First saw them in '79, brand-new christian. First 'Jesus rock' i ever heard. They started me off right..thx to my friend Greg. My first thot: like zeppelin, but singing about the Lord. Then..Wendy like attax the mic, and im thinkin, better than Plant! Then Glen preaches, and the house is on fire- the Holy Spirit kind. 2 hecklers, one was saved, and the other walked. Fast forward 10 yrs, they're @ Jimi's old high school in Seattle. Due to a severe snowstorm all down I-5, not all their crew made it up. So, for those of us who stayed, we got to help them tear down. Such a great and lasting ministry!!

Mark reynolds knew exactly how to write for the show in percussion. During the quad break at state was the only time we got all 3 of us to do the wave correctly, LOL. And we got it right on camera! And on the third song, Mr. Mark Reynolds definitely hooked me up on the third tune for the quad part! And Mr. Fox always knew how to arrange a marching band!

If Christian radio sounded anything remotely like this, a lot more people would be saved.

Still enjoy listening to the original SCB and early Keaggy. Have nearly everything of theirs on vinyl, LOL. Bryan, by far, had, probably still has, the voice of an angel. But I have to give a shout out for a fellar who is still making phenomenal music today: Terry Scott Taylor (of Daniel Amos, The Swirling Eddie's, The Lost Dogs, and more)! Different music, for sure, but he's been very instrumental (pun intended) in my Christian development, so take every opportunity to support him.

Got to shake Phil Keaggy's hand at a concert once in Eugene, OR. He really has a couple digits partially missing on his strumming hand - and is still one of the best! Love that guy, and SCB.

Got to see SCB at college in 80/81, and Phil Keaggy in either 83 or 84 at The Agape Concert in Greenville IL. Can't remember who all played that day/evening, but Kerry Livgren and Dave Hope of Kansas gave both their testimonies that evening. I was hoping for a little jam session between them & Phil, but no. My girlfriend at the time bought Kerry's book "Seeds Of Change" for me though, it's a good read.

Obviously, it has been a long time since this video has been posted, and even longer since this video was recorded. I am wondering though if you have video of the World's Apart song performed at this festival. 17 year old me was there and during that Song God saved my life! I'd love to see video of that song.

Back in the 80s we had very few Christian bands compared to today. Petra was on of my all time favorites, their music was edifying and encouraging! Helped me get through some hard times for sure! Grave Robber is one of my favorite Petra songs!
@donmcc6573 Жыл бұрын
Very few? There were enough to support a festival like Cornerstone. There are nearly none today. Everybody is a worship band.

Listening to this, What can I say!? I want to jump in. More than once I have offered guitars because it is my gift and I love to play. Thank you for posting history. We enjoyed it. You have no idea. Brian Duncan vocals... It's not that it was a different time. It was a reflection. PEOPLE WANT THE REAL THING! That why I have offered guitars to Phil. I'm not looking for name. The Maker of the Universe.
