I love 1911s. But: A. I don’t use them as carry guns B. I practice how to defeat the safety C. Because I don’t use it all the time I don’t have to clean it all the time. Matter of fact I don’t think I’ve cleaned mine all that much and it still runs fine. Don’t listen to hacks.

I don't understand the distaste for a grip safety. Have owned a pistol for less than five years, and I CC (with one in the chamber) an XDS 9mm. It has a grip safety. I wouldn't carry (or even own) without one (personal choice, of course). The safety provides one extra layer of safety. Any "reasonable" grip will activate it. And for those with dexterity issues who may even have trouble activating a grip safety....would that not suggest (unfortunately) they may not be the best candidate to own/fire a pistol.

I have two 1911's all function perfectly and each of them has extended mags, love the feel love the caliber and love the 1911, all in all I wouldn't trade it for anything else

They have yet to install a rail system for light purposes , no thumb safety options , no fde options , s&w can be at the top of the game if they would stop playing around. Instead of these fufu toys. They need to make a 3.6 or a 3.1 inch barrel comped , new serrations , thumb safey options , MOS , tritium sights , with 2.0 m&p grip module (not shield grip) M&P w that aggressive texture , and a RAIL SYSTEM for my stream light, FDE options, promise you they would tear up the game w the best edc in the making but no they choose to play games smh

Learned my 1911 back in 1980 during army officers training. Have owned about 10 1911s since then, everything from Colt to Springfield to AMT to Sig to Les Baer and Ed Brown. Carried one on my hip while working in a gun shop in Pasadena during the Rodney King Riots in 1992. Kept one behind my pillow, chambered, cocked and locked, during my 8 years living in San Gabriel with my widowed Dad. Lots of home invasion robberies and kick in robberies during that time. Never felt undergunned during those years.

Was super excited for this gun when it released. I'm a daily user of the normal Shield Plus. But this unfortunately will not be making its way home to me because it doesn't have an option for a manual safety. All three of my carry guns have manual safeties.

I have that exact Springfield Garrison in 45 acp government model. Sure, it's heavy, but I like a handgun that has a little heft to it. I think it's a beautiful work of art.

I love everything about 1911s except that atrocious grip safety. Its pretty counter intuitive if you think about the frame mounted safety and single action housing. 92s are so much more user friendly as far as steel hotrods go

This is a great gun and cost effective. I have a buddy that has a FN 509 and he shot my G3 Tac and said he really couldn't feel the difference! No need to go broke owning a good reliable gun!
