I had all the Bandai/Godaikin robots. I started collecting them in '82, a couple years before Voltron hit the airwaves and the marketed robots hit toy store shelves. In fact, I had to go to Little Tokyo in L.A. or Sawtelle in West L.A. to collect them. They didn't care them in big chain toy stores like KB Toys, Karl's or Toys R' Us. Not until Voltron came along. But I knew them as Godaikin/Bandai Robots. Two reasons Tetsujin is the rarest of this line is because, yes, it was more expensive to produce, requirement more metal, a full head or taller than the other robots and didn't carry over to the Voltron show which focused more on the detachable models. Tetsujin was the last Voltron I purchased when, by luck, they had it on hand at a small toy store close to by house when I was nine. It was one hell of a chunk of heavy metal.

I had these robots when I was a kid, I think they came with candy, but can’t really remember. They were made of a soft plastic, in bright colors, and were roughly the size of Muscles Figure. The interesting thing is that you had to put them together yourself. They came in 4-8 pieces depending on the robot and were quite detailed. Came in rubber or various colors, usually red, blue, green. Came in 1x molded part tree form with several body parts and often a weapon or two. I think there was a slip of paper. One side was a colored graphic for the toy line, the other side was a black and white instruction illustration. The whole thing came in a small clear plastic wrap. I can't find a picture or anything about it anymore, if anyone has a clue, inform. Thanks in advance!

6:15, oh noooo~ You're the only KZbinr who basically made a review of this guy. Really rare! 8:20, awesome beyond comprehension. 8:40, let's fry some Waruders! 15:20, the only time we ever see this guy is the commercial and that was cool. You and RoboToyWorld are possibly the only KZbinrs on the planet to review both Fortresses each. He did the main Robot Base which was already rare as poop. 20:20, I'm sure Takara Tomy will touch this with their Diaclone Reboot in the near future. Robot Base GX has already gotten a new toy to play with - the GX Sword so after that, who knows? Maybe Fortress X will be coming.

I have the second toy in the line-up. The cast iron horse with driver in a top hat. The story goes that the carriage was missing way back in 1925 when my grandma bought it at a junk shop. She was a young secretary in downtown Chicago. I wonder if it was a toy she coveted when she was a child.
