Could I slap a 29 wheel in a 275 with a lyric fork? Or would I need a new fork? Looking at on one FB marketplace

It's possible with 2.2 or smaller tires.

Yes there was plenty of air in my shock not sure about guys referring to in video. Cascade link went over center over compressed rear shock jamb rear tire against seatpost I went over the bars took 3 bike mechanics to pull it out apart sent link and frame to cascade for evaluation and they did not find anything wrong except minor bearing wear nor did they take responsibility for their bad design and they sent all it back said tuff luck pal we can’t find any fault with our product. Lesson learned Factory engineers design frames best not to try to make a frame travel further than it was designed for! If you want more travel buy it from factory with the travel you want. Now I’m stuck with a damaged $4k carbon frame front triangle with a chunk out of carbon. I changed Hightower back to Santa Cruz standard link to be safe. I have videos without shock on that I sent to Cascade they ignored. You can see how link allows head of bolt to gouge into carbon frame and jambed bottom out. Note: I am not the friend who broke a triangle. The factory link doesn’t allow it to go over center. Cascade is a poor company …. My opinion 😡

I love this so much. My first ever MTB race was this exact venue some 15 years ago and it went exactly like this. I raced for about 5 years then haven't biked in last 10 years. I am just now thinking about getting back into it and found this video. It is totally inspiring me to get back out there. Great job! and thanks for the motivation

Tip, we dont wanna see a 6 minute ride on the lift, get to the riding a littler earlier in your videos, just a short clip of the lift ride is enough. You'll get people to watch longer

Cascade links are made for really aggressive and advanced riding Basically it's like driving a formula 1 car in city traffic If you're a beginner or less skilled rider, keep this in mind guys
@jaeyd4
@jaeyd4 Жыл бұрын
Tbh it looks like your riding doesn’t match what the secus or cascade link were designed for. You are not an aggressive rider and look fairly stiff and apprehensive, especially on more technical charging sections. You will not be able to reap the benefits of the secus or cascade link at the current level of riding that you are doing as they are made to improve the performance of the suspension under harsher conditions that perhaps surpass what the fork was designed for. There are no heavy charging sections, drops, jumps or rock gardens where you would really need more progression than a stock shock provides, provided it is set up correctly. They’ll sell to anyone, but these products aren’t really targeted at beginners

@ThePedalDad
@ThePedalDad 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, I did not experience that, maybe something is loose? or the holes are not aligned? or the secus is hitting the fork? The only sound that I hear is the louder hiss when the fork compresses, but no rattling. Please reach out to vorsprung, they are very helpful.

The xxl hightower rear triangle is situated the same distance away from the bottom bracket like the example you show of the cascade one. I’m not criticising, just mentioning it that’s all. 👍🏻

It's a bit of a stretch to say the link caused your friend's rear triangle to break. The main reason by rear triangles break is if you don't put enough air in your shock and you bottom it out hard, putting a ton of stress on the frame members. I'm guessing it's likely your friend didn't add air to account for the higher leverage ratio the new link provides.

Where are these progression drops at the beginning of the video? I've been to MC many times and never been able to find those

I’ve have a Secus on a 2021 Fox 36 for over a year now and I’m not sure I see your point about the increased midstroke support being bad for climbing. I climb a lot and I’ve never had any need to “push” the fork into the trail when climbing (or what you seem to be desiring is more sag). Climbing is more about cardio, body position, bike geometry (including front end height), technique and tires/pressure. That said, to each their own and different forks likely respond to the Secus in different ways, so my expectations/experience might not reflect yours. Another point of note is that I think it makes sense to consider that the Secus, being designed by Vorsprung in Whistler, is really designed for a aggressive, fast riding and rough trails. In my opinion that is where is truly shines. Based on the trails shown in the video, the Secus wasn’t really put through the paces it needs to excel. So depending on the variety of terrain you’re on, the Secus may or may not really show it’s potential. For me, I couldn’t get my stock ‘21 Fox 36 to feel good and it was harsh & uncomfortable when the psi was pumped up high enough to prevent brake dive (midstroke support). The Secus fixed all of that in an instant. I can really blast fast down some choppy terrain with more stability and control now, but the harshness is gone. Last point, the Secus is actually a dual chamber design, not just an external negative spring. It utilizes a dual chamber with Midstroke Support Valve. I also use a Cascade Components link on my Druid and, similar to my Secus opinion, it really shines on rough trails, jumps and drops with the added travel and progression. Thanks for your review.
