I play the iOS version of this on my old iPad that I keep in ‘my office’, just about every time I have to sit and take care of some business. It’s been a long time since I’ve played in real life, although I hope my Grandniece will be ready for it shortly. Enjoy!

What's the point of using a camera in your video if you aren't going to communicate directly to the viewers? If this video was taken directly from a Twitch stream or the like, then again, what's the point of using a camera in your stream if you aren't going to speak to the viewers?
@longago-igo6 ай бұрын
@@omegacon4 Thanks for the comment. I guess using a video is to let the viewer know who is streaming. I’m not gregarious by any means, so I guess I speak when the mood strikes me or when a viewer makes a comment. There are far more knowledgeable folks to watch if you want a play by play or historical perspective. I don’t pretend to be more than I am. I just do my thing
@omegacon46 ай бұрын
@@longago-igo By all means, do your thing. Watching a "talking head" that doesn't really communicate to the viewer can be distracting from the video itself. Your content looks good otherwise!

@@omegacon4 There are some videos where I have a lot more to say, such as Ghost of Tsushima, where I have a strong opinion about how one should approach it, so the amount I have to say is greater. Although I like war games on video and boardgames (I’ve got all of Memoir ‘44), I’m not very good at them, even more so as I’ve gotten older, so moaning and groaning as I get badly hit is sometimes all there is.

recommendation: stick to one style of board instead of flipping back and forth. I prefer the on-line version with coordinates, but others prefer the real board. I don't like the flipping.

Thanks for the comment Fred. If you had seen my tagline on Twitch, you’d know it’s “If it’s not a production, it’s just a game of Go”. If you were to go back further, to when I was streaming from my old place, at a table on a folding goban, I had an even more ‘flipping’ approach, as I had highly mobile closeup cameras left and right. Having switched to using a floor goban at my new place, the look of my videos has changed too. There are lots of other Go streamers and KZbin video producers that I like to watch. I also like a single online view (when they do it). If my personality were more like them or I had greater Go knowledge, I’d probably make videos more like them, since my approach certainly has its issues.

Here’s one of the first matches I streamed from 3 years ago in November. It was from a live game with my friend Shaun in my living room. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXW9l52cqqeLhM0

Could you not have just used the real board to play the game and film it? Thanks for all the videos I enjoy them a lot :)
@longago-igo2 жыл бұрын
Good question with two answers. 1) Davy is from Tennessee, so all our future games would have to be online. We had earlier set him up with an account on OGS and we played there so he would be familiar with it for future games. Also, I wanted to show him and my son how I usually did my show. 2) In order to only play on the real board would require moving even more things around. As it was, I had moved the over-the-shoulder camera and the weather camera in order to have a right side and a left side wide view of the three of us. To play only on the real board, I would have had to move the board and the boom camera (or used a different camera as the board camera) and probably reset the lights to get proper illumination without glare off the board in the new position. Also, I would have wanted to have a camera for each of us, which means I would have to design a scene in OBS for each of us and then make a new page on the Stream Deck to incorporate the new scenes with the old ones that I could still use. A lot of work to set up, then to put back the way it was. 3) Oh, there’s a third. Most people only watch games online, so watching on a real board is interesting, but may be a little disorienting. My usual setup switches between the OGS view and the real board view, so the audience gets the familiar with the unique.

Thank you so much for the tutorial. I really appreciate the cadence of your explanations. It’s very refreshing. Many content creator explain things WAY too fast, often challenging keeping up. So, thanks again. Hoping that there’s more to come
