I use a blue shield 11018 rod. I’m a block apprentice in Canada and my father wants me to weld a new blade on the bucket of his loader. What do you recommend the amps I should use for hardened steel

I love downhill. once you get it, you can downhill big gaps. it’s all about that sound and movement keep the rod moving a little side to side to flick slag away and long arc just a little bit if there is build up that won’t flick away. Also helps to point the rod slightly upwards.

I just got an old Master Mechanic toolbox just like this yours. I was hoping to just buy new slides. However, with this design, that's not going to be possible without a major rework. Hopefully, I can get everything bent back in place.

Preheat and electrode positive. 50-80 amps for 3/32 and you have to have a very clean surface prep. do not contaminate with a perused wire brush or grinding wheel from other material. the rod is intended for a horizontal weld. prep rod tip with a file for a better ark start.
