Dave _did_ kill Lord English, just not the one facing Vriska. He killed the one possessing Jack Noir (post-scratch kids' version), during the events of [S] Collide. Fittingly, it caused a black hole to appear.

You, sir, really made me to think over this. I'm that kind of guy who lookes at the mistakes caused by games and fandoms, taking notes, trying to speculate the future, thinking inside the box but not too deep and thinking outside the box but not too far. Homestuck/Hiveswap is not an exception. If the creator/company creates something great and heartwarming to the fans who buy their stuff makes me calm and optimistic. It's pretty understandable that the development has been "mysterious"(?) and that worries me too but I too decide not to panic and "hit the alarm", so I, too, hope that Andrew Hussie and the What Pumpkin Studios know what they are doing. That already happened before with the other fandoms. Scott Cawthon created the FNaF fanbase that made quite a mess in the internet. Toby Fox, too, with Undertale, so I'm pretty paranoid about it. But, of course, I have hope that everything will work out fine. We just have to do... something because who knows what will happen in the future. Hopefully, something good. No. Something incredible. -Andrew P.S. Hello from Russia

I personally like the theory that they are teleported to Earth C. They live on earth for "4 years" (You got Dave and his time shenanigans). One of the biggest things not truely explained was when John RetConned to fight Caliborn. In the Credits, John becomes depressed and near the end. Caliborn threatens John with Liz. I believe this is where the Beta Heroes go to Caliborn, and thus filling the Caliborn's plot hole.

Just a tidbit about Vriska using the juju. I think the kids actually just exit the juju and kick the weekend Caliborn into the pocket. they just dont show the fight sense we just watched a big final struggle with collide. I would have loved to see Vriska's reaction to john and the other kids exiting the big weapon she had been hunting for all this time. We do know that Aradia enjoys working with the dead and we have seen through the meteor trip that one can travel between sessions through open space, as well as that all sessions ever happen at the same time in a way... and sense aradia is a time player, she could easily just do her thing with the dead of every session that ever happens for all time.

A, B and C universe. A~Trolls B~Humans C~Could be Cherubs, since the earth near the dying sun were said to have been relocated from another universe to where it is now, and that same earth near the dying star is where caliborn and calliope were, so... yes, universe C is of the Cherubs. Three spheres? Could be indeed universe A, B and C, she could have 'fetched' their 'echo' or their power itself, and 'being one' with their space. Like, she is 'turned' into the black hole along with that field the three orbs generated. So, they could be like 'pointers' (as in programming) that points to the universes energy, and she is inspiring herself in that energy to turn into a black hole and draining the green sun. Now, one interesting thing is, the black hole after sucking the green sun can shatter reality and 'suck' reality itself too, and that's really scary, but it's really possible that Calliope became Space itself, and thus the black hole is conscious, that's why it has 'broken reality' up near LE (that one part where his shifting-cueballs eyes stop to the 8 ball, so it is possible that the black hole just sucked up his powers), making him not unbeatable (but still hella strong, that's why the artefact that vriska used were necessary.), those are my thoughts at the relation of Black Hole, Green Sun, the Three Universes, Dead Calliope and the demise of Lord English. Yes, there is in total only 3 universes since the post-scratch versions are actually inside the same frog as the pre-scratch ones. That's it since one universe/frog contains all of its versions/timelines (that's also why when dirk was fighting the drones, Red Miles has manifested, it was just 'appearing' from space itself, like it were ripping on Universe B/Frog B ) (But it has not affected their sessions since the sessions are not inside their frog, it is on the void) (the void is also known as the furthest ring, the sessions create a stable space in the furthest ring, that stable space is called Incipisphere)

