Having seen so many videos of you using this as a drum machine. I did a little research and could only find one video of someone using it as just a drum machine. And he described the KOII as a toy. But your videos are great and you always seem to have the whacky calculator looking thing on the side making beats. So this video will be interesting.
@TheUnperson17 сағат бұрын
It looks and feels like a toy to be honest, but it make can some serious beats! 😎
@rodnee234017 сағат бұрын
@TheUnperson thanks for the honesty! I've never owned a TE device. So I think they all look a bit like a toy! 😄 but I'm panicking a bit about my future budget as from April 1st! So my gas reflex has kicked in and a need a new computer and I need to finish putting my niftykeyz together and I definitely need some out of the DAW drum device before the hard times hit!😁 So this little device is looking increasingly like a good idea. I also want a Hydra synth. Seriously I'm eating beans on toast and putting in some hours to get this system sorted! Good job I like beans on toast!😄

Do you have a write up or video describing your full rig?
@TheUnpersonКүн бұрын
I don’t unfortunately. I pretty much change my rig on a per video basis. I do have a video where I put a rack together from scratch and talk about each module: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYHLp6KnetV_Z5Isi=mmffse4CdYnT-tRi

I’ve watched plenty of videos on Pam’s and feel I have a really good understanding of how it works so I wasn’t interested in another Pam’s video but as soon as I saw it was you that uploaded I knew I had to check it out and learn some more and hear some amazing jams.
@Deedeo252 күн бұрын
Also I would definitely buy a bigger version of Pam’s with more outputs and a bigger screen. Maybe call it’s Pamela’s Big Sister or something about Pamela’s Full Body Workout.

while we are here I just want to give a massive hug and shout out to ALM. I have a MCFx2 and it had a ropey filter pot. I didn't deal with it for a while. I emailed them and sent it back for a repair. 2 days later its back in the studio and fixed. so nice to have companies like this that are so good at dealing with problems. love ALM so much. great modules and wicked vids as well. xx

Thank you for this demo! A question: I'm not sure whether you are using it as a standalone in these jams? I see the Microcosm: are you using it? And, the other device: never seen it, what is it and are you using it? Thank you!
@TheUnperson4 күн бұрын
Hey thanks! I am using the microcosm as a reverb, and the other device is the boss rps-10 ~ an old digital delay. The delay on the VL2 has a very dark character which isn’t suited to every jam, so I do use external effects sometimes.
@ModuSpaSm3 күн бұрын
@@TheUnperson Thank you for your prompt reply. I'll check that Boss RPS-10: I like the "calculator" look of it ;)
@TheUnperson3 күн бұрын
@ModuSpaSm ahh sorry, the boss is the box on the right in the opening patch. The calculator looking device is the teenage engineering KO2. I’m using it as my drum machine.

Great little recap of a powerful classic. So easy to set and forget as a clock, missing so much of the performative power! With three Pam’s and three Maths, any rack would be set for good…

It's one of those modules that I'd like to see implemented in self contained synths - at least some of it anyways.

Lovely stuff 🙏. As well as going back to 0 to generate new notes for a sequence you can also go to Reset>Seeds in the channels menu for an immediate change that respects the sequence length.

Sister module to the Pro? I use my older Pam's New workout with a PEXP-1 expander, and send 2 outs of the "new" to the "pro" to run them all for 10 outputs total. Ideal? Nah, but was better than trying to sell the old one.

My favorite thing to do with Pam’s Euclidean patterns is to use an O/A/x2 into the Pam’s CV inputs and assign them to the pattern steps & divisions to drive the pattern. Works really great for changing up drums or note sequences.
@TheUnperson17 сағат бұрын
That sounds fun! I’m definitely trying that out.

You asked about trigs to envelopes: On Pams you can set CLOCK and RESET to CV by long clicking on the knob when on the tempo. Set channels 1-4 to TRIGGER (CV*), the Envelope shape you want, and WIDTH to something around 25% or less if you want extra snappy. Now trigs on the inputs make envelopes. Next on channels 5-8 you can set the CROSS OP to HOLD, and choose the Cross Op input to the CV inputs, set them to the random S&H Shape, and LEVEL, QUANTIZE as usual. Now you have pitch outputs for each envelope. Save it as a Bank so you can get there easier.

Always thought it weird why Pam's is usually positioned on the left when it tends to modulate more at the end of chain! I do the same myself! 😅
@draconianrhythms4 күн бұрын
I found that fitting to the far right had issues with wires hitting the case (that run out of the right side). You could manage with a 2hp blank panel on the right side though.

Very nice production, as usual. The choices here were giving me strong old school Bjork vibes, sounds I wouldn’t normally gravitate to being used in really tasteful ways. It’s a good instrument that way, the right parameters to coax usability from sounds in need of some movement. You make it look easy! I liked that drum and bass piece, too, and your own imported house sounding stab was fun. Thanks!
