Well it's true were I live in new Hampshire when I throw my cans in the recycling bin well my cans and end up in this place

Does the Concord new Hampshire recycling end up in that place

A good chunk of the "recycling" I see does go to the landfill, because we have shitty customers that "recycle" and insane amount of non-recyclable material. Although I don't have exact numbers, I'd expect 15-20% of our incoming material being sent out as trash, and if I tell management of a seriously bad load/part of a load, identifiable to a specific customer, I get told it's "too late" to do anything about it. Last year we were told out Casella division was top division for the level of trash recovered from the recycling. Not something to be proud of.

This did not explain at all how the plastics are sorted. Are plastics burned? They are in some places. In our area #1,3,5 are accepted but I always notice idiot neighbors throwing in 2,4,6. I am curious what happens with that. I doubt you have the man power to manually sort every piece individually

Excellent video. Eye opening to discover what people will toss into their bins. I'm so sorry for the danger your employees face as a result of that.

It's amazing how WIN Waste Saugus ash dump doesn't have any of this modern technology. They are literally killing by having no lining! and they are located in the middle of a supposedly protected area. They are a disgrace.
@RosaRosario-rv1he2 жыл бұрын
I agree! They don't cover the ash either and it blows everywhere, getting on everything. That ash is filled with lead, cadmium and other heavy metals. They are killing our families with that poison.

Is it true that small items (smaller than 2"x 2") like soda bottle caps or Rx bottle caps, will cause problems in the machines?
@lianea.93112 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure small items don't cause a problem with the machines, it's just that they will fall through and not be recycled at all. Some places suggest screwing the caps back on the bottle (once they are clean and dry) so that they will not fall through. I don't remember if Casella is one of those places.

Ok...and how do you seperate the different glad colours from each other? That's really stupid. In Germany we easily place some Glas containers brown, green and white next to the Street. Done. For plastic bottles and drink bins we have a pay back system, so it is not necessary to sort them out inside the facilities.

I was wondering about if it was possible to get a permit to be able to take electronics out of your dumpsters? Such as monitors, tv's and microwaves. And I mean garbage dumpsters not zero sort.
@cwcspyninja22493 жыл бұрын
Well zero sort is casella and casella collects Trash and recycling from a few towns and city’s not far into NY they collect a lot so places garbage in Massachussets And NH and Maine
@jenb4799 Жыл бұрын
not sure what you mean by a permit, but if you're looking to keep dead electronic items out of the trash, many municipalities have e-waste collection days and other groups host them as well. There may be a place near you.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to repair some of those houses too ? Fix the foundations and anything that could make it condemned then sell it cheap. If it can’t be fixed then knock it down. Try to get the homeless off the streets and into homes. We need redevelopment without displacement. I would say focus on why people live here and what they enjoy about Rutland.

Well great video but there's some recycling places that will just throw the stuff in the trash I've seen it in the Merced County dump. Something else people should know wash out the containers if it's a bleach container or so container or should I least three times at least if not more juice milk a couple times soda same thing any food items should be cleaned first if it has food it's going to be rejected nobody wants nasty dirty food in the recycling

Hello, I am with National Garbage Man Day. ( www.garbagemanday.org ) We are just reaching out to the organizations that showed great support last year during the week of June 17th. We are looking for companies that are going to support their employees in a BIG way during this celebration! Please keep us in the loop and send us pictures or any feedback so we can publish them throughout the network. Thank you!
