Wow. This is the best video I have seen about surfing at our spot. You describe it so beautifully and perfectly especially about waiting and chasing for that wave. When it happens the stoke lasts for days . Everyone is welcome to the line up as long as they say Hello and smile

Texas surfer living in Hawaii for past 30 years. I still miss those day’s driving up to the seawall to one of those dreamy offshore mornings breathing in the Texas City pollution. Ok. I don’t miss the pollution. Or those trips to south padre where i met my wife of 30 years. It really makes you appreciate good surf. Now i can go out almost any day and get unreal waves but i still reminisce about catching waves off the flagship tee head with the hoots and hollars of my dear friends. Thanks for sharing this video.

Great video! 🤙🏼🤙🏼Nice to see a TX 🇨🇱 surf video that isn’t about novelty waves of Waco pool 🏊🏼♂️ and ship channel 🚢 for a change! Yes-we DO have an actual surfing culture here. 🏄🏼♂️🌊🏄🏼♀️🌊🏄🇨🇱 As a transplant from Southern CA in 2012 (42 years there), being born and raised in Huntington Beach and surfing/living in that city for 25 years, I came to TX thinking there was “no surf” 🤔because that’s what people said. Well, it’s not true at all! 👎🏼‼️There’s plenty of surf, even sizable surf ☝🏼, but it isn’t always “clean” surf or clean surf conditions💨🌊🤷🏼♂️🌊. Yeah, the waves are slower ⏳, barrels are rarer🛢️, wave faces are less steep 📐, and lulls last longer📅, BUT the water is warmer 💧🩳🌤️ for a huge part of the year (trunking it is actually a thing here), surfers are much friendlier and less arrogant than anywhere I’ve ever been 🏅🤙🏼🏄🏼♂️😁, weather drama is synonymous with good surf days (you have to like it though) 🏄🏼♂️💨☔️🌨️🌫️⛈️and you spend more time long-boarding than you ever thought you would if you’re a CA shortboard surfer who transplants to TX 😅😅-but that’s okay with me because when I moved at 42 (I’m 55 now) I actually enjoy longboards more now and I know I’ve had more than my share of phenomenal shortboard conditions in CA, HI, Baja all my life so I’m I’m good with it! 🤙🏼🏄🏼♂️ 🇨🇱🇨🇱Overall, I love TX surfing-real surfing here and not wave pools or tankers either. I have yet to surf Waco and don’t think I ever will because a wave pool is missing so much of what I surf for! It’s not just about a perfectly shaped “wave” or sticking tricks (I mean yeah-for some it is just about that and I can’t relate to that mindset). The thought of paying 90 bucks an hour 💰 🤑to surf (paying for waves like items in a store) is absurd to me, just as following a long list of “safety rules” 🧾✔️to satisfy their lawyers and insurance companies 🤮 is totally foreign to surfing!

Something I have realized in forums and groups filled with editors and filmmakers is they don’t know about edit friendly codecs they see ProRes and see how large of a file it is and see h264 and see how small of a file it is and think “oh must be less power hungry on my computer” they don’t realize that what codec is being used and how native it is to your NLE can have a HUGE difference on playback. Often more compressed codecs = slower playback. I worked full time editing commercials 8+ hours a day 5 days a week and never had the premiere pro crash. Yet I see all these people saying how they prefer resolve because resolve doesn’t crash. When in my experience resolves timeline is a little clunky compared to Avid or Premiere. Great for color just clunky to edit in. And have never had issues like crashing in premiere. When using the software ALL the time as a pro I would notice some glitches in after effects and in premiere but it wasn’t hardware issues just little bugs in the software that after reaching out to them they would often have patched in the next update. But little things that only advanced users would probably be using as much as me so most KZbinrs probably wouldn’t notice unless working with a larger editorial team. But yeah I think people don’t know how to work with dailies.

Looking to use this combo for an upcoming short. Do I have to use the OLPF? Or can i just slap a Hoya R72 filter on the front?

Yeah, you need the OLPF to do it right.

@@Moviesauce gotcha, thanks! Is there a certain way to achieve the super dark sky that's @ 00:10? Also, is it hard to achieve focus with this setup? since there's multiple spectrums of light hitting the sensor?
@Moviesauce Жыл бұрын
@@aleclyons5755 Focus isn't affected by infrared. Works just the same. Best thing to do is to carve out some time to play with it and practice before committing to shooting with it for a short. Dark skies happen naturally with the infrared spectrum because there's no surface reflecting the light. Best way to think of it is you're only seeing things that absorb light. So leaves and organic material show up really well in direct sun. Best to shoot in harsh midday light, which is the opposite of what you would normally shoot. Artificial light/soft light doesn't read particularly well. Of course if you shoot with the OLPF and no R72 you'll get the full spectrum of light which creates some weird colors. With an R72 for infrared spectrum only, you'll want to want to shoot in direct sunlight. I have this video from NYC too. Good example is Time Square where all the electronic billboards/screen just look like they're turned off/black. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKvccpl4h91ro80
