched that as well if KZbin didn't delete that.

All that's left to say is OOOOOHHHHHH NOOOO ANNIEEEEEEE :' ( I suppose maybe they're still used in a novelty kinda way just for fun, but not in legitimate psychiatric practice. No Halloween night is complete without LE PIZZA and it is delicious! Maybe Michael Bay has a psychic link where he can inverse his films to make big money at the box office in exchange for ruining 80s franchises. In terms of Halloween movies to watch I'd easily recommend Halloween 1 and 2 (the original 1981 movie that is) Halloween 3 Season of the Witch has nothing to do with anything and can be safely disregarded unless you want to watch a film about an Irish celtic cult who kills people via a catchy advert and some Halloween masks. Halloween 4 meh, Halloween 5 tries to set up a potential new killer to replace Michael Myers only to abandon that idea when it was unpopular with Friday the 13th Fans when that series tried to replace Jason. Halloween 6 sucks ass and wastes the final performance of Donald Pleasance as Dr Loomis. H2O is... okay, not great but a decent watch. Halloween Resurrection... Well you've already seen the review. Rob Zombie's Halloween Remake I do enjoy for what it is as a flip side of the coin on Michael Myers being a psychotic killer by proxy of his upbringing and then following through in his later years. only for Rob Zomvie's Halloween II to screw it up as you've seen here. The Halloween 2018, Kills, and Ends trilogy just got worse as it went on and quite frankly just shows how much diminishing returns the series had after the first two movies from the 70s and 80s.

(And yeah, kind of a shame we don't have a lot of Kojima's older games accessible nowadays, and considering the bad blood between him and Konami, I don't think we will any time soon. I'd still give that award to the cardboard box for the fact that nobody questions it in a hallway or anywhere outside of a storage hold where it'd make sense to be. Well the missiles are Diane's method, but if you've got the ammo to spare or just want to throw caution to the wind you can go toe to toe with machinegun Kid and blast him like an 80s action hero. Insert how this one translation error ruins the story for those who play it in english only. Eternal engine isn't a bad level but it is annoying when you lose your rings.Tails' defintely suffers from less playing testing compared to the others. Oh so now I get why there's a link above the title of the video. "My power is failing!" I relate alot to that given I have done nothing of note this year when it comes to KZbin. Meteor herd while very huge it is actually fun unlike mad space. I wish we got another story book back in the day. I think they asked the fans what they wanted Sonic in back around 2010 but after that nothing came. If Ian Flynn wrote this story and dialouge, he'd shove a cringey reference to Dragon Ball like he did for JoJo in the IDW comics. Seriously I can't stand Ian Fylnn's constant use of references to Sonic, its so unnatrual and makes him and the others unironically out of character for a game that is praised for making the cast in character yet does nothing to make you go "Ah now that is Sonic and co from so and so". I used to hate Crazy Gadget but Ive grown to love it. Although it is annoying for newcomers I won't lie. Just wondering how many years have you been playing Sonic Adventure 2? For me it's been since 2015 when I got it on PSN. And yes I grew up playing SA1 through the DX port through the dreamcast collection for Xbox 360 which was also how I discovered Crazy Taxi. Ah don't worry, you can't force creativity or inspiration and sometimes life shenanigans do get in the way of you tube stuff that just can't be helped. Shame really, it seems like 2010 was really the time that determined the series direction and sadly the Colours/Free Riders direction won out given public opinion of Sonic at the time. Ian Flynn's writing is a double edged sword in that he can create some decent plots but other times he (like you mentioned) can get a bit too 'fanboy' and create fanbase specific references or moments that take you out of the experience which can to varying degrees either be an "ayyy! I get that reference" or something that feels more like he's just flexing his knowledge about the franchise more than writing something that makes sense in the moment. I've been playing SA2 since 2009 shortly after I finished Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast so while not having SA2 since 2001 I do have a lot of experience with it and did pick up the PS3/XBOX 360 ports of the DX and Battle versions in 2012 so my experience is very Dreamcast centric since it was one of the many games I enjoyed along with Shenmue I and II and Resident Evil Code Veronica.

