Good way to begin the deck building fun. Just a gist of what deck building games look like but lacking in depth. My friends could never comprehend the complexity of OPTCG and PTCG so I just bought this so I could have some fun with them whist enjoying my favorite archetype of games. I rate this game a 6.5/10

There is one flaw that I find with Inis, and that is that you can't read the effects of the advantage cards your opponents get for having a majority in a territory. You have to memorize them before they get into their hand, which makes it harder to have a good grasp of which territory you want to compete for.

I have some small nitpicks about this game, mainly having to do with the large amount of mechanics and "moving things" required to play. But at the same time I wouldnt want any of the mechanics removed, it all works so well together. If anything, this is a game that could do with a second edition with just a little bit of streamlining, find a way to make all of this work together without the need for all these tokens and cards and stuff with stuff. And reduce the size of the stupidly oversized minis! But all in all, this is a superb game and any time its on the table its time well spent, solo as well as multiplayer. I love it and wish it was set in the actual Alien setting!

Just typing what I want to add to my comment from before in a seperate comment, in case many comments are good for your channel. I think one of the most crucial points of finding a good board game reviewer is to find someone who has a similar way to analyze what makes a board game good or bad. I find your way to think about a game very well matching so I am glad I stumbled over this channel.

I’m checking around to see if people perceived the game like I did, and your review is absolutely spot on! Yes, it is complicated and you will probably need someone experienced to facilitate gameplay, but learning the flow of gameplay is extremely rewarding and will continue to develop over each play through. I’ve played around seven to eight games now and I still haven’t won, but that didn’t stop me from blowing that sucker up to prevent everyone else from winning! 😈 For those of you wondering if this is worth the money, the game is 100% worth every penny if you give it enough time!!! Don’t stop when it gets difficult and keep your rule book handy! I would definitely rank this among my favorites, ESPECIALLY with friends who enjoy it! Thanks for the review!

Good review. I love high player interaction in board games (which is why I love Cthulhu Wars). The problem with many eurogames is even at multiplayer, it feels like you are playing solo, you're just playing solo with other people playing solo. I think INIS is next on my list to buy.

Sorry, but how exactly does "card drafting take luck away"? How can drafting not be based on luck? What am I missing?

There is also a rule that comes with the expansion that 'solves' long stalemates. ('We need a king' module.) I haven't played it yet, but from what I hear I would house rule that after the 3rd(?) tie, a final round is played and then unless there is no tie, the Brenn will win.

Great quality review. Wish I could paint my mini’s just like yours they look so sick. I’m actually in the process of learning the rules. Going to play solo and couple times so that when I play with my group I’ll be able to handle everything like you advised.

I guess the game isn't me unfortunately. Even though I LOVE the concept of a game like this which is the closest we have an actual aliens movie, I would be hard press to find people who would be willing to play. Most of my friend group likes iconic games or games that are quick and easy to pick up. Also it may be a bit too complicated even for me at times which is ironic since I love playing complicated game like chess. I may mess up and forget a step or action. The randomness may become annoying for a person like me since as a chess player, I like to strategize my moves and develop a plan. But then again I understand that people prefer randomness because it prevents games from developing winning strategies and gives new plays a chance to win. I wish the rules were simplified so that it would be easier for new players to understand. Sidenote: this game would make an excellent episode in love, death, and robots.

We have two house rules for this game. We take out all the event cards that has an "...then you die." It makes the game more fun as everything you do no longer can be thrown out due to a stupid random card. Also, when the nest is found, at the end of every turn we will remove one egg and put in an Intruder token into the bag as they hatch. It makes the nest turn into a big deal and you want to actually do something when it's found outside of taking an egg.
@nicolasarevalo60248 ай бұрын
Huuuu. While I wouldn't say I like your first house rule, your second one blew my mind. Will try it out for sure!! great idea. Just a thought regarding the first one, to give something back. If you die from an event deck card... most likely an eclosion card, it's not that random, it can be easily avoidable by protecting yourself with one card from larvas. The thing I love about Nemesis is how it can be brutal, but at the same time, it's almost 99,5% haha of the time your fault. Thx again for that nest house rule, brilliant!

I used a bunch of citadel paints. Incubi darkness washed with a black, then drybrushed up with kabalite and syberite green. I can't quite remember the chest glow paints I used though.

I recommend playing full co-op for people's first game as this lets everyone learn the different rooms and mechanics together and doesn't spoil hidden objectives. Then once everyone understands how to play, semi-co-op makes a lot more sense and doesn't leave people feeling entirely helpless... until the Queen appears!

Bought Inis about a month ago because of this review. 5/5 The channel is very well done, your reviews are to a high standard (just like your Hunt videos) and your 'is it for you?' approach makes it stand out from the usual rule explaining and "5 tips" videos. Keep up the good work 👍

1 small problem.. 🤔 u didnt even touch really how is it for a solo play.. is it worth it if you plan on JUST solo for now? and take account on specifically single play as a factor to anything in the good/bad/worth playing..
@turningthetable942 жыл бұрын
Solo play works fine, but it misses out on all the best bits of Nemesis. There is no traitor/conflicting objective in solo obviously, and the game really relies on the emergent stories between players. I played solo to learn the rules before teaching, but I wouldn't set it up for solo again.

For thriller solo I think this war of mine board game will make good solo replay ability compare to nemesis. Different theme and genre but similar in terms of thrill in playing the game.

Not a big fan of plastic meeples. Especially when wooden meeples are so ubiquitous. And the boards just have too many mismatched colors. It feels as if they hired an artist on fiverr for the artwork, but skimped on a graphics designer for the actual boards

Plastic works well for some games, but wood was probably the way to go here.
