Can Lasik clear up near vision problems caused by a Clareon Panoptix implant?

Excellent video, I had cataract surgery on both my eyes about 5+ years ago and I've been having more problems than before. I have a black spot on both eyes that many times I can even see it. Also I have a lot of little pieces of lint that look like thin threads in both eyes. I've come to the conclusion of getting lasik surgery, first on my right eye and see if it makes a difference. If so I will have it on my left eye. I'd sincerely appreciate any response from you Dr.. Thank you very much.

Your video is a lifesaver. My doctor's office didn't explain this and after 4 miserable hours of having pointy end poking middle of my forehead I decided to check KZbin for help. Thank you for your clear, easy to follow explanation!

@@akbenyelles Both methods are used to compensate for refractive errors in the human eye. I chose not to undergo laser eye treatment but collamer lens implantation because lenses, you can take out if something goes wrong. Laser ablation can't be removed.

@@epaminon6196 from a general perspective what you say is true. But in details it does not work like that. Moreover I don’t believe in patients choosing the technique. In 99% of cases there is always a better choice than the other. In the 1% cases where eligibility is equivalent in several techniques, then the patient has an input. But the patient’s demand assessment is crucial in the choice made by the surgeon. I don’t want to dismiss the patient’s input of course
@epaminon6196

@@akbenyelles I respectfully disagree with your view on patient input. When it was time for me to choose, I had the full range of refractive methods to choose from. PRK, LASIK, SMILE and ICL. My eyes were suitable for all of them. In the end, I chose ICLs because I wanted to reserve the option of having them taken out again once I get presbyopia. ICLs also pose lower probabilities for visual side-effects. It cost me 70 percent more than PRK but I made the choice. Now I've got 20/10 vision and negligible side effects.

@@epaminon6196 fantastic result, good for you. All the four techniques give very high Performance when correctly evaluated for each patient. However, I don’t think presenting ICL implantation and removal as the “practical” way to correct once and correct again later in life is a good way of seeing (😅) things. Whereas for repeated treatments, laser on the cornea is the simplest and safest way to go in my opinion and gives as satisfying results

I had multi-focal lens implants in October then had the YAG laser and I’m due to have laser touch up in a few weeks. At this stage I wish I hadn’t started down this road but after spending £7,000 I need to see it through. Fingers crossed this works.

Great video!!!! I have a question that maybe you can weigh in on. I had cataract surgery 5 years ago & a 2.25D toric lens was used to improve my irregular astigmatism. I see 20/25 without glasses, but I see ghosting & looking at headlights is rough. Can LASIK smooth out my irregular astigmatism & match my toric lens & is PRK a better option. My cornea doctor is happy with my 20/25 results and he is leary to try to improve it, but the ghosting and multiple images and halos at night is driving me nuts. Where is your practice located? If within a days drive, maybe I could get a consult. Thanks

i started with - 2 in my 7th standard, probably due to my minidoxil injections side effect for alopecia hair loss, during follow-up stated headaches doctor said maybe due eye power charges, i couldn't even read the calendar in the clinic, found out - 2 power was present, now i'm 44 & have add +1.25 also single distance vison was so sharp, progressive lens gave me shock in the division of distance, intermediate & reading focals, still have made a single distance vison for outdoor activities comfort.

Very helpful video! Is lasik okay after having a detached retina? I’m seeing a new ophthalmologist this week and hopefully I’ll be a candidate for YAG procedure. Previous doctor never told me about PCO, I’ve been getting stronger and stronger prescriptions since about a year after cataract surgery. I’m kinda PO’d I had to learn about this on KZbin.

I don’t think you get the proper intended effect because the phone camera is always correcting lighting.. maybe have your phones focused locked in so it dosent keep automatically correcting the light?

I wear a -2.75 and a -3.75 for my astigmatism, and one eye is horizontal, the other oblique. Also a +1.75 bifocal. My astigmatism makes lights distorted and things just blurry, especially at night. Hard to describe the blur exactly.

