Why add baking soda? All you are doing is adding a base to an acid, and basically stopping the acid from doing any more work. For anyone watching, skip the baking soda, it's pointless in this process.

Had this happen to my wok as well, it was put in the dishwasher and the set in the cupboard for a while ( wasn't me though), but its quite easy to remove the rust, reseasoned it and the pan is just fine. It almost feels it's more non-stick now and the seasoning build up is better.

To much bother..just get a good stainless pan and no worries
@munchkin56742 ай бұрын
There is nothing wrong with this pan. I guess you haven’t seen what some chefs pans look like. Even a good stainless steel pan has to be seasoned.

For anyone finding this currently, skip the baking soda and use kosher salt instead. Acts as excellent abrasion with the vinegar. Then I just rinsed throughly and washed with soap and rinsed final time. Don't add baking soda and neutralize your vinegar's power! Mine was extremely rusted and I was ready to season in 30 minutes. Very helpful 😊

If you didn't neutralize the acid (vinegar) with baking soda every single time, you could have removed the rust in a fraction of the time.

I'll tell you how to do it a lot faster. Get a wad of aluminum foil and a can of Coca-Cola. Pour the Coca-Cola in the disk and use a crumpled up piece of aluminum foil to scrub it. The rust will melt off. The phosphoric acid and CO2 in Coca-Cola react with aluminum and that breaks down rust.

How do your shoes not have problems at 140°F? In Arizona and Florida people are having problems with their shoes at 110°F.

Hello. The air is at 110 F, but the ground, streets or sidewalks are much hotter than that, most likely close to 140. Make a quick test... on a hot sunny day, touch the street pavement with your hand and you'll feel it's much hotter than the air. Thank you for your question!

Use the power tool. Use brush attachment to a drill and scrub. The whole restoration process takes less than 10 minutes including seasoning the pan. Done it before and works every time.

I came here to ask this exact question! Now I have another question, what if you just had a $30 gravity-fed sand blaster or glass blaster? Couldn't you be done in 1 minute with the rust part? Or would it pit the surface too much with sand?
@grepora Жыл бұрын
@@KevinVenturePhilippines I don't recommend sand blasting or wire brush. It creates too many scratches or tiny pocks in the steel. The easiest (and laziest) method is to quickly first scrub off rust flakes with a copper scouring pad. Then, for about 30 minutes, soak in a vinegar bath or cover it with vinegar soaked paper towels. The rust should wipe away. If the rust is more severe, repeat soaking. If it has light rust, you may be able to skip scrubbing and just soak it.

How is this different from a wok?
@TruOnyxfire3 ай бұрын
Wider and flatter. A wok's sides are much steeper and don't hold food up and out of the center. This is sort of a combination of a wok and griddle, different temperature zones, like a griddle with multiple burners can do, but the sides are less steep and can hold oil in the bottom-center for continued cooking while the other food can stay away from the main heat and not overcook. And since it is flatter, it has more cooking area than a wok.

This is a great video but a much easier way is available. Spray entire pan with oven cleaner and put in a plastic garbage bag overnight and the next day just rinse. It will look brand new. I use this method for any rusty, caked on grease pans, and cast iron. Thanks for your video!!!

Well, not really the correct order for cooking that stuff since you started with 2 meats that are already cooked, then added onions, which should have been first, and added the peppers too soon so they are now overcooked, and then seasoned AFTER everything was cooked?
