One thing that also helps with not binding the close limit, is push the door all the way down, hold the top of the door against the opening, and set the top rollers against the wall side of the track. I've found that to help get the door fully closed without binding, and it doesn't bind the release.

Hi Roman, Thank you for the excellent video. I have 2 Sommer Synoris openers from 2013. I removed the control housing and cleaned the contacts, but this did not fix the problem. I contacted Sommer and was told there is a replacement kit with 2 contacts and a new pressure plate assembly. The older models used a long plastic pin to attach the housing to the bar. The kit is covered under the lifetime warranty and arrived quickly. Replacing the contacts (with excellent tips from your video) and installing the new pressure plate fixed my opener. A heads up to anyone with an older model. Contact Sommer directly to get your contacts and the pressure plate assembly sent for free. I initially did not read all of your responses and see you have mentioned the pressure plate, and it wasn't until I re-watched this video (after my install) that I saw you discussed the pressure plate at the very end. Wanted to make sure that your poster @greggbieber9662 and others (with an older opener) got new contacts AND the pressure plate assembly from Sommer.

If you have a SOMMER motor, it has to have a reset button. If it's an evo+ or pro+ model, the reset button will be on the motor carriage circuit board--you'll have to remove the motor carriage cover. Reset instructions for those models are in section 7.14 in this manual: www.sommer.eu/SOMMER/Downloads/Montageanleitung/Garagentorantriebe/USA/evo/usa_evo-plus_46900V024_122022_0-DRE_Rev-C_US-EN.pdf.

Thanks for the video Roman, I have just ordered the EVO+ with the swing door coupler for our carriage garage doors. Curious why you need to add that piece to the back of the motor when using this for swing doors. Thanks again
@romantroyer5157

That coupler has to be added as part of the system that allows the safety sensors to function in the correct direction. If you install it the way you would for a standard overhead door, the motor direction is wrong. I've explained this a bit in some of the videos where I show swing door installations.

@@MichaelSalois yes, you're correct about the reversed orientation of the operators on swing doors. Blue goes to gn and brown goes to rt. That's in the operator manual. Generally, the pro+ operator manual contains basic installation and programming information, and the sheet that comes with the swing door kit acts as an addendum to the manual. Also, be sure to turn DIP switch 4 on the motor carriage to the ON position before you start the programming sequence.

I recently acquired a new home with a Sommer operator and an outside remote keypad. The remote keypad has never worked, the distributor shipped a new one, and it refuses to connect. I would check two things. First, make sure that when you press the last digit of your code, both lights above the keypad are coming on briefly. If only one is coming on, then the code is not correctly programmed. Second, make sure your Telecody is close to the motor carriage when you are programming it. SOMMER limits range for programming to avoid cross-programming, and I have seen instances where it wouldn't program when it is mounted to the door jamb, and I had to bring it over to the motor carriage for programming, but range was normal afterward.

Great video but do you know why our garage light would start flashing after we do this?
@romantroyer5157
@romantroyer5157 Жыл бұрын
If you have a Synoris or Direct Drive model, the light is likely flashing because the operator was accidentally reset during the Homelink training process, in which case you'll just need to run the operator a few full cycles until they stop blinking. It's also possible that the car was accidentally set to turn on the lights instead of run the door? If the Learn button is pressed twice instead of once, the button in the car will turn on and off the lights instead of operating the door.

This one's been in for over two years, and my oldest side mounts have been in for 8+ years. There are a few things you want to be careful about in installation, such as making sure the c-clips for the pins don't catch on the rail, which can make them fall out. Also, the hinge at the bottom of the top section should be minimum 14 gauge--preferably 11 gauge--since there's a bit of additional force applied to the bottom of the top section as it transitions through the radius. Otherwise, I haven't had any problems from them.