ALRIGHT I'M GOING TO EXPLAIN THIS ALL TO YOU DUMBFUCKS OUT THERE; NOW THE JUJU WAS SUPPOSED TO (AND I QUOTE) "SUMMON GREAT HEROES" ALRIGHT? THE "GOOD ENDING" WAS JUST A PROJECTION, A THING THAT WOULD'VE HAPPENED IF THEY WEREN'T TELEPORTED TO THE DREAM BUBBLE. NOT CLEAR? WELL WE CAN CLEARLY SEE A DOOR FORMING IN THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER OF THE JUJU WHEN VRISKA USES IT, AND 1 OR 2 MINUTES LATER WE CAN SEE THE SAME *EXACT* DOOR FORMING ON THE HOME ON THE LILY PAD. NOW EVERYONE ON THE LILY PAD, IS A GREAT HERO. NOW I DON'T KNOW WHY VRISKA WOULD DO THIS, OR IF SHE KNEW WHAT SHE DID, BUT WHAT I'M ENOUGH SURE ABOUT, IS THAT EVERYONE DIES. EVERYONE IS DEAD, THEY WERE ALL TELEPORTED TO THE DREAM BUBBLE TO HELP VRISKA FIGHT LE AS SOON AS JOHN OPENS THE DOOR. THE LAST IMAGE OF THE SBURB GATE REPRESENTS EMPTINESS, THE GAME WAS RESTARTED BECAUSE LE PROBABLY DID SOME WEIRD TIME SHIT AND FUCK ALL HAPPENED.

Wait...Caliborn may now be immortal but so are the kids now...
@DivineErdrick8 жыл бұрын
This is one of the things left untold by this ending, and I'm hoping it will be addressed in the epilogue. After all this would make for great epilogue material. If the kids are immortal gods, how is that going to affect their place in their new universe? Karkat seemed to believe that after they entered the Beta Kid's universe, they'd be able to rule over it. But he's not exactly the most reliable narrator. One theory suggests that now they'll be beyond the reach of the Judgement Clock. But what that means, no one actually knows. It could remove their immortality, it could make them truly immortal. Probably the greatest area of exploration though, is if the kids are immortal, what does that mean for their friends? Can Jane extend their life the way the Condesce extended the Psiioniics? What would that mean for the society? Jane can't possibly extend the life of all the carapacians and consorts. What happens when the human population starts to grow? The trolls'? Who gets to have such a gift? What about the new mother grub? Could Jane possibly keep it alive indefinitely? But what if Jane can't? How long can Karkat live with his mutant blood? How long will Kanaya live as a Rainbow Drinker? Will Calliope stay alive as long as she has the ring? How long do carapacians live? Who will have to watch their closest friends and loved ones die, and when? The main story of Homestuck may be over, but there's still plenty of universe left to explore.

i think that the end of act 7 and Caliborn gaining full power was just before his masterpiece and before becoming Lil Cal
@DivineErdrick8 жыл бұрын
There are many theories on how Caliborn's Masterpiece fits into Act 7. Obviously the Caliborn portions are him achieving his full power prior to actually becoming Lord English. But as I say in the video, the appearance of the kids in Caliborn's Masterpiece is clearly due to John's retcon powers. Some people have speculated that after winning the game, John and the other God Tiers go back to fight Caliborn. My belief is that our unaccounted for John from this page, www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=009071 , is the John that goes to fight Caliborn in the Masterpiece with the God Tiers.

The house Vriska summon have a door opening right? It is opening as the Furthest Ring is taken damage from the black hole Alt-Calliope created. Let's leave this here. Then there's the house that appeared on the platform our successful heroes are standing on, watching the Genesis Frog do it's thing. That house switched with a door placed on the other half side of it. Unlike the one Vriska summoned. The door handles appear that way too. Here's what I'm getting at, what if the juju Vriska was using is a portal of some sort. Where to? The platform. Next we have John opening the door at the platform. If the juju is a portal, two things could happen there. - One, the blackhole already pulled in the battlefield between the ghosts and LE. John opens the door and the blackhole would just him, the others, and the platform within and into itself. - Two, we have an unseen clash between the already victorious heroes and LE as the blackhole looms onward. Anyone see what I'm going with this?