@TheSkully34321 күн бұрын
That might've been intentional given the theming of Pinocchio and the idea of him needing a conscience to learn right from wrong since Pleasure Circus is just giving in to base desires (not necessarily sexual mind you) but indulging in the rambunctious antics none the less. Indeed, so I suppose Ursula's little appearance in the tutorial is all we were getting. YAY!!! From what I recall seeing of the 3DS game footage I think there wasn't too big of a difference aside from the screen crunch so I'd say its nebulous apart from the change in aspect ratio from handheld to consoles.

I remember the hate omochao got in Sonic animations back in the day. Considering other tutorial characters were fairly disliked, I wonder if Sonic Team was aware of that when they made it possible to attack omochao. I love the mech stages. While not as fast paced as the speed stages, it is fun to get the best combos. I'm mixed on having the power ups. On one hand, it does make it fun to go back to stages with new abilities, but they are often out of the way and can break the flow of the original run which brings the risk of a weaker first impression. For some reason, I can get the top part of the rocket in Metal Harbor in the Dreamcast version fairly easily (probably from all my play throughs of it), but the Gamecube version is less consistent. Either way, it's a cool set piece. Odd sound mixing aside, I love the cutscene before the Shadow fight. It shows the rivalry between the two in a fun way which is likely why it became a meme (though I think the audio mixing is the other reason). Looking at Green Forest, and the destruction of Prison Island in general, it's a really good ending to the first act of the story. You got everything established, the villains are making their move and the heroes now have to step up to win the day. While the hero and dark part of the game does harm the presentation somewhat, when taken as a whole, the story is paced very well.
@TheSkully34324 күн бұрын
I'd say that probably did so as a gag in this game. And if Sonic Team wasn't aware of it in SA2 they definitely were by Shadow the Hedgehog given that you get the Omochao gun as an ending reward. Absolutely! nothing's finer than stringing a combo of 12 lock on targets for a Perfect. That's a good point, and it is an interesting discussion point about these sorts of games where you feel a major power fantasy about being badass which only comes through having all the upgrades and having fun with them... But only after you start from zero and have to (to some capacity) earn your fun for repeat playthroughs for a more slick and skillful run. I'd say SA2 avoids that trap for the most part since there's still plenty of speed and action set pieces to keep you engaged and the slower pace isn't too time consuming that it'll test people's patience. I can't say for certain on the Gamecube version but do the controls feel any different for that version? I know the XBOX360 and PS3 versions were based on that port which I do have experience with so I do wonder if it might be a controller input issue or just the game itself?

SA2 is too light and soft and isn't dark unlike Sonic Black and White - Sonic Fans from an alternate dimension where Sonic Colours is the dark and edgy game.

If only colours was a dark and edgy game. Without giving too much away (and if I actually can be bothered to make content while this year is still going instead being fearful for stupid reasons) JoJo is the most bizarre (shocking I know) thing I've ever read but its also something that has allowed me to look at things much better than I did once before and helped me look at things less like a fan and as creator as well. But to go abit more into if you're curious, it's basically about the Joestar bloodline, each part focuses on a different family member who just so happens to have the same nickname, Jojo (that gets dropped after part 3 btw), as they battles foes who reject their humanity. In the words of the creator, JoJo is a celebration of humanity. It's not the greatest thing to ever exist but I like it for what it is and I'm glad I got into it. It is one of the few shonen series' I still like and has made an impact on me appose to other manga and anime series' I regret wasting my time. This isn't me saying "shonen is bad", it's just that like superheroes and many other genres within every medium overall, I don't like sticking to one specific thing and I certainly don't like consuming shit just for the sake of not feeling like I'm missing out or being the all knowing man of media which means nothing especially if you don't even understand the series' you've watched, played and read beyond the surface level. Which is funny given my name but there is a reason why I called myself Media Nerd and the review it self but that's for a another day.

