Was told you could use a lithium battery by O'Reilly's
@DandyDoesIt23 күн бұрын
Technically you could use any battery that puts out the proper voltage. The question would be reliability. This particular vehicle calls for an AGM battery. I personally would hesitate to gamble by experimenting.

What is the actual maximum length of that ladder? 17' is the reach. Length is not mentioned on their site. The Gorilla ladder is 14' 10", while the reach is 18' 1" I like how they use REACH instead of true ladder length. Also, the current center locking mechanism on Franklin is different from yours. I don't like it. I like the outer rungs on the Franklin better than Gorilla. Gorilla copies Werner.

Not sure. I just know 17' as labeled

I try to trim as much fat as I can, this unfortunately was a bit involved. A battery swap shouldn't be but apparently car makers can't help themselves these days.

I wish they had one OUT of its packaging in the store. I don't like buying sight unseen. Went with Gorilla from Home Depot because I could try out the ladder in the store.

is a $3k transmission worth junking the car? sure, if you don't mind buying a used car for $20k or a new car for $50k. people seem to think a $3000 bill is worth trading in for a $500 a month car payment for 6 years. how much is $500 a month? that's $6000 a year, 2 transmissions. if you're burning up that much in repairs, then sure, junk it.

My fridge also had a self destruct button called "econ". It caused moisture to build up around the seals, and water to drip from them onto my wood floor. My generator had a "quiet mode" setting which caused it to not get up to temperature high enough to boil off any condensation, causing the oil to not lubricate properly. It helps to be curious as to how these things ... uhh.. "work". Spoiler alert: They usually don't, or have severe tradeoffs.

Econ controls engine timing and shift timing there is no skipping gears here. What you are talking about is the car entering a lower range of second gear then it would with econ off leaving you in a lower power band as the timing is retarted as well and is engine stutter under load. This info is incorrect coming from some one that has no proof of back round. Look it up guys don't take it from some guy on the internet claiming he got the info off some forums but gives you no links or proof.

I'm claiming nothing more than my personal experience and what I have found as a sizable consensus as to the cause. When it's on, I have problems and have with every one of these I've owned. When it's off, the problems go away. I don't need to be ASE certified to tell people that or to relay the result of my research.

honestly I thought the engine would go first because its being lugged down by shifting to high like that but then again this is stellantis we are talking about so I am not surprised. I know back when they were chrysler they were always dead last in the big 3. I know we can make good dependable, stylish cars again.

Used to be called Overdrive gear in the late 80s early 90s. Basically you'd put the transmission into OD, and the last gear would be held at higher RPM before finally downshifting. Now the 5, 6 and 10 speeds do the same thing by refusing to downshift until the pedal is pushed par enough and the RPMs are raised high enough. Workaround is to just drive with the gear in 4.

@Iowa5992 ай бұрын
There is something more expensive than replacing the transmission, replacing the whole Caravan...but you did that 3 times! I don't think the torque converter is the problem, but it does cause the problem, sorta. The problem is caused by bad oil (atf), and the torque converter is causing the fluid to be worked harder when the lockup clutch isn't engaged. The clutch isn't engaged at low RPM, & more time is spent there when it is in too tall of gear. The factory recommendation for fluid changes is only frequently enough to guarantee the transmission survives to the end of the warranty. If you want it to last longer than that, start opening the hood yourself, and perform maintenance as it is needed.

Hi Neil, what membrane do you use for under the wood, I live in south africa and I'm looking to convert my garage into a living space and thought the easiest would be to build a stud wall, since it could be removed in the future easier than bricks and mortar.

I can't really tell the econ button does anything. My guess is the engineers proposed and pushed for the feature so they could give the customer a shift programing that saved fuel and extended the life of the trans (That's REAL econ). The average new family car buyer (largely women) want long sippy blended shifts (where the occupants feel nothing through the shift). For longest trans life you should have relatively hard shifts as its the slip that kills transmissions - and especially the torque converter in the T&C! . I suspect that the intended function of the button was dropped when a few test drivers (marketing dept.) worried that people would accidently get the button pushed and then not like the feel so it got killed - well almost. It seems to some of the eco crazies the faster a petrol car goes to scrap the better, hence the meaning of "Eco" mode.

I know it’s a totally foreign concept, but why don’t you just buy a vehicle with a manual transmission and then you have full control of your gear selection.

you have manual switch in manual transmissions. get into 4-6th gear at speed then jump to Reverse. guaranteed to work on the first few tries.

Oddly enough on a Honda cvt that I drive once. The eco button cause the low gear to stay longer (hi rev) when you start moving from traffic stop. The only way to stop that is to either move slowly at the beginning (light on the gas pedal) or turn it off when you start moving (then turn it back). I'm not an automotive engineers, but if someone could explain why the eco mode does that, that would be a great help considering how is it possible that a high rev can reduce the fuel consumption.
@gregorymalchuk2723 ай бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if that eco mode made it try to lock the torque converter clutch in lower gears. Because that's what torque converter clutch shudder sounds like.

Only car I've driven firsthand with an ECON button was a Honda Fit with a CVT. It made throttle response slower and got into a higher ratio to keep the revs down - not the best thing for a GDI engine you don't want to carbonize but helpful in winter driving where you don't want to break traction by applying too much torque at once. I ended up buying a Fit with a 6-speed manual, no ECON button and no carbon problems at 50k miles due to regular "Italian tuneups".