Hmm! This is actually really interesting. I heard a rumor that Hussie had mentioned a second ending to Homestuck. I haven't been able to verify this, but wouldn't that make this the ultimate psyche out Hussie ever pulled. Not really sure the fandom would forgive him though; that would have to be one heck of a final fight scene. I've heard lots of explanations for the white Sburb symbol at the end, from the more meta theories, to the simple idea that white is the combined colors of all the sessions present (Blue/Violet for the trolls, Green for the Beta Kids, Red for the Alpha Kids.). I still think that the combination of the Thank You For Playing sequence and the final gate fading out means that the kids successfully entered the new universe. But this still makes for very ripe ground to explore.

mspfanventures.com/?s=14278&p=1 (cough) (cough) basically the fandom is working on act 8 (cough) (cough)
@DivineErdrick8 жыл бұрын
There are at least two more projects I know of where the fandom is working on an Act 8 for Homestuck. Considering there are still lots of things I'd like to see that aren't necessary to the main story, I'm curious to see where these projects go. Stories about the sprites, the four trapped kids actually joining the fight with Lord English, and some stories surrounding what happens when the kids enter the new universe would be wonderful. Personally though, I think that any such project should wait until after the Epilogue, as this may create canon situations that the fandom wants to see. As to goals to rewrite the ending, I would have to solidly group those as an AU. After rereading the entire comic from beginning to end, I feel this ending truly is the ending to Homestuck. There is still room for Epilogue content, obviously. But this is the ending to the story Andrew Hussie wrote. Whenever fans step in to "fix" a project, you always run the risk that the project will end up including more fanon then canon, causing the "fixed" ending to not fit the story and character at all. You may not like this ending, but trust me, it can get much worse! Don't believe me? Watch the original Evangelion series and then watch the two original Evangelion movies. Anno intentionally added all of the fan desires he could into the End of Evangelion, in as horrible a way as he possibly could. The result is you go from a relatively happy ending to one of the most depressing, emotionally draining, and psyche destroying experiences in anime. Fan desires =/= better story.