These procedures are absolutely horrific. PRK destroyed my vision and my life and the lives of so many others. These are surgeries that damage the structure of the eye. The cornea was never meant to be cut into. I’ve heard of so many stories and met so many people who lives were destroyed my refractive eye surgery. No one needs these procedures. Anyone can wear glasses or almost anyone can wear soft contact lenses. I’d give anything to be able to go back to wearing either one. Instead I’m plagued by about a dozen vision issues because of this procedure that can not be fixed. I regret every single day of my life getting this horrific procedure. So many people have taken their lives because they cannot live with the horrific vision issues and/or severe eye pain these surgeries can cause. What other elective surgery is causing people to commit suicide? You clearly should be aware of all of this an ophthalmologist. I don’t know you can live with yourself knowing you’re making money off the suffering of others. I haven’t done the best things in my life but I could not live with myself knowing I destroyed someone’s life just to in the pursuit of making money. You people are soulless human beings with no empathy. Enjoy your money knowing you’re performing an unnecessary procedure that literally causes good people so much pain and misery. I believe in karma and what goes around comes around.

Thank you for this! I have always had astigmatism with myopia but it has gotten worse and worse over time. As a child I had lazy eye and they still can see it a little bit. I am now going on 38 and it is so scary seeing a extremely high prescription. I think I will be going to a different eye doctor for a 2nd opinion. It's not that I don't trust him I can see but I just wanna make sure that I seriously won't go blind especially as over the years it keeps getting worse and worse without glasses. I was told originally it would "settle down" in my 20s...and it hasn't

Thank you for your video! I have a mild like astigmatism -2.00-2.50 or even -3.00 on top of my myopia (-7.5 one eye -2.00 astigmatism and -11.5 another eye (with cataract now) where I have -3 astigmatism). It’s strange as before cataract the eye which is -11.5 now was -8.5 and had -2.25-2.5 astigmatism, but now it showed -3 astigmatism). I notice I see with less headache with -2.00 cyl on left eye than with -2.5 cyl where the vision is more clear and dazzling. But that’s not what is bothering me. If they put monofocal IOL lens set for distance with my astigmatism is that how I’m going to see as you show in your test? How come I can sort of see ok when I take off my glasses and bring the phone next to my nose (where I have my focus) and I can see all right (apart from that stupid fog occasionally). I can still read and watch a film without glasses on my phone and I don’t feel any astigmatism??? How am I going to see if they don’t correct astigmatism during a cataract surgery? That’s all very strange and puzzles me. I just wonder as I worry that toric lenses may not be safe or stable or that’s the only option for me?

Grateful to you for this guidance. Had my second cataract removed yesterday, here in Scotland, and have found that the paper surgical tape just won't stick to my skin. On your advice I experimented with the plastic variety and it seems to be working well. First eye done narly 2 yars ago and it has 20/20 vision now. Looking forward to having the same in my second (right) eye. It is a huge improvement for me at nearly 78 years of age - especially when driving. Such ophthalmic surgery is a blessing for one who remains an avid reader and corresponds a lot with hand-written letters. Best wishes to you and your co-practitioners.

I had left eye cataract removed about 3 days ago. The surgical center was not exactly thorough in briefing me on how to put the eye shield back on. You video filled in the gap very well. I should add that I am a CPAP user and the eye shield is a bit of an interesting annoyance for wearing a mask. Thank you.

I just had a cataract surgery 2 mos. ago and still using the same prescription glasses before my cataract surgery, I was thinking that my cataract surgery was a failure.!! I asked my doctor if I can have lasik surgery instead since my vision still the same. He said yes, no problem but I have to wait at least 3 mos after my cataract surgery! I had a lasik surgery before like 20 years ago and my vision was perfect until I got older .. and my doctor told me I have a cataract. Please advise!! Thank you so much in advance!!!!

Thanks for the helpful video. I had my second eye done today. They did not have me wear one after my first eye, but it was my right eye and I don’t sleep on my right side. However, today, 3:44 they gave me this confusing a little piece of plastic for my left eye. Your video was very helpful. One question, it seems to fit pretty close to my eye as in almost touching it. Will that be a problem?

I've had luck just with a long strip on the side near the ear and then two little peices over each end that strip of tape top and bottom if it makes sense. Most of the shield is not covered and I can see clearly to go stumbling off to the bathroom at night.
