Would have been more effective if the video camera had zoomed in on the actual work. I understand that brake sensor needed to be unclipped but how exactly? Etc.

Thanks for the video. This is one of the better explanations on how to remove the door panel. Something I’ve never seen addressed in a door video is handle adjustment. The handle’s pivot assembly is attached to the door panel with screws and the holes are slotted for adjustment. It’s important to make sure that a small pin on the back of the door handle lands on top of the microswitch.

In the masters class do they just look into the engine bay or do they also look under the car at the engine's under-side?
@fitzsik60
@fitzsik60 Жыл бұрын
At the Regional PCA Club level the underside of the car is not judged. In the National PCA Full Concours Class the full underside of the car including the suspension is judged

Great Video! Oh Dear the carpets under the floor mats are looked at - Argg my drivers carpet is terrible any advice for light brown carpet cleanup?
@fitzsik60
@fitzsik60 Жыл бұрын
I also have a car with light tan floor mats. My approach would be to first vacuum and then use either a foaming or spray carpet cleaner alternatively an all purpose cleaner. Try to not use too much product. Agitate with a medium stiffness bristle brush and use a cloth preferably a microfiber, to then dry the carpet

Thanks for the video, that's a very informative one, but I should mention that the door clip are very tricky to snap back on the door, in order to do it right you have to use needle nose plier to return them to a top up position, then align them up with the holes, otherwise they either brake off or just won't be back in the hole.

Hi, I really hvg trouble to get back the clips lock in back to their respective holes. U mean all the clips need to use nose plier to align them properly to the holes before u can push/bang it bank to the door. The easier one to fix are the ones near the hinge side but the bottoms & nearer to the door handle are really difficult.

Not enough detail. You took the strut off. Then we see you put it back on. But no detail of what you did.and the camera set in one position. Some can't see what your doing.

Hi Fitz I’m having the same issue, window goes down but doesn’t go back up. Can you tell me if you changed the window switch also or did just swapping the inside door lever solve ur issue? And was the auto-up function affected?
@fitzsik60
@fitzsik60 Жыл бұрын
the issue I had was a hardware failure of the door handle pivot lever. The issue you are describing does seem more with a microswitch sensor

Where did the black ring and white plastic piece come from? Were they existing pieces that fell down, causing the boot to fall down?

Another good video. A few things on the strut job. 1) It's much easier with the engine out ;) 2) The Porsche brand struts will last you much longer than the knockoff ones. 3) I've struggled with replacing the struts a few times and then I asked my son to do it. Now I pay the small neighborhood kids $20 to reach in and pull those hood strut clips and they do it in under 5 minutes and I don't have to remove parts. Nice and clean engine bay!

You mean I have to pull the hub carrier off the splined axel ? Why ? So the strut will clear the fender during removal ?
@fitzsik60

Hey Kevin, thanks for sharing, do you recon you could compress the spring, remove the shock mount and then slide the boot and bump stop in position then reassemble or is there too much pressure from the strut? Any thoughts?... cheers... Chris

How did you get it off in the first place at that torque ?
@fitzsik60

I used a pipe over my breaker bar to increase the length. Then knowing my weight I divide 340 by my weight to get the necessary length where I would need to position my feet on the length of pipe.

Very informative. Thanks. How do you rinse off the salt from under the car? That’s what I struggle with every winter. I end up having to take it to a self serve car wash but it’s a pain because there’s always a lot of people there and I have to wait a long time to get a bay. Doing it at my home is not easy either as I don’t want to freeze outside my garage.
