I would like to take this opportunity to share my keyboard invention, my _Musicolor Matirx_ which is a honey-comb "period-table" shaped keyboard, but where I use only my color-shape associaitons for labeling the keys. I have tried to get a hold of three different companies over the years who were developing the first of this "Terpstra Keyboard" design, but no one listened to be about how the labeling of keys could be improved to make more visual sense. // To this day, I have simply resorted to printing my own Muscilor Matirx (and individual Micro Matrix charts) and reading from them as I play a melody from my head. Click on the rainbow rabbit, or look me up here at: _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole_

In Japan the piano industry is in decline. In China the Pearl River Piano company makes 1 million pianos a year. The moral of this is cheap wins over quality? What is your opinion.

I think the Japanese went miles ahead of the Germans and Italians when it comes to precision Machine tools, something which those countries can only imagine competing now. USA and others in the West don't even get closer, and Taiwan and Korea blindly imitate Japan 🗾 now

Hi all, According to DIN and IS standards, springs made from wire or rod with a diameter above 16 mm should be hot coiled due to specific reasons. We have consulted with several manufacturers who claim they can cold coil springs using wire or rod up to 30 mm in diameter. Could you please advise if springs made from wire with a diameter ranging from 16 mm to 30 mm using the cold coiling process would be as effective as those made using the hot coiling process? I look forward to your valuable suggestions. Best regards, Johny

I work for a German spring machine manufacturer we can cold roll to 30mm on our machines and there is no loss in durability, the process is just safer and faster. We use a series of large servo motors to feed the material into dual coiling rollers so there's no need to heat the material like in traditional lathe coiling.

Possibly in 30 years these will be in common use. There is only one answer to our physical needs when we have been hurt. Figure it out for yourself, do whatever you can, seek aquatic therapy even if it is in your own home...get an underwater treadmill, inexpensive pool with heater....some are sold on Amazon....and try as hard as you can to implement consistency even if you are elderly. Every person has abilities untapped.

Greetings, classical pianist. The Yamaha U1 is so popular for several reasons and it will be my next upgraded piano(currently own a Clavinova 745). It is popular because Yamaha is one of the most trusted brands and a billion dollar industry, they even bought the rights to Steinway and Bosendorfer, just to improve their pianos. #2 the price is right, you can get a Yamaha U 1 for about $7,000 which is affordable for most of us. The U1 is an upright piano but I would say it has the same power as an baby grand. Question for the engineers is there a way they can put a repetition mechanism in the U1 so it won't have this problem or that is just the problem with a standing upright? You could get a grand but a 6ft Entry Level Yamaha C series will cost you $15,000 US.

Oh my god... I am a piano technician and my head is about to explode of all the stupidity displayed in this video! 1. There is ALREADY a jack return spring under the jack toe, so no need for that "fantastic" invention. If the intention is to limit the movement of the jack, that can be done by a simple regulation process, or simply adjusting the jack stop rail. The presentation about the half depressed key not playing again has nothing to do with the speed of the returning jack, the jack was simply set up to trip out from the hammer butt too soon. 2. There is ALREADY a hammer return spring in upright piano actions as well, so there is no need for an extra one. I am not even sure that it is a good thing for the hammer to return to the hammer rail with inreased velocity because that will cause bouncing hammers. 3. The differences between the 2 piano's sound has nothing to do with the difference in their piano actions, rather in the condition of their hammer felt, strings, etc, and the fact that those are two different pianos with different timbre.
