My drag grandmother Gildra has been doing this very performance since the mid-1980's. What makes hers so hilarious is that she uses Dr. McGillicuddy's for the Vitameatavegimin and is quite literally on her way to be just as drunk as Lucy when she stumbles offstage. In one of the most amazing performances I've been blessed to have been a part of, we re-created the iconic chocolate factory episode complete with a conveyor belt. True to form, she and my late drag mother Miss Stephanie Brooks came off the stage with their painted faces covered in chocolate. Over the years, we see so many incredible pieces of pop culture fall to the wayside, lost on the younger generations who simply can't sit still or keep off their phones long enough to watch anything in black-and-white or without the hyperactive editing MTV was a pioneer of. Lucy, however, is one of the few exceptions. Audiences of all ages LOVED Gildra for the performance. She had every single little gesture and facial twitch down. Though she retired a few years back, she still receives offers and requests to appear at events with this performance all the time and I'm grateful that even after she's having cocktails with the real Lucy up in Heaven and I've raised enough money to have _"It's so tasty, too!"_ etched into her headstone as an epitaph, I'll always have this episode of _I Love Lucy_ to remind me of how amazing she was.
