You say "pre-baked pie shell" but I really think you mean unbaked pie shell. If that shell had been already been baked, it wouldn't be pliable enough to roll out and braid.

I think bachelor chow should be some kind of goulash, with meat, partially or fully dehydrated. With powdered gravy. Just add water and heat, like a cup noodle on steroids. 😊l
