I met Richard O'Brian when he was making this film in Jakarta. He had arrived in Jakarta as a NZ backpacker.

One correction to the post below: the band was originally from Kingston, Ontario, which, for those who aren't familiar with Canadian geography is near the Thousand Islands and just west of the confluence of the Ottawa and St. Lawrence Rivers....it probbaly would have made more practical sense for them to begin a recording career in Ottawa then strike out west further 'up' the lake in Toronto. The Sir John A. label, which had been formed independently in 1966, would also have been looking for acts to sign.

As far I understand - my knowledge is limited - this is the final single from 'The Five D', who were originally from Ottawa (along with fellow Bytown biggies Jay Telfer [of 'A Passing Fancy'] and The Staccatos [who would shortly morph into 'The Five Man Electrical Band' around 1969]) and had recorded a few singles for the 'Sir John A.' label. In the mid-60s they had originally called themselves 'The Fifth Dimension' but by 1967 had to change their name to 'The Five D'... well... for obvious reasons. They later relocated to Toronto to broaden their career in T.O.'s then vibrant Yorkville music and recording scene. This single dates from 1968 by which time I guess they had changed their name yet again to 'The Five Shy' - as it appears on some record labels.

Easily I bought this and I had zion I. I remember some of the older g&e but was trying to remember their top tracks? But I put even their newer tracks like "teach me the way" production wise but def lyrics wise as very likely the greatest of all time. I can't think of anyone more genuine

But what are your top g&e tracks if you don't mind me asking?
