Yeah got one out of the trash. Fixed it the connections are weak on these things. The batteries had leaked. Such a simple fix. Happy with my free bin that wasn't in too bad a condition overall.

I think you and I would get along really well. I feel like I made a new friend. Thank you SO much for repairing one you found in the trash. You're doing God's work. Glad you did it. 👍🤘🪛

I have two of these, both powered with identical (rechargable) batteries. They both work but on one of them the batteries go flat after a week or so. The other goes for 6 months or more. Any ideas?

That cash register voice sounds like a woman.
@user-soqjdw6 ай бұрын
When you start the cash register, it would play a brief xylophone tune after it says "welcome." However, there is also a version where the opening tune is accompanied by a piano instead, like this one.
@user-soqjdw6 ай бұрын
Also, this cash register has different beeping sounds compared to other copies of it.

There is also a switch for the sensor on and off on the other side opposite where you put the batteries in also.

How did you chip the card to access the credit card and coupon ? I just got one with out the cards but I have other play cards maybe I can chip those and they can work as well 🤔
@PeterDana3139 ай бұрын
If you look in the slot where you slide the card, there are two switches. One is for coupon and the other is for credit card. I took a paper index card and pushed it down into the slot to find out where the marks from the switches would need to be. The little button switches in the slot left tiny little indentations on the index card. I held the index card against the plastic card and marked where I needed to make the notch. Then I carefully used a small pocket knife to carve a groove that would be effective for the credit card function. Good luck!

Mine automatically opens, but just stays open. I have to give it a little push with my hand to close the lid again. Any thoughts?

I would clean the area where the infrared sensor is located. Remove the screws that hold in the infrared sensor plate and see if there's dirt that needs to be cleaned out if there. Good luck!

@@PeterDana313 Thanks for the speedy reply. I tried what you suggested, but it doesn't close. It opens automatically just fine, but then just sits there open and makes a short humming noise when you get in range again to close it, the blue lights flash, but the lid just stays up. Even when you press on the little icon in the right front that would normally close the lid, no luck. I thought about just using it as is, but after a few weeks of walking by a stinky open trash can and having to actually touch it to close it, that's gotten tiresome, so I think I will just have to spring for a new (and much more expensive these days!) motion-activated can. Thanks anyway!
@nettineptune81257 ай бұрын
Mine does exactly the same, opens fine but then I can see the blue lights count down to the close position but fails to close. Did you manage to find a solution at all? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I didn't. It's really aggravating, because there's probably just some little component that could possibly be replaced, if only one knew what it was. Such a waste to throw away the whole can. I'm just using mine as is for the time being. It's not a big deal for me to leave it open because it's around the corner from the kitchen counter so you don't see it unless you're leaving the kitchen. It's actually more convenient to have it open, because I can just toss things into it from the side, rather than having to walk around to the front to activate the motion sensor (when it was working). That's probably not an optimal situation if you have it in a place where people will be walking by it a lot (yucky). I'm keeping my eye out for a deal on another one, but even on sale, all of them are pretty expensive these days. I don't know why what is essentially a metal and plastic box with some minor electronics on top has to cost that much. @@nettineptune8125

Me too! Glad I’m not the only one who knows about or had this model as a kid, I remember the voice being a bit crustier and distorted, possibly even higher pitched? But it sounds relatively close to this video. Do you have any ideas as to where I could find videos of it, or are you lost too, it seems like a really obscure old variant. I can check the date it came out because we threw out the box, but I was wondering if you would have any clues. I remember it having all of the features of this variant, plus a different turquoise, pink and yellow color scheme. I still own the variant I’m referring to, but I can’t access or record footage of it until about a week from now, let me know if you’re interested!

@@simplymynz8379 Great question, I'm so glad you asked. Originally this ash register came with a coupon card and a credit card. Each card has a notch on the edge. We lost the credit card so I modified the coupon card with a notch so that it would trigger the credit card sound purchase function.
