This date was the release of In The Dark, 1st studio album in 7 years. Don't play one song from the album...only GD would do that🥰

It's enough to make you cry and as great a short story as ever written. No wonder Dylan was given the Nobel prize for literature.

Driving down the highway to the concert that day the traffic came to a standstill it's like we drove through a Time Warp. All the dead heads dancing along the highway all the women sundresses selling flowers and pot brownies. the VW bugs buses and the smell of patchouli oil.

1987 was a very good year for the Grateful Dead.

Lesh is gone now but you have to understand that he was the Eddie Van Halen of bass players. He improvised so much that made the Dead special

This was the only MTV video that the Dead ever produced

Love that slow '50s' rock style. A classic sound all the way around. The sax is definitely the best instrument of them all! ...and he plays it so well!

People very rarely went to a Dead show and didn't have a good time. It was all about having a good time. Those were the days, that's for sure.

Jimminy Cricket, Jer was so healthy and beautiful again in 87. I always loved watching him play his solos TO his band mates. He’s listening intently to them as he weaves his magic. He’s having a grand time. And whoooooweee what a rippin’ Sugaree. My, oh my.
@michaellindley4 күн бұрын

it might just be nostalgia but a think 87 was some of the Dead's best shows. After Jerry's health scare in 86. they came back with a new sense of energy and purpose
@christophercook591518 күн бұрын
Completely agree! 87 was special! It changed after Brent passed and they could only play stadiums cuz of the mainstream success of In the Dark... Everything changed🤔