@@silenthazardz Sonic Black and White will exist in some alternate realm. I mean aside from its popularity revival in the 2010s I wouldn't ever think of disregarding Jojo's Bizarre Adventure since a lot of people do seem to connect with it to some capacity. Seems odd that they ditch the Jojo nickname by its 3rd iteration (of which there's like 9 parts now?) but maybe its just a remnant of an earlier idea of a multi-generational family line thing. Someday I shall soon learn the ORIGINS behind your Media Nerd name... But it is NOT TODAY!!!

@@TheSkully343 Originally JoJo was about the family lineage but Part 4 and 5 basically kinda shifted away from that focus for reasons I'll get into if I do a commentary on JoJo eyes of heaven. Parts 7-9 meanwhile is a soft reboot timeline that exists alongside the original JoJo universe that ended with part 6. And no I haven't read part 9 cuz I don't care about keeping up with modern media cuz I'm a boomer.

Comedy meant it was a happy ending???????????? I would not be suprised if many before classic Sonic fans, Star Wars fans who hated the prequels and 1987 TMNT fans were the original old time fans saying "THIS ISN'T LIKE MUH CHILDHOOD BOOKS, IT SUCKS!!!" OH HI WESKER! Skully praising DMC3? That's rare lol.
@TheSkully34328 күн бұрын
Well it was back during the days of ancient literature and often times stories seldom had happy endings so comedy was more of a term for levity (which I suppose it still is to some extent, just that modern terminology intertwines it with just pure jokes and such) The longer a franchise goes on and the changes that are made in time, the more likely you're gonna see stuff like that happen. 7 minutes is all the time he has to play with Dante. I'm willing to give credit where its due even for games I don't like and for all my issues with DMC3 it does have its positives.

I see the thumbnail and I'll watch the video when I get home from work, but then two weeks suddenly pass. The curse of old has struck me (ironic as this is a birthday video). Happy, really, late birthday. I hope it was a good one and it's nice to see a relaxed commentary on SA2 after your review of it. This game is also a solid comfort game for me. Sadly, my brain hasn't been able to get the energy to play any video games for the last year and a half to two years (though gaming itself has been an on and off hobby leaning closer to off since the latter half of 2019). I'm not sure if it's just me, but while some of the sound mixing during the cutscenes isn't great, it got worse after the Dreamcast versions. @10:43 I think the hard dislike to the style is a mix of parroting what other reviewers have said and those reviewers just not wanting the style in a Sonic game. I've mentioned it before, but I enjoy the treasure hunts myself and the ease of character control makes navigation smooth so yeah. @12:15 The school ranks may not have been high, but you got the ranks that matter. Again, sorry for being so late. I hope you accept this gift as an apology, some Deem Bristow goodness kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnSVqmmBmb6Sa7s
@TheSkully34328 күн бұрын
Cheers man, Appreciate the birthday wishes belated though they may be. Sadly adult life leaves little time for gaming when you've got responsibilities to take care of. You can set some time aside but your drive and other pesky obligations still gnaw at the back of your brain. Honestly not sure why the sound mixing got worse in the Gamecube versions and especially for the PS3 and XBOX 360 ports later on? But I suppose the Battle port was prioritizing new content while the 7th Gen console versions was just a lazy porting job. Seems to be the case since a lot of reviewers tend to have no issue with it (or at least aren't as critical of it) in Sonic Adventure 1 compared to 2. Take that education system! Your gift of delicious Deem Bristow is accepted ALL IS FORGIVEN! : D

