This is a terrific arrangement! I’ve always loved this anthem. It’s very powerful. When I first read through it with my very fine church choir, I thought it was dreadful, but it grew on me during the first rehearsal, and when we performed it, I was brought to tears(as were many in the choir) during that final phrase, modulated to a wonderful major key, and so humble and joyful…”here am I…send me.” Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

One of the most important needs for a conductor besides talent is caring. As a true Maestro and musician Justin is one who excels in all three. Justin and I worked together at Saint James in Scarsdale and shared a two family house, when Justin played piano I would turn down the sound on tv so I could listen through the walls. When you listen on You Tube lean back and close your eyes and you will be there.

Tenors sound terrific. Bass bone is giving it a nice try but he’s much too heavy and weighty in his playing for this style of piece. His part is sticking out too much. It should be supportive but not detracting from the upper harmonies. But overall, a decent performance. Tenors are all on the same page.
