Thanks Marley. I can totally relate, I like my art things to be all the SAME especially if there are 60+ of them. (But this even goes for other items I own too--for example I have 50 individual socks, all exactly alike. That's just how it has to be!) I'm glad the company was responsive, apologetic, and sent a replacement sketchbook. Maybe they have different barcode/SKU numbers. I'm sad to hear about the tree, I hope to hear good news.

It helps in life to keep some things the same and to focus mental energy on other areas instead of deciding which socks to wear every day :) Good luck with the traveling art toolkit!

Can anyone recommend an Eco-friendly paper that is either 100% recycled paper or organic cotton? It seems wrong and hypocritical to not be environmentally responsible when it comes to nature journalling. Its more important to me to do right by nature then to have the primo high quality paper. Many thanks for any suggestions or recommendations!!
@MarleyPeifer7 күн бұрын
Glad you are thinking about sustainability and I should have definitely mentioned that as a criteria in this video, thanks for pointing that out. Everything we do has an impact. I try to reduce my use of paper and forest products in all other parts of my life so that I can splurge with my nature journaling. There are many ways to help the forests that can have a greater impact besides just our choices of sketchbooks. However, if you want to try more sustainably sourced paper I think there are more options today than ever. Here is one I just saw recently but have not tried yet. amzn.to/484n74h

Explenation:if you were to put an ant in a microwave, surprisingly, the ant might survive, at least for a short time. Here’s why: 1. Size: Ants are very small, and microwaves work by exciting water molecules in food to generate heat. Since ants have so little water and mass compared to something like food, they may not heat up enough to be affected. 2. Wavelengths: Microwaves typically work by emitting waves that are larger than an ant. So, the ant might be able to “dodge” the microwaves, moving between the areas where the waves are most intense. 3. Movement: If the ant keeps moving inside the microwave, it may avoid direct exposure to the most intense areas of heat, increasing its chances of surviving. However, over time, the environment would still likely harm the ant if it stayed in long enough. This is more of a theoretical observation. Thx for reading!

I love this. I take tons of photos thinking I will draw them but never do. I might combine it with another technique and make boxes to draw in so that each drawing seems finished. Thank you!

You should also check out some of the junk journal or scrapbooking techniques combined with nature journaling. That could help you transition from using photos. There is even a little sticker printer that prints little photos you can then stick in your journal.

These are so beautiful! This is an old video, you may know this by now, but I've seen some people put wax paper between their pages so that acrylic paint/glues don't stick to to each other. I've also done this: put a very very thin coat of wax over it, kindof shine it, and that keeps it from sticking as well. (Like Dorlands wax or something similar to rub onto the page.)

that is the set I have, I did not realize how expensive watercolors are. I paid a lot(for me) and was disappointed that someone told me they were still student watercolors. I like it but I don't hold it like that, so it doesn't bother me. I did not know the "water' holder clipped on the side. I always take a water dish.
@MarleyPeifer19 күн бұрын
I didn't know they were "student" watercolors when I bought them. I think the name that these things are called is a little silly to be honest. Who came up with these categories? The for profit business selling these supplies? That makes sense then ;)
@susanyoung633117 күн бұрын
I've been using this same palette occasionally for a couple of years. I, also, didn't realize that shallow cup could attach to the side! I only use it for an extra mixing tray, but placing it to the side is convenient. I actually have 2 smaller WN sets that easily fit in a pocket. I attach them with velcro to little corplast foldable boards I fashioned. Very compact with a couple less colours, and I actually like it best for my tiny travel kits.

@@MarleyPeifer I did BJJ briefly a few years ago. The school I attended focused on comp and MMA, while I had hoped for more self-defense. The majority of students were high school boys, MMA fighters, and men looking to blow off steam after working all day. I was one of a handful of women, but they were also in it for sport. I had the chance to practice self-defense drills on occasion, but I think the guys went easy on me, heh. However, during one BJJ drill, I was partnered with a man who weighed 225 lbs (100 more than me) and was BUFF from lifting at the gym. I maintained top control the entire time. I mean, I worked for it, and he was legit frustrated. With the right technique, I was able to do it. 👍 I gave up BJJ and went back to yoga. 🧘♀ Okay. From what I can see in the video, there's articulation of the entire spine. As you come up, engage the abdominal wall to protect the back, slowly rolling the sacrum upright and continuing through the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical. The arms flow up overhead and then out to the sides as the head turns to the right. The head returns to neutral, arms flow up overhead, chin gently tucks, and the arms dive in front and down. Repeat and turn head to the left. Hands along the legs while going down and up can help keep the back safe by not folding over too much, especially in a steady flow. Am I missing anything? I carry so much tension in my neck and shoulders, and it has gotten worse over the past couple of months, most likely from looking down so much while reading, writing, painting, walking (never know what's on the ground)... Wish I could just pound the tension away, lol!

Marley, Monte Amiata Natural Sienna from Jack’s palette works as a yellow for skies as long as you don’t fiddle then it turns grey. I compared it to DiVinci’s Yellow Ochre which was brighter and a clearer yellow when used with blue but not dramatic enough of a difference to replace MANS on my palette.