Ok, here's the thing when it comes to leaving plot threads hanging. If no one actually has any clue what happened in the ending, then it was left hanging. Sure, you can dig down into the details to figure out that certain things had to have happened in order for other things we see to be possible, but that's not resolving plot threads. That would be like looking at a puzzle and going, "Done!" without ever actually doing anything with it, because there's only actually one way to solve the puzzle so you're basically done from the beginning. Don't get me wrong, I *love* to dig down into the details and figure stuff out. But I don't love being forced to do that in order to figure out if there's a satisfying ending or not. Probably my least favorite book of all time is "The Lady and the Tiger". I don't care nearly as much what the exact details of an ending are as I do that I get to see how it's put together. I enjoy fiction because I love seeing how characters respond to stuff, and we got NONE of that here. I was absolutely not down with the final close of Homestuck being nothing but a video in the first place, but a video with a "you figure it out" ending is the worst of all possible worlds. There WERE hanging plot threads. There were HUNDREDS of hanging plot threads. The main one being that there wasn't at any point an actual climax. The video was the denouement. Where is my climax?!?
@DivineErdrick8 жыл бұрын
So first of all, I will continue to say that if you don't like the ending, that is fine. This was a long, sometimes arduous story that we all got very invested in. It's almost going to go without saying that the conclusion to such a story is not going to satisfy a lot of people. There are also certainly some plot threads left hanging. To some people, those hanging threads are always going to nag at them. My personal bugbear remains the sprites to this day. There is information in the comic to make a guess as to what happens to them, but I really wanted to know. The fact that they are absent bothers me. On the other hand, I don't need to see the full loop for how Liv/Terri got their weapons. Calliope said she took care of it, and that's good enough for me. But I disagree with many of your assertions. There are plenty of people who understand the ending. By your logic does that mean that no threads were left hanging? Some of them? Are the percentage of threads left hanging equal to the percentage of fans who don't understand the ending? Whether a plot thread is hanging has nothing to do with who understands the ending. In fact, it has nothing to do with the ending at all. It is perfectly acceptable to end a plot thread well before the ending to a story. It is also not true that a plot thread is left hanging because the story is made in a puzzling manner. If a plot thread is resolved, the plot thread is resolved. It doesn't matter if a clear linear path exists to follow the thread, or if you have to untangle it to see where it headed. And your metaphor doesn't really work here. You can look at an unfinished puzzle and say, "done" because the puzzle only has one outcome. But this isn't satisfying. Just because you can see the outcome of the puzzle on the box, doesn't mean that the puzzle isn't satisfying. The point of a puzzle isn't the solution, it's putting it together. Again, some people like puzzles, others see them as a waste of time. If you don't like puzzles that's fine. But Homestuck has never pretended to be anything else. It has never at any point said, "Hey, I've got a clear linear story for you with easy to follow plots to its ending." It's always been presented in a puzzling manner with pieces often not making any sense to how they could fit until further on in the story. I, and many others, feel that now we have all the pieces the puzzle comes together in a mostly satisfying way. (Again, the sprites!) And again you say there are hundreds of hanging threads but you don't list any. And, no, the lack of climax is not a hanging plot thread. First, that's story structure, not plot thread. Second, we got one. It was called Collide. It was always Collide. It was always meant to be Collide. Hussie told us that the climax would be in Act 6 years ago. He also told us Act 7 would be denouement, especially seeing as how once you've done the climax that's all that's left. Again, if you don't like the ending that's fine. I just personally don't understand why so many people are angry about things that are characteristic of Homestuck, and mad at Hussie for writing the comic the way he always has and doing what he said he would all along.
@carrionpigeons8 жыл бұрын
He didn't write it the way he always has. That is very much the problem. Homestuck always went into excruciating detail about everything. The fact that we got a vague nebulous sort-of almost ending as a resolution to a story which has always been high-detail is a very big part of the reason I hated it. Also, Act 6 can't have been the climax because Act 6 didn't resolve anything.
@DivineErdrick8 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but I can't agree with either of these statements. Hussie has been vague plenty of times in the past. He does not always go to excruciating detail about everything. Long winded dialogues and the occasional info dumps do not mean excruciating detail. Here are some examples: Before Cascade, Nana is on the battlefield. When did she get there and what happened to John's amulet after it sunk into the oil? How did Bro die and Davesprite lose his wing? We know it must have been in the fight with Jack, but we don't see it. And, my personal favorite, how did the trolls win their game? This was left so open to the imagination that fans actually got together and animated their own version. That's just off the top of my head. And all of this happened in Act V, when everyone claims Homestuck was at it's best. The ending to Homestuck is not any more vague or nebulous then the rest of it. And again, every choice he made for how he brought Homestuck to an end, he told us about ahead of time. And I will continue to insist he brought it to an end. We see the birth of the new universe. We see the end of Paradox space. We see the kids claim their reward. We even see Caliborn beat his session. Hell we see the construction of can town! And yes, we see Lord English defeated: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYHcfJSYbcijg7s . That's an ending. All the important things that needed to happen, happened. As for your last statement, I'll just remind you of two things. One, resolution and climax are two different parts of story structure. Two, Act 6 resolved plenty. Just in Collide we have the defeat of the Condesce and Jack English, Jake finally achieving a victory, PM defeating Jack and securing his ring, Dirk finally giving up control, Dave finally accepting his role as hero, and Karkat beating an impossible foe. Oh, and just for the icing on the cake, WV reunites with Serenity. All of this is in addition to things that were wrapped up prior to Collide.
@carrionpigeons8 жыл бұрын
Being able to name a whole bunch of things that happened doesn't mean anything was resolved. The video link you offer has a whole bunch of "we're supposed to infer" in it. "We're supposed to infer" isn't part of the story. "We're supposed to infer" is the puzzle. "We're supposed to infer" is where you get to dig down into details and learn something about the characters. But it isn't story! This is the point I made in my first post. Despite all of the meta aspects of Homestuck, it's still a story and is still subject to the actual rules of storytelling. You can give credit all you want to Hussy for supposedly putting enough detail into the ending for people to figure out what happened, but that doesn't mean any of what people figured out is actually part of the story. Bro's death is a good example. Bro's death scene isn't in Homestuck. It literally is not in the story. But if I ask you what part of the story Bro's death scene would have contributed to, there isn't a good answer, because it actually doesn't matter that much how he died. I'd have liked to have the opportunity to see it, but it isn't important to the story. The fight with Lord English, on the other hand, is *absolutely* important to the story. It's the capstone of the actual largest arc in all of Homestuck. Missing that and leaving it for people to infer is not okay. There are plenty of people out there who have told me "but the detail is all there if you just digest everything in the video and figure it out" but that is NOT the point of a story. digesting everything in the video and figuring stuff out is fun and a big part of Homestuck, but it doesn't excuse a writer from the need to actually include all the elements of the actual story into the narrative. Cascade is a great example of putting in a huge amount of detail to digest while still actually following story structure. Act 7 had even more detail, but it failed at actually following story structure.
@DivineErdrick8 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but we're going to have to just agree to disagree here. You keep complaining about people saying you have to read in more, infer things, digest things, and claim that those things mean that there is no story/ending/structure. But that is simply not true. You are always reading in more when you read a story. You are always inferring when you read a story. You are always digesting more than the literal words when you read a story. The question is, how much? If you feel Homestuck's ending requires too much inference, reading in, or having to digest too much meaning, that's fine. But that does not mean the meaning isn't there. That does not mean the story isn't there. No matter how much you reiterate it, it's still a non sequitur. For readers like myself, the amount of analysis we've put into Homestuck is satisfactory. Hell, some of us found Homestuck more enjoyable because of that analysis. You obviously don't like how much Hussie asked of your ability to interpret his story. I obviously did. We are literally arguing taste at this point, and that's a gap that can't be bridged.

