Are there better methods to apply the meds? Perhaps dusting the worms or crickets?

what do i do if the budgie just doesn't open the jaw? she clenches it together and pushes every syringe out with her tounge T.T
@sushreeswagatikamishra71667 ай бұрын
I have same question. After 1st dose, she is aware that m going to give her medicine. She simply keeping her beak shut whenever the dropper is near her beak.
@gab.mattz2178 ай бұрын
Be careful not to let them bite syringe they can break their jaw!! You can get a Q-tip & let them bite onto that to keep mouth open for the syringe

This is the best way to aspirate your budgie. You dont EVER launch liquid into an open mouth. 🤬🤬🤬

if you want to choke a bird to death, this is the correct technique. bravo, doc. for the rest of you, 1. the syringe goes on the right sider (the bird is facing you, so your left) 2. dispense medicine from the side of the beak; dont shove the syringe in, 3. be gentle and dispense at a measured pace. at least he got the head holding right....
@sushreeswagatikamishra71667 ай бұрын
Yes I try to give her from side. Day 1 I succeed but from next day onwards she is not even opening her beak whenever the dropper is near her beak. I use dropper instead of syringe.
@MegaChelsea25 Жыл бұрын
I was always advised by vets to NEVER insert liquid via a syringe into the front portion of the beak like that, as they can easily choke that way???????????? PLEASE ANYONE WATCHING THIS VIDEO, GO AND RESEARCH OTHER VIDEOS ON HOW BEST TO DO THIS, AS SYRINGING DIRECTLY INTO THE FRONT PORTION OF THE BEAK CAN CAUSE CHOKING

thank you! you’re the only vet on here that’s shown how to actually do this without stressing my dude out !!!

My budgie also does the same :( When I tried to hold him to give his meds, he moved a lot, was screaming and wanted to escape from my hands. And when I came with the syringe, he kept his beak closed. And I couldn't get the meds in. Now I'm trying to put a few drops of medicine in his beak with the syringe, while I give him millet. Also difficult though, but less stressful then grabbing him. All my birds are syringe trained though, and they know how to drink drops of water from the syringe. But now with the medicine, my bird doesn't want it :'( Now I just hope the few drops each time, are enough to get him better. It's not the full dose, as my bird dislikes the taste and after a few drops, moves away from me. I hope he'll get better though.

Is it ok if the antibiotic injection is in the rear leg? I’ve read from the VCA website that it shouldn’t because the medicine will get filtered by the kidneys before it gets a chance to circulate. My vet has been injecting my res in the rear legs and I want to make sure it’s effective. Thank you for your time and knowledge Dr. Kline.
@amandamarary1185 Жыл бұрын
Hi Julia! Vet tech here, injections should only be in the front half of the body otherwise the kidneys will filter it out too quickly and the injections will be for nothing. Sorry for late reply but this channel just got recommended to me a few days ago. Best wishes for your lil one!!❤
@juliapadilla4064 Жыл бұрын
@@amandamarary1185 thank you for confirming. I had brought it up to the Vet techs there at that time and they looked at me stunned and said it didn’t matter. I hope they did some research on turtles after that. She did end up getting better though but probably no thanks to the injections. 🤦🏻♀️

I am a Vet Receptionist/Assistant(currently in Tech school at nearly 40)and a dragon mom. I work at an exotics clinic. My boy had an URI this past Nov, and my boss rxed Ceftaz. He came to work with me a lot while getting the injections. I went into "mom mode" and could not poke my baby lol 🤦♀️
@amandamarary1185 Жыл бұрын
You are stupid af, it's a damn dragon just give it the meds so it can feel better, you are not a mom you are a sorry excuse for a reptile keeper, cant handle giving an ugly lizard a shot then rehome it to someone who it doesn't bother to stab the vile creature when it needs its meds. You deserved to see your dragon die from going into mom mode as you call it🙄🙄 you are probably more ugly than the nasty lizard
