I was at the Grosvenor Sq Demonstration on the day, taking photographs. This was before the violence had erupted, having moved to Trafalgar Sq to take more photos. When news of the large crowds in front of the US embassy reached me in Trafalgar SQ, I returned to Grosvenor Sq. As a piece of government propaganda, the film equals anything produced in N. Korea, Islamic State or the US during the McCarthy era. The police moved in well before the any sign of violence in order to disperse and move out the protesters from the square. However, when the protesters refused to leave the square, police on horseback were called up and together with the regular police just laid into the crowd without mercy. The number of casualties mentioned in the film is hugely underestimated. There were at least around 150 protesters, men and women of all ages, that I witnessed with bloody noses, and blood streaming down their face from cuts to the head and face. Of course, years later, we had the same performance of the police laying into striking miners at Orgreave and once again, the same heavily biased reporting from the media and the BBC.

A 'war' he said. I was one of the '10,000', I thought there were more (100,000+) as we marched with the crowds along Oxford St arriving at the nearest to Grosvenor Square we could only see the US Embassy in the distance. The actual 'war' as filmed was in proximity to the Embassy - we saw none of it where we were. On the way home via Trafalgar Square we overheard a Police sergeant say 'If they give trouble kick 'em' but never saw it happen.

@plhoko You sound like a well adjusted and loving person. A true Brit. I'm sure you are at peace with inner self . No wonder you closed your account.

@agaichapter25 They were very Conservative times. "The Good Old Days" as many like to call them..a time when the female gender , race relations and many other aspects of life were not tolerated.. Today, many Brits like Pat Condell, would love to see this time re-emerge. Sometimes i forget just how right wing those times were.

@ParagramTree The commentator speaks of 'a bloody riot such as Britain has never before witnessed'. Yes I know there were riots in London pre-1968. For quite a 'recent' riot there was no riot gear or tear gas available at all. The ferocity of this riot was something quite new.

This is probably the first time in the history of the UK where people openly FOUGHT the police. Note the complete lack of riot gear etc, it had never happened before.....

Oh dear what a weak link. Airliners crashing into tall buildings has long been a genuine concern. Oh and I like the way the original sound designer thought they'd use football crowd sounds for the riot in trafalgar/grovesner square...

'The hate makers'! Yeah well - you can tell by his tone of voice that the man's just overflowing with love. ' . . . a demonstration of peace ended in war in the heart of London'. Now there's a man who's never been near a war or even ever thought hard about a war might look like!

Condaleeza Rice after 9/11 was like: We never imagined people would use planes as weapons! Nice cover-up. Check out operation Northwoods. The US wanted to do that in Miami and blame it on Castro. Or come on, never hear of a Kamikaze pilot? Or we used B-17 bombers as weapons in WWII. And the Lone Gunmen pilot had a jetliner almost crash into the WTC by remote just a couple months before 9/11

the music destroyed whatever you were trying to establish with this video. pitty as it looked like i may have put together a great piece of footage its a shame so many amature video makers resort to such rediculous soundtracks it would have been so much better with natural sounds or even none at all.