I thought when I saw the ending, that the very end showing how Caliborn got his power was a contrast what was now clearly a hollow victory in achieving immortality, which is the start of the path that would now inevitably lead to his defeat. Basically that he made the wrong choice at that point and grasped defeat from the jaws of a still possible victory. And thus that we got illustrated the full folly of his choices and his short sightedness, and that where he failed in his folly, the kids in the end chose to go the right way and take a longer term perspective and forge a path to leaving the game. Or to put it the other way, you can see the kids doing at that very moment what he really needed to be doing to win, he needed to be there to leave the game, but he isn't. Instead he's gotten caught up in to what is probably a very unfavourable battle with Vriska, the heroes who are coming out of the house juju and the black hole consuming the green sun and thus denying an important part of his power and possibly going to do worse yet soon, and he thus no longer has the ability to get to where the kids are on time any more. (Unlike his sister who is there and thus can win the game) Thus he has thus lost, and there is no way for him to win any more. He is not getting out, he can not steal their victory for himself.

yes I agree. Claiborn/LE ultimately failed when he prioritized power and destruction. also its funny to imagen the beta and alpha kids thinking of Claiborn's masterpiece as just a chore they have to do to clean up the timeline, because sure, it helps/helped LE, but they know his path just ends in his destruction anyway.

We know what happens next. The eight kids go forward in time, meet newly poolballeyed Caliborn, get sucked into the juju/stuff caliborn and co. into lil cal.

I liked the happy ending and I like this theory but I still want to see Lord English get bodied.

+PointBlank303 I think we all wanted that. I know that in the long run it might not be important to the story. But think of how satisfying an end we got for Lord Jack and The Condesce. Why couldn't we have that for Bec Noir and Lord English?

the biggest issue with this is the sprites. Why is it when the players reach the lily pad, the sprites just cease to exist? it happened with the trolls' session too. We presumed they'd died in battle, but its not fully clear if they did or not. So this kind of proves that there's something linked to the sprite's disappearance due to the kids winning the game.

+mahmud ghdamsi I definitely agree with this. I have a theory of what happened to the sprites, based on the fact that we see Davesprite, Jadesprite, and Nannasprite on The Battlefield before Cascade. (Jaspersprite is still on LOLAR, throwing a hitch in this, though he may have left after talking to Nepeta) But the fact that the sprites seem to be drawn to the battlefield makes me wonder if their energy contributes to the birth of the Genesis Frog. None the less, though, I wish that Act 7 had shown SOMETHING about what happens to them.

Can you link to the audio recording of the theory? I couldn't find it

I don't know if it was explained, but how did gamzee get to calliborne's session?
@DivineErdrick8 жыл бұрын
+Alphanaxx The theory I keep hearing is that the black hole left by Lord Jack acted as a gateway to Caliborn's session, taking Gamzee, the crowbar, the golden staff, and possibly also Lil Seb.