So basically Dante (in DCM3) was written like Sonic was in the 2010s, a wannabe 1987 Ninja Turtle (that wasn't even good despite what boomer TMNT fans say), taking 1 character trait they have and making it the entirity of the character and completely miss the forest for the trees of why the character makes one liners in the first place. Also do you feel he was out of character in the second game? If he was, do you think he was at least written well even despite that being the case, if it's true. I haven't played much of 2 and so far it was not bad like everyone said but I still haven't gotten far. Now I understand why Grandpa Max eats bugs. Also 1 last question, what are your thoughts on the games overall? I'm interested to know in brief why you don't like DMC3 so much. Not that I've played it I'm suprised you don't enjoy it the same way others do.
@TheSkully343Ай бұрын
DMC3 Dante was more or less made in response to DMC2 Dante being sullen and "boring" so to over correct they pretty much made him an overconfident jackass making jokey jokes up until the last stretch of the game where he starts to become a more well rounded character (and thankfully stays that way in DMC4 and 5) and that jokey tone was something carried on from 3 onwards that just irritated me since it undercut the gothic horror feel of the first two games. DMC2 Dante was only really out of character in that it was never explained in game what happened to Trish or why he was so sullen (pushing that in a tie in novel with fuck all relevance) but to that games credit it still had Dante's noble demon characteristics with a few solid one liners that worked in context with who he was fighting. Grandpa Max has a extensive taste palette. To put it in brief DMC1 I like a lot for its gothic horror feel with its Resident Evil influence really giving a creepy vibe to Mallet Island and Mundus's influence on the inhabitants that you can read up about as Dante descends into the Underworld to face his destiny with solid gameplay mechanics and a great soundtrack that helps to embody action with the esoteric Divine Comedy influence. DMC2 While clearly unfinished and patched together (and is also getting a review made right now at time of writing) I feel does show promise of a decent game with some great visual storytelling, music and interesting ideas that got their genesis here like acrobatic trickster moves or utilizing gunplay in varied ways like the rainstorm and twosome time abilities that help keep your style meter up and Lucia's gameplay similar yet close quarters and elegantly swift to give her a unique edge. DMC3 for all my problems with the game's story and characters, has great combat refines DMC2's combat into the style system where you can prioritize defense, guns, swords or acrobatics, enemy dynamics are quite good and switching between weapons on the fly is fun... But that's the only real concession it made because puzzles are basic and copy pasted from DMC1, platforming is still arthritic on the few times you do it and even the new locations you travel through feel redundant as it features similar looking areas to the first two games. (Storywise it focuses too heavily on the comedy elements that aren't funny with Dante, generic Shounen rival antics of "I need more power because I'm broken inside" with Vergil and a dullard villain in Arkham who wants Sparda's power because fuck it why not?) DMC4 improves things decently with styles now able to be chosen on the fly as opposed to tediously picking out one from the statue of time as in DMC3, Nero comes across as a genuine character with room to grow and his combat has a unique feel and weighty goodness to his moves, Dante's combat is as good as ever and despite environments being reused in a glorified backtrack the gameplay is fun enough to justify its existence. Story is a bit (Our Princess is in another castle) and it doesn't quite develop Nero's love interest Kyrie or her Credo's relationship with Nero as much as I'd like since they are his adopted family. But as a result of Dante having a nephew it does give him a reason to be "Wacky fun uncle man" with abilities that surpass Nero but also genuinely give a shit like when Dante takes over the second half of the game... Shame it also shares the DMC3 main antagonist problem of Evil Pope Palpatine being another Sparda fanboy with delusions of grandeur but hey its a marked improvement over 3 in my eyes. DMC5 I liked what I played, enjoyed Nero's new movies, Dante's Sin Devil Trigger was a much needed expansion on the idea first introduced in DMC2 and I LOVED V's gameplay style of using the DMC1 boss monsters to fight your enemies. But it also plays like a "Devil May Cry Generations" in a lot of aspects and does end up bringing back Vergil in a sort of "The fans like him" moment where he ultimately learns nothing, seems completely unaffected by the whole "Nero's father is Vergil" reveal and the game ends with Vergil shirking responsibility in the Underworld despite the fact that the plots of DMC3, Nero's abandonment in 4 and especially 5 where his Demon half Urizen is responsible for decimating the world goes unpunished.

