a new style? Streets of Willow is about keeping momentum and getting good exits. Gearing and power delivery out of low speed turns like coming onto the straight from skid pad where grip is terrible and there's zero camber, mean we need to stay in 3rd gear there. In 2nd, the car would struggle for grip for sure and we'd be slower managing wheel spin + another shift into 3rd up the straight. Car has done a 1:17 there now though... Should be in the 14/15s this coming season.

How do you tune it and achieve less hp than stock?

This is a lot more than stock… stock is rated at the motor. This is at the wheels… unless you’re asking if you can de-tune for less hp for class regulations in motorsport, then yes, I can connect you with the right person for that.

Do you prefer the DS3.12 over DS1.11 pads?

I've only driven with these 3.12's. They're ok... nothing I'm in love with but going to use them till they're dead.

@@Bernooo_ try 1.11 next or G-Loc pads. Better pedal feel. I don’t have any data for braking performance but 1.11 is newer than 3.12.

Drove this E36 at Chuckwalla (CW and CCW on March 1 with SDC) due to my F87 being under the knife at the moment. This E36 has phenomenal balance front to rear, predictable and progressive rotation, stable under braking. Great build. I highly recommend it. This car spoiled me for a day with the CAE shifter and the MCS coilovers. I need some proper MCS dampers now. The chassis transparency and control was superb. Thank you, Alex, for prepping this great build! Charles, thank you as always for a great event. Lastly, thanks to Thomas for sharing your car with us fellow drivers! I hope to see more arrive-and-drive builds in the SDC stable!

Very nice driving. Awesome lap. What is your feedback on the YCFM carbon driveshaft you are using. is it worth it as an upgrade? Any drawbacks? I am considering its purchase for my 2009 E92 M3 dct.

No drawbacks of the driveshaft. So far so good! Dropped some weight and that's really all I cared about.

GoPro Hero 11 Black w/ Media Mod case, and a sticky mount with 2 arms to make an L bracket basically, right on the side of my helmet. Works great, looks killer and sound is amazing with the media mod case.

Did you have to turn down the power levels for the track? I'm wondering why you went for bigger turbos in a track car? Did you want more power and felt the chassis could take more power? Thanks a ton for any answer. My 1M is undergoing a full Team Schirmer suspension, BBK, etc and I'm deciding on power levels for track use. @@Bernooo_

@@mixxeerr Why Schirmer? I can set your 1M up with our spec, running MCS dampers and the best of everything. Stock N54 turbos are sadly not up to the task of heavy track time, and when you ask more of them for additional power, they just blow hot air. With that being said, factory or close-to factory power levels are great for the 1M and you can have lots of fun without upgrading the turbos. I just wanted more power, more efficiency, less heat, less boost, etc... I was limited to about 400whp with stock turbos, but with an upgraded single conversion, we were at 530whp... that's substantial. Car handled it great.

I applied for TA but seemed like I was too late to make the cut. Ran HPDE instead -- the goal was 100% to have a good time, and I achieved the shit out of that, but I'm a TA driver, and part of the fun on track is setting the quickest possible lap. Assumed Advanced group would be... more advanced with a quicker group of cars, but it was pretty packed. Had a blast running full sessions for a change, which is why my best lap is session 2, lap 10, with precipitation starting. Loved every second of it and hopefully I'll be able to run TA next year, though the NA E92 likely won't be competitive haha.

I'm no expert either... but I don't totally agree with you. Definitely need more seat time at this track, but good weather and no traffic and I think this line would net a mid 34-sec lap for sure, which would be plenty quick for an NA E92 on street tires. We'll see next time!

Check this clip out to see the difference. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKKbp4V5Z9yfd7c The slower rider isn't swinging out as wide and is starting his turn earlier than the BSB rider who ends up carrying more speed through the turn and gets on the power earlier. You can see similarities to this in your video between your turn 11 at the beginning of the video and your turn 11 at the end. Your first trip through 11 you turned in too early and had a slower speed through the apex. The second time through turn 11 you turned in later, carried more cornering speed, and made it to the start/finish line faster despite it being wet.
