Honestly, I was a little sad when I heard the author stated that he didn't plan to make King get "stronger". But honestly, I'm fine the way he is, and him getting his own "wins" in the king way.

i love how he is basically the opposite of saitama, a guy who does nothing but is praised, vs a guy who does everything and gets nothing for it

King is great as a means of humanizing characters like Saitama, adding an extra layer to him which really helps the story in the long run. On top of that, even though he knows fully well that he's a fraud and that he has no special powers, he still runs headlong into danger with the other heroes since there are people who look up to him out there. He's a coward, there's no doubt about that, but his kindness and his great heart let him do things that most normal people probably wouldn't even think of doing, like when he stood against the Cadre's or shielded Fubuki and Tatsumaki from Garou's attacks, even though he could have died then and there.

I miss it when it was fully about Saitama.

Also to awnswer your question to why genos and ZM get torn up easily is because of ignorance (my own opinion) both can take lethal dmg without any long-term effects which causes them to just take DMG without blocking at all, my theory is that on PS's attack the other heroes instinctively blocked it as much as possible while zombie man whose used to just eating what's dished out towards him probably didn't expect it to hit that hard same thing with genos with BS but it's not entirely ignorance on his part genos is just reckless af his main plan of attack is usually to just well...attack it head on and think later which ends him with broken limbs

Zombie man is Just the definition of badass you can beat him 1000 times over but all he needs is to win once, the fsct he feels all of it as well makes me like him more, he just tanks the pain for the great or good like damn one and Murata really cooked with him

King does have a power though. "Deus Ex Machina" luck. things just fall into place for him in his role as a "hero" even though he may not be too keen on it.

King falls into the same category as Muneum Rider of not being all that strong but having SOOO much Plot relevance, it really shows how good emotional strength is a feat in and of itself

That's actually interesting point of view. I never came back to one punch man after i learned all this storytelling shenanigans but it's true that Saitama has basically no way to grow so he can not be a main character. Or rather he is the MAIN character but not a main character. I tbh haven't read one punch man only watched anime but i now genuinely interested who can you call the real main character. Cool video. I don't see King ever making a deal with God. I think God would get fooled like everyone else in OPM and go overboard in their promise of power for King, maybe promising them a position or title, and the idea of responsibility would make King reject the deal. Then blast might show up, see he's unaffected and try to rope King into collecting the Cubes with him.

I think that Mumen Rider is also a great character that represents heroism in the one punch man universe. Although he knows he quite literally is just a normal guy with a bike and his bike gear, he will fight to help people in any way he can. I think that if anyone deserves to have the power of Saitama it's him.

There's a single panel that makes King's entire character. When Garou annihilates all the other heroes in an attempt to goad Saitama into fighting him with everything he's got, you see King's body over Tatsukbaki and Fubuki. He threw himself on top of those two girls in an attempt to shield them from harm, using his own body to do so. King may be a coward, he may be powerless and merely incredibly lucky, but he is still a hero by any stretch of the definition at the end of the day.

I want to see Saitama character development

One thing no one ever talks about is the will based power system that encompasses the one punch man universe. A power system where power is gained from wanting something enough explains almost every power and monster that shows up INCLUDING King. An example of this power system is that piccolo monster being a manifestation of natures hatred towards humanity or the giant who wanted to be strong and his brother who wanted to be a great scientist. It is the scientists will to create something amazing that helped the brothers will to be all muscle. All these characters are just overshadowed by Saitamas will to be the strongest considering he broke his limits. It is Kings fear that makes him invulnerable and it’s a power that first manifested the first time King was actually attacked by a monster, the monster came and attacked actually hurting King and his fear of being hurt and his will to avoid pain manifested his power in that instant, which was immediately followed by King being saved by Saitama. From that point on King has never really been injured again as his power is at work all the time, literally bending the narrative itself to keep himself safe. But no one ever talks about this

King is actually the strongest when you realize that VR thing where Garou and Suiryu broked because of their combat capabilities translated to their actual real life skill but King manage to easily and effortlessly dispatch Garou and with only a control pad would that make him in a handicap state and Saitama never beaten King in the games lest he even lectured Saitama of being lonely for being so strong

You know what I'd like to see if King encounters god? King may be a normal guy, but that makes him incredibly grounded. He's not very aloof or prideful, he doesn't complicate things for himself, he finds himself in tough situations and his first thought is "how do I get out?". So, you know how god wants his victims to touch him? usually by showing them a vision of someone and what not? I genuinely believe, powers or not, King would see right through that shit. All he'd see was this freaky looking monster claiming he's a friend, asking him to touch him and he'd freak out and run! It would be so funny

King is ACTUALLY Strong though, 1) he was the last standing vs Evolved Garous radiation and pulled the other S class heros to saftey, 2) he manipulates reality to his benefit and you could argue Saitama is his Stand