0:34 Honestly one of the games better moments in terms of story. 3:42 Pretty neat that they remembered Sora wasn't meant to have a keyblade when writing the story. 7:55 Yet another scene where Aqua's acting actually isn't that bad. 10:04 I find it funny how they actually got all three of the main trio's keyblades in there alongside the Kingdom Key, K is Terra's, E is Ven's, G is Aqua's. 12:24 I wonder how they came up with this attack lol. "Okay, we just need one more attack for Goofy, anyone got ideas?" "Ya know how a balloon acts when you let it go after filling it with air?" 18:41 Considering that we finally got the 7th season after Disney bought Star Wars, I'm pretty sure it still is? 19:04 And now both Union X and Dark Road are completely delisted... f#$%. 20:52 And since I mentioned this in part 9, Victory Pose gives you three times the EXP you gained, so popping off one of those will give you a bit more than you would normally get, making the process take at least a little bit less.
@TheSkully343Ай бұрын
Honestly I think all three characters are served well in the Destiny Islands scenes, if only because its a rare moment of self reflection that has poignancy. And even without a Keyblade Sora's just happy to be there like the chirpy little dude he is. Poor Willa Holland! Must she bare the brunt of your scathing remarks any longer? Ah well I'm sure she's laughing her way to the bank from a secure VA role as Aqua. Good eye Sir Fortesque I never really noticed that until now! That's an awesome level of art detail on the logo. I think it was more a factor of "Okay we have the animation data of the Goofy Rocket attack from Kingdom Hearts II, lets use it as a D-Link and go home for dinner" Ah well that's good to know. Well that's a damn shame. Although it does make me wonder if storywise we're gonna get something like a cutscene movie of Dark Road and Union X given their story importance or failing that an offline version made for those two entries in the future? YAY!!! : D

I'll be sad when the show ends, but like they always say, "Don't be sad it's over, be happy it happeaned". Ah a Sonic Adventure 2 video that doesn't bring up an unfunny and overused joke that twitter users find funny, HAHA! The Sonic movies are films that I think are proof that show how shallow online fandoms are. It was hated just cuz of a bad design, then praised cuz they fixed and yet the movie is a generic kids film that's not even as awful nor as amazing as either extremes claim. Both films are generic mid tier kids films that shove in Sonic things and, yeah they're honestly forgettable and nothing note worthy other than the vestigal wins they have for beating 2 bad comic book movies. It's sad how the internet in some ways has gotten smarted but in more ways, is even worse than it was back then... Oh btw if you're wondeirng, I won't be watching Sonic 3. I have no interest in it, I've seen and done the same songs and dances and how the various echo chambers will react to this movie. Overhating, overhyping, and all the other extremes I'm tired of seeing. But ulitmately, I don't believe they'll get SA2 right beyond the surface level. An old internet meme I remember well is "PINGAS!". Honestly the much better and funnier eggman joke because you don't need to understand the context to get it. And yes I watched many PINGAS memes in the good old days of highschool. Eventhough I hate those days and glad they are over. Maybe I should just play this game again and forget about how I feel about Sonic of now. Also I love the car levels music. It makes you FEEEEEEL (LIKE TAILS) good.
@TheSkully343Ай бұрын
Always good to end on a smile. Never found that particular meme funny to begin with which seemed to be the moment I realized "Man I'm too old for this internet meme shit" The Sonic movies I more or less treat as their own thing no different to SATAM or BOOM or whatever else and I can safely disregard them and take or leave whatever they offer. Both live action films are decent kids flicks that do have enthusiasm for the source material and some decent action scenes and character moments in their own right. But that being said There's no chance in hell its gonna do SA2 justice in being a faithful adaptation so at this stage I'm more or less just lowering my standards and hoping for it to be a fun movie with a few cool moments adapted on screen. Pingas ytps were the backbone of late 2000s early 2010s AOSTH videos on you tube and are sorely missed. Driving around and smashing cars feels good...Except if you do it in real life then you either die or go to jail with several broken bones.

