When you initially hung the exhaust did you place it right where you wanted it to be and clamp it up or did you push it up tight to the floor to account for sag?
@BackyardGarage119 сағат бұрын
I put the exhaust where I wanted it to be and then tightened the clamps down. When the clamps were tightened and the hangers were in place, it stayed where I wanted it to.

Hi, I want to buy one for $1,350.00. The top won't go up. Sound like a motor problem. How do i get the top up? Where is the motor located?
@BackyardGarage1Ай бұрын
Is this a towlow or a Hilo that you’re looking at? The tow low like I have does not have a motor but only has a manual crank on them. There is a Facebook group for Hilo and they would know more about those than I would. They are very similar but the Hilo had motors and not tolows.

Hi there. This kit came with pretty much everything needed to require the whole car minus the AC wiring. There was no additional research that needed to be done and I am more than happy with what came in the kit. Ended up going through the same process...vice w/ heat, machine shop, then decided to just buy a harbor freight press. Only thing that I'd recommend to others is flip the extension. I did mine like the vid and it pressed the male end into the center of the pin. Had to smash it out. Flipped it so the female end is pressed against the wrist pin and works no problem.

What gauge wire were you using for power and for speaker? The wires on my pigtail for power and ignition are two different gauges which is why I'm asking.
@BackyardGarage13 ай бұрын
I believe I only had 12ga wire for both. Which would be fine as the fuse for the system was only 10amp and a 14ga wire would support this system just fine. But with your radio, it should specify the minimum gauge needed in the manual and they can generally be found online if you don’t have the printed copy. I just don’t want to tell you to use something and then it be wrong and catch on fire.

I’m new to motors what where you measuring on the cylinders right after showing us the rings? I’m gonna be building my first 350 here soon and just wanna know as much as I can
@BackyardGarage14 ай бұрын
I believe it’s the gap in the piston rings. There needs to be a certain gap when the rings are in the cylinder. Measuring the piston ring gap is crucial for several reasons: 1. **Thermal Expansion**: Piston rings expand when they heat up during engine operation. If the gap is too small, the rings can expand to the point where their ends butt together, causing them to seize in the cylinder, which can lead to severe engine damage. 2. **Sealing Efficiency**: The gap affects the ability of the rings to seal the combustion chamber. A gap that's too large can lead to blow-by, where combustion gases escape past the rings into the crankcase, reducing engine efficiency and power. 3. **Oil Control**: Proper ring gap helps maintain the correct amount of oil on the cylinder walls. A gap that's too wide can result in excessive oil consumption and increased emissions. 4. **Engine Longevity**: Correct ring gaps contribute to balanced wear patterns on the cylinder walls and rings, enhancing the engine's durability and performance over time. Ensuring the piston ring gap is within the specified tolerances is an essential step in engine assembly and maintenance, directly impacting the engine's performance and reliability.
