Maybe I am missing something, maybe something is missing. Whatever happened to pursuing the agents of Robodebt, surely a case of enormous suffering to many impotent , vulnerable people. Otherwise, gratitude for what the Centre does.

Thank you your comments and the work you have achieved this year. If I may there is one area of our law that needs investigation and that is Bankruptcy Law. Corruption and Fraud are exploited that allows major tax evasion. The Banking Royal Commission proved that. There are many examples of that through Senate and Parliamentary hearings on the record. My case which I I tend to present to you is Fraud on all counts. Put simply if not addressed Australia will remain very high risk for innovation and productivity. Have a great holiday season. I agree 👍 with your ethics and factual information provided without fear or favour. I recently returned to Australia for surgery due to a collapsed hip replacement, due to my age and having been O\seas for 9yrs I'm facing a system that I was not made aware of, whilst away I contacted the medical and government authorities for information on the correct procedure for my situation. At no stage was I informed of the criteria I've faced upon returning. Compared with what I was told by the Embassy, the medical services, financial services industry,😂 the I've been completely duped, and dumped by 3 medical professional centres and blatantly lied to by several social workers, to end up in Level 3 care accommodation with 40+ other men and women. 40% parolees 40% chronic psyche patients and 10% homeless, I've suffered malnutrition, incorrect medication ending in a collapse and ambulance to emergency at RBWH , after a week in hospital I was returned to the accommodation to find my room robbed (even stole my dirty laundry) and ransacked. I fully understand the Healthcare industry is under strain but I was not told of the severity I was to expect. This may or may not be suitable for this site, even so, unless it's falling on deaf ears something will come if it.

If these people are to be considered ‘trusted’ experts by the public .. and they do (at least) represent a considerable collection of legal talent and experience, then alas the NACC has got off to a very concerning start… Calling for his resignation is an equivalently dramatic step . I personally would prefer caution before such a dramatic action. Public hearings are fodder for toxic media which whip up undue dissent. The buck stops with Dreyfus - it was a “too smart by half” move by the AG .. who would have thought that one of the first major public policy trust issues to come to the NACC (Robo) fails the public trust test!

You could almost think this commission has worked exactly as designed, no one held to account for anything. Wasn't one of the Deputy commissioners, Duttons bestie, a fries cook at Maccas with no legal experience? Maybe we do not have good governance because you might need good politicians to form a good government For me if it looks like shit, smell like shit, there's a good chance it is shit Think about what the NACC has done in it's first year, a lot of meetings, a lot of money, not a lot of results Setup to fail, a successful failure

Breretons actions are confusing. Why risk destroying one’s reputation? How could you be so comfortable acting in such a way? As Australians have we been so asleep at the wheel that our public servants feel they can do whatever they want? Are they emboldened by our awful MSM? Im naive and genuinely baffled but I’m intent on absorbing all the content I can find on the matter. I appreciate this post, thank you.

"Jesuitically vague" is a great phrase, I'm going to use that. And Margaret White's point about the NACC's reasoning, I reckon, is dead on. "Yea, it was bad for the people who were effed over, but, you know, we can't go back in time and fix it, so, yea, you know, moving on....". "Not like Caesar's wife"....another phrase I want to use.
@glendavis3959Ай бұрын
Extending patience to the NACC is exceptionally unrewarding. What we have learned is that the NACC is toothless by design and the selection of a jurist for appointment as commissioner was inappropriate and ineffective. NACC has no culture because it has little leadership. There is no vision communicated to stakeholders that "success looks like this". There are no charts on the wall to track progress against targets. There are no rewards for success, there is no feedback to say "we will have succeded when...". Are there any adjustments made for failures? If so, we are yet to hear of them and we have waited too long. The Royal Commissioner published the failure of numerous "institutional checks and balances". Very large chunks of the public sector have failed utterly to contain the mischief. The issues go far beyond NACC. Where is the remediation?

I see the NACC referred to as the "National Ar*e Covering Commission" and the initial Robodebt decision just supports this perception. We've seen it too many times - either stack the leadership or starve the organisation to deliver the actual desired result. As for the "external consultant" we saw exactly how that worked with Robodebt too - they provide the desired answer also. How is a citizen supposed to have any confidence in an opaque body like this?

Excellent information again from brilliant panellists. I wish more people were watching and commenting on these sessions. Fortunately there's starting to be some easily digestible forums with public faces speaking up and hopefully they will gradually increase the appetite of more concerned citizens to follow the Centre for Public Integrity and thus listen to these sessions. Once citizens start to get a sliver of an idea of what it's been like, and is like, for the significant people that the Centre for Public Integrity is bringing to our screens then the ground swell might start to rise. Please keep doing what you're doing - it's greatly appreciated by those who know about it.

“If you feel that we are secure in our legal system because nothing has gone too terribly wrong for quite a long time, turn to the Provost's' volume 'The Third Reich in Power' and read all the index references to law and lawyers and see what can happen in civilized countries when extremes take hold...including of the legal system...and you will not sleep as comfortably at night. It is truly a pretty horrifying tale.” Professor Sir Geoffrey Nice QC (Lecture at Gresham College 4 May 2016).

The 20 year process of releasing the National Archives to me is a deliberate process in policy to allow things to happen with no accountabilty till its too late. Then the National Archives still can consider wheather to keep the public out from the truth. Everything is designed to protect the Departments. Which prevents the Department from being held accountable.

The entire system is corrupted, including the judiciary. If an aggrieved person must have one of their "Boys Club" mouthpieces to be heard in their courtrooms, and to do that they need to have a spare $500K floating around, be assured, society is fast heading towards destruction.