Wanted to let you know, there was an issue happeaning with KZbin where some channels got taken down wrongfully because they were acused of spam. KZbin is fixing this problem and so far it's going well. Thankfully my channel wasn't effected by this but it is always important to back up your content. I learnt that the hard way. On topic, this is one of the most coolest moments in games. I miss when edgy media was cool, stylish but with genunie substance and not the over the top and cringy insecure edge where it basically just screams "SEE IM MATURE TOO!!! SEE!!!! SEEEEEE!!!". Which can basically be said for alot of things in modern media and how it's too busy never shutting up and feels the need to be LOUD NOISES!!!! Or in other words, it's way to overstimulating. WAY TOO overstimulating. 5:32 I totally get this. This is why I hate the direction Sonic is now going in. Instead of being actual improvement, its all just vestgial improvements and trying to correct the sins of the series instead of just making a great game, which is basically what Sonic has been since Colours. Man I forgot how great the music is in this game. Maybe I should replay this game.
@TheSkully343Ай бұрын
Thanks for the heads up. And honestly even before stuff like this happens I've always been in the habit of backing things up since you never know when calamity is gonna strike. Nuance and substance whether the pendulum swings between dark and edginess or light and softiness. Its all about knowing what you're doing and having sincerity and passion for what you're doing. Not too sure what aspect of Sonic you're referring to here since in the case of Frontiers its very much a (without giving too much away) a decent albeit very Sonic Unleashed experiment game that has its heart in the right place even if there's lots of room left to grow and some bad habits to kick. DMC1's music is amazing and next to Resident Evil 2 and 3 is up there as Masami Ueda's best work.

@@TheSkully343 I was refering to how the series is now pandering to zoomer fans aspose to boomers during the 2010s. Tails' "Im wildly inconsistent" line, Shadow getting all this attention suddenly when he was Thrown away for being "edgy", and the refereneces to anime such as Eva & Dragon Ball. Detactors of the series will always claim "Sonic is a ripoff of Dragon Ball" while fans will try to convince you "Sonic was always a shonen anime" but the thing is both the haters and the fans willingly chose to igrone is that Sonic used to be it's own thing. As a fan of both, I see how the 2 are similar but even then, it's only the vestigial things like blonde hair and 7 magical items when how they function is different. I like Sonic because it was it's own thing, not because it's "like Dragon Ball" or any other thing I'm into. Point is, I'm not happy with Sonic's future and I see it going the same way as the late 90s, late 00s and late 10s. As for Frontiers itself, I dislike it greatly so far. It's frustratingly boring in every aspect. Sure it's not bad objectively but it doesn't matter when I'm not having fun. I know this was negative and I tried to be within reason as best I could but I'm just tired of my favourite things (and modern media as awhole since somewhere in the 2010s) being nothing but vestigial improvements. Not just the content itself and the creatives' behind them doing the bare minimum, but also how online fandoms, social media influencers and whatnot prasie something for not being the EVIL thing they hate or cuz it's not this or that. I just want to enjoy modern media for it being good on its own merits. And I don't mean decent, I mean it makes you FEEEEEL LIKE SPIDER-MAN good. (Added this here to add balance to the force)
@TheSkully343Ай бұрын
@@silenthazardz It definitely makes for interesting discussion and I think you points do have some merit to them in how its trying to win back the crowd in some superficial aspects. But like with Colours I think a lot of this hinges on whether or not these changes are followed through in an organic way to build upon the foundation rather than throwing everything away for flights of fancy as was the case with Lost World after the one two three punch of Unleashed Colours and Generations. Compared to your views I do err positively on the franchise, but likewise I've also been down this road before and I'm not gonna be surprised if somewhere down the line we get the 2020s equivalent of Sonic Heroes or Lost World where a solid gameplay structure is thrown away for the hot new video game trend of the now or whatever fad is popular for franchises at this point in time.

