This is only a prof of concept at the moment and has not been tried on my layout yet. As the better solution maybe LCC for me.

There has been a library update to version 0.1.4 today and the AVR2ServoINO you will need to swop the interrupt pin on the Arduino from Pin 3 to Pin 2. In the next release we hope to move to 1 version of the sketch once we complete more testing.

Since making this video I have found by using the latest test release 5.9.5 make it even better with the current software being tested.

I have just found out why the 1st I/O was set as an output. The original sketch was setup to be tested without a CAN Bus interface using a USB lead to communicate with JMRI.

The Pickit 3 can program many different chips, however the latest version of Mplab software does not support it anymore. You will need to use an older version.

Yes you would change the Usec variables to what you want, I can not remember at the moment what the maximin values can be. You would need to experiment with them.

Hello! I am in a University project in which I must use that pic to send the signal to a grapher that I have on my pc. the problem I have is that it does not have RX and TX which are responsible for the communication of the rs232 protocol. After some research I have read that in ATMEGA memory bits can be used to fulfill this function, however I have not been able to implement it in the pic, if you know where I can read about it or some advice I would appreciate it :)

Hi I have never tried to use the PIC676 chip for that type of communication. This chip is a chip that has been superseded and Microchip recommend a later chip will offer a lot more ways of working with it. I did change over to the new chip but not had time to do much with it for a while. I would suggest asking on the Microchip forum as they are very helpful.

This example we are only driving 4 outputs either hi or low. I maybe possible if the university has stated to use this particular chip.

Your approach to modelling is an inspiration to me as I tinker with 3D printing and using JMRI/CBUS with arduino I say use the tech you want for your projects, don’t worry about what others think you should be doing with your time.

Thanks Giles, you are correct I may well go back to CBUS® in the future. The original plan was to help beginners who had found it difficult to getting started. when using the FCU with the Arduino side of things.

It looks like my setup needs some adjustment either in the code or a wiring issue. It is not the MERG CANUSB4 at fault. So hopefully I will be able to get this working very soon.

incredible stuff and what an eye full i am currently working on something as well I also noticed you are far,ilar with pic mcus's I am currently working with pic16f723a to start and stop the trains via ir sensors ie adc interrupt. which i have already accomplished I am trying for the first time to configure the i2c in master mode and interface it with an oled display I know you are happily married however you seem like my long lost friend I wish i had a friend to help me figure out certain things My first assumptions with the i2c configuration did not work and i am trying to work it out where Sincerely your neighbour Gateshead Ejike

Yes you are correct it is all repairable, however we need to know is there a bug in the firmware that they did not know about. being a new product release they need to investigate further. I am still waiting on a replacement screen as they forgot to send that part out when sending replacement parts.

Hi Governor I am pleased to have you I am your neighbour from NewCastle I am trying to get my head around certain issues about pic mcu having migrated from arduino I will be blessed to have your support I am currently working on calculating delays with internal oscillators and to progress to timer0 etc I am working with pic 16f723a i was surprised to see you choose internal oscillator in the config bits and also declare xtal freq before the main void i thought we only declare xtal-frequency when using external oscillators however it is then impossible to use the _delay_ms function i trying to use the 16f723a with its internal osiclator to setup different time delays such as for a trafic light I will very much appreciate your assistance Sincerely Ejike

I do not use external crystals as I see little point for the simple things I am trying to do with these chips. I am not a wear of the details for the chip you are using so I can not comment on what methods can be employed with that chip. Using the Timer 0 or 1 gives us more flexibility, however this requires more learning to get the most out of it.

The series was to help people in getting started with using CAN to transfer data for more complexed use. I currently have plans to do more with this technique in the future.
