Daaaammn as a pastors kid this is beautiful to listen to Andrew do this quick break down the Bible. I used to lead music for my youth group and I only heard about Eidola because of DGD. First song I ever heard was Hidden Worship and I fell in love. Andrew is an amazingly talented artist with a beautiful soul.

Thanks for putting these out. I’ll definitely be checking out some of your other conversations when I have some more time.

I have 2 hours of my life wasted on this. You asked the question that interests us all: why did Dave Bokner leave the band? also, you talked a lot more than he did. Do you really think people are clicking on the video because of you and are much more interested in you and your ramblings than in Dave Buckner's answers? If I had had the opportunity to talk to him I wouldn't have wasted the time like that. Your video is a complete disappointment. If you have even an ounce of self-respect (which I hope) then you don't delete this comment but give me an answer
@BREWtallySpeakingPodcast
@BREWtallySpeakingPodcast 2 ай бұрын
@@nt5811 i never delete comments, unless it’s like racist or horrible shit like that and even then KZbin usually gets it before i do. I feel like taking down comments that aren’t favorable is a bulllshit thing to do. A few things worth noting as i answer your question, this was pretty early into me doing this show and sort of the crossroads of me being so regimented with written down questions versus what i do now where i have a conversation with the person with no prompts. I’ll say letting go of that safety blanket of having everything prepared with a whole conversation I’ve had in my head, and on paper, before I’ve ever spoken a word to the guest felt weird and fake. So sometimes we tend to over talk trying to find the right words or questions. It’s something I’ve learned to not do from speaking to more foreign guests. That it’s ok to stop and collect your thoughts and then proceed. More to the point, at this time Dave hadn’t done any press really since leaving the band, was still pretty early in his sobriety. I recall feeling like he gave some longer answers, but at times he gave some quick ones and i was expecting him to go more in depth, and honestly idk if it’s due to him not wanting to talk about these things or not. I know that when we were done he said he enjoyed himself, his wife liked some of the questions i asked, and we’ve stayed in touch since. So at the end of the day as long as the person i have on didn’t walk away feeling like it was a waste of time, that’s all i really care about. Also….and i don’t mean this in any hostile way, if you think you can do better….start a podcast or a website/blog. It’s literally how i started this and the amount of people ive gotten to talk to and become friends with is fucking wild. All cause i had the same reaction to a video i watched as you did to this one. I’m sorry this one disappointed you, obviously not what i want to hear, but I’ll take the criticism/feedback and hopefully if you check out another one that’s a more enjoyable experience for you.

I have absolutely no doubt that Andrew will shine as the clean lead. If you listen to Tree City Sessions tunes with Andrew in them he is able to emulate the style and emotions of the previous 3 clean vocalists incredibly. Also, in their newest couple tracks, he's able to take his voice to a lower pitch than is typical of the bands previous discography. I am incredibly excited for this chapter of Dance Gavin Dance and I wish Andrew and the rest of the band the best no matter how they decide they all want to move forward.

Hey you remember when we had like 800 fans, when Jon did 75% of the vocals? And then how we got Tilian and split it 50-50 or 60-40 and our fanbase EXPLODED... yea we are aiming to go back to that first era!! Maybe I'm retarded, but that seems retarded, especially considering at least 75% of the fans were there exclusively for Craig and would actively skip Mess parts.

Tillian did so much for DGD, created a real stability for the band and took them to highs I never thought id see a band like DGD hit. Personally I was kinda done with his contributions before afterburner. DGD’s supposed to be this weird unpredictable thing and it felt like they’d become a bit old hat by that last album. I feel there should be a 3 album limit really. 1 warm up album, the actual album and a sequel and then if you have crazy boundary pushing ideas another, If not, move on.

Man I'll be honest, some of this was hard to listen to. I really like (or at least want to like) Andrew as a person but it's hard to hear him say stuff about "hoping we can get back to judging people's character in the moment" and not realizing how hypocritical that sounds when going on tour with ppl like Ronnie. Dude's proven his character and STILL proves it "in the moment." I get Andrew doesn't really care anymore (based on his villain comment) but it's just a bummer to hear someone that I used to really look up to say all this.
@DoYaPhilMeh
@DoYaPhilMeh 5 ай бұрын
I am sure nothing will change your mind but I am going to attempt to. Your "judging character" comment and insinuation that Andrew is letting you down by speaking this way I feel is a bit unfair, I think if you zoomed out and looked at the big picture you'd see that although Ronnie is a juvenile dick... He is still a talented musician that has a legacy making songs people somehow enjoy. The fact he is headlining these tours that other established bands like DGD are seeing as "big financial opportunities" speaks volumes. I'm sure you understand DGD in all it's forms is a unique band that doesn't really fit in a mainstream genre box, Tillian helped pioneer a marketable sound for them but they can no longer reap those benefits and they undoubtably have lost fans with his departure. Which brings us back to Ronald- Now imagine you are Ronnie, no matter what he does the guy can't exist anywhere without people spitting venom at him over his past mistakes, merely mentioning his name is enough to make people hiss like cats. We need to be honest that nobody wants to give him a chance- and at this point, nobody wants to see him succeed or do good things. They want him to act out again so they can point and say "SEE, I KNEW IT" because he fits the villain role so well and people love to doormat his name. Media companies profit off his name/controversy in a way that is just plain unfair. This is likely what Wells refers to and why he doesn't care anymore, he probably knows Ronnie personally and might not agree with everything he does but knows he is a harmless dude and they have a business relationship playing music. His "the fans see us as these cartoonish characters" was dead on, they are human beings. Surely you've known someone in your life that had a bad reputation for something that everyone knew them for but you really knew them and that they were just normal people with redeeming qualities.
@AsRiversRunDry
@AsRiversRunDry 5 ай бұрын
@@DoYaPhilMeh So I'll start off and agree that I think it is a good financial decision for the band. I cannot fault them for that. They have always been a business. That became vehemently clear to me when they kicked kurt out to bring jonny back so many years ago. That's the only point I can agree with here. You keep talking about Ronnie's "past mistakes" when he is still very much making mistakes to this day and very much owning them. He spits vitriol at bands and artists he doesn't like and uses his platform to preach dangerous rhetoric and has no remorse for any of it. So no, he's not just some misunderstood dude that Andrew must know better than the rest of us. If I had a friend like Ronnie then I would very much cut ties with him, especially if he showed no signs of changing. So in the end no, you won't change my mind.

I told people years ago that Papa Wells could easily be a front man post-Tilian. The humility is a refreshing contrast, however, and readjusting everyone's mentality to the band's vision and style will be a journey for sure. But it's true that the band was always more than just the revolving door on the microphone up front. There's more than enough talent to make up for that.