IT reminds me of a scene in the movie I AM MOTHER, in which this huge robot for the first time starts to sprint down a dark hallway and slings tight around the corners that was so creepy. Oh damn Im so excited to figure something out about the scientist connection O.O Oh yeah Metal Harbor has the Resident Evil Code Veronica Alarm^^ I get the appeal of of a game like SA2 gameplay wise. You can an entire story with its levels being very short if you know what to do and enjoy the story cutscenes or quickly skips them. I like that approach much better then newer games that make you walk slowly forward in some story/gameplay parts. And the Island Escape music kicks ass! Always fun to shoot down the hint buddy for that delicious dialogue. XD Oh man that's be frightening, especially with that robotic level of focus undistracted from its mission. Get your nerd glasses on because its about to get kinetic dude! The Code Veronica alarm is used quite a bit throughout the game. Though it makes sense since SEGA staff members helped out with the development of that Resident Evil game so maybe they shared the alarm sound effect. SA2 paces its cutscenes really well, a nice burst of action, a bit of exposition and a bit of mystery but quickly gets back to the action so you're interested enough to keep playing but excited to kick ass in a new level. Trust me I'm positive there's some mod for the Resident Evil REmake or Resident Evil 5 that does that.

You should use that pre-intro scene from Way Of The Warrior in your next Valentines day Review^^ I really like the idea of a re-review for many reasons but one of the main ones being that you can use your current awesome research talent to give us some more detailed sweet sweet development history. And holy damn is that one hell of a story o.o I mean there are some people out there saying that game development was drama free but this... woooh. The edit that I loved the most was, how you implemented Megadeth lyrics that you give a hint on how to beat a boss XD But yeah Gex really does look stunning visually, I love that even though its 2D how much emphasis was made on making everything very lively. Like the Dragon Boss who crawls out of tunnels, or how Morphinas Bossfight makes it look like Gex is running very fast around or the dymanic zoom and camera changes during the Rez fight. Also many cool visual techniques that makes the levels seem very layerd and almost 3D. I also really like your explanation of why Gex didnt survive over the years. Yeah the TV References maybe kinda sorta timeless, but the whole attitude is something very 90s, like you said, its very niche and its hard to say if the game is for kids, teens or adults in some ways. While Spyro and Crash feel very timeless. Its also very interesting what you said about Nostalgia, like esspecially in gaming so many people mention the classics for example Crash Bandicoot and stuff and how the good ol times were the best and we dont have to fix what aint broken. But if you got something stuck in a specific time, not many people would say "Oh yeah the good ol days". I dont mean to knock on Gex in general, I only played and enjoyed Deep Cover Gecko, but its just interesting that when people talk about nostalgia they mostly just mention the very cream of the crop instead of experiencing everything that a certain decade would entail. And nice work duuuude! I enjoyed this review with some Pumpkin Soup, and I am so glad that there were no nasty glitches^^ So in a multitude of ways this review is a huge huge improvement and just goes to show how much your narration and writing has improved over the years, its just so much fun to see it all unfold^^
@TheSkully343Ай бұрын
Now I just need a Valentine themed game to review. Yeah, game development much as it might be somebody's dream job in a professional industry is still rife with a lot of hard deadlines and nose to the grindstone working conditions that can really suck the life out of you. Major credit to Crystal Dynamics for pushing through, let alone continuing on to Gex Enter the Gecko in 1998 given what happened in the first game. They made great use out of the way they layered sprites which seems to have been the big selling point of the 3DO version given some of the graphical effects used there, but the PS1 and SEGA Saturn seemed to accommodate quite well which gives Gex a nice visual zest that stands the test of time. I mean I'd hazard a guess and say that Gex is for a teenage audience, but what would've hilarious and cool to a 90s teenager is different from what would be cool to a teenager today in the 2020s which puts Gex in an awkward spot apart from what they see from internet reviewers who treat the character as more of a meme of I LOVE the 90s than anything else. Its easy to look back with rose tinted glasses at times but I suppose a lot of that is relative to your experiences where say someone who had a bad childhood but a great early 20s adulthood would probably have different things to say when looking back once they hit their 50s ya know? Glad to see I've made improvements over 10 years ^^ Enjoy your soup Skornie and watch out for Rez.
