There was a great episode of a podcast I love (The Big Picture) where the host interviewed Tracy Letts, notable actor, and both are enthusiastic physical media collectors. Both of them acknowledged that their passion for collecting is, without a doubt, a mild form of mental illness.

I don't trust anyone that voted for Led Zeppelin or The Who. That's just wacky. I don't really hate a band, but I'd say Red Hot Chili Peppers are probably overrated.

They were only mentioned once or twice. But I find it fascinating. To each their own.

I share in your irrational anger. Thanks for saying it, even if you are just preaching to the choir. How people can get it so wrong, dismissing the other 16 hits and a huge, fantastic catalog of great songs, just boggles the mind. Rick doesn't get the respect he deserves. Have you seen the stage adaptation of Rick's memoir? Australian playwright Kieran Carroll did a beautiful job. He's woven many of Rick's hits into the one-man musical, but he also included a good representation of deeper cuts that help tell Rick's story. Check out the promo, and then check out the original music of its performer, Jackson Carroll from Sydney. His portrayal of Rick definitely gives the respect that he deserves. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKvFaJJ6mNdkjcUsi=Sut8JxPFrJfUTqWL

Just goes to show how little research people do for their channels. Rick Springfield was HUGE!!! His time with Zoot is pretty much what landed him a record deal. Rick and one hit wonder. 🤣🤣🤣 They need to get out from under their rocks a bit more.

Thank you for doing this video. RS is a very talented singer/songwriter and unfortunately most of the general public thinks he's a one hit wonder and a teen idol. Maybe my all time favorite artist along with Elton John, Billy Joel, and Hall and Oates.

Off the top of my head and some of these are also on my all time top 10 list: The Cars- debut album Hall and Oates- Private Eyes John Mellencamp- Scarecrow Boston-debut album Eagles-On the Border The Babys-Union Jacks Eddie Money-No Control Loverboy-Just Getting Started Rick Springfield-Living in Oz Elton John-Breaking Hearts I'm sure I'll think about other ones after I click on this but these are all great albums with no filler in my opinion

@@sidefour Love RS! have all his albums and I'll have to check out your video on him. Unfortunately he gets no respect just because he acted in a soap opera and is good looking. I've been told Haifa, too. The lead vocals on "Nothin' To Lose"? Eric AND Gene, that was wrong. I think we were even in score, but in different misses. I missed the Unmasked cover photo about who said what. I "missed" Haifa, but I don't think I did. Don't remember what else once we went into the speed round.
@sidefour10 күн бұрын
I looked it up afterwards just to verify and everywhere says Haifa. So that one was just flat out wrong. The Nothin’ to Lose question, I didn’t even realize Gene was singing with Eric on that on Unplugged. And really, the most defining vocal on that song is Pete’s.

LA woman album first. Then The Soft Parade(the song). When you realize that the keyboardist is playing the bass too at the same time for 90% of the songs, it will blow your mind
@PopCultureCast12 күн бұрын
So it looks like LA Woman and the first album are ones most people think I should dig into. Appreciate the suggestions. Also, a lot of hate for Pink Floyd and KISS!
@stevem224512 күн бұрын
I'd say start with LA woman then.... The Soft Parade (Songs 3,7,8 and 9), then Waiting for the Sun (Song 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 3) then you'll get it and youll start from the 1st album... A lot of the best songs, you won't ever hear on the radio and some of their greatest hits that are most known don't give the band justice. When you realize that 90% of the songs have the organist (Ray) playing the bass at the same time from a keyboard, it will blow your mind.

I would agree about Abbey Road if it weren't for the inclusion of the infamous Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I derive a bit of amusement out of it if for no other reason, the other 3 hated it. The thought of Ringo and Harrison slaving away on it take after take, which MACCA insisted on, is hysterical. If Isn't It A Pity, for example, had been included, instead of Maxwell, then I would agree, as close to perfection as one could get. What I don't get is, if the vote was 3-1 against Maxwell, how did it make the cut.
@sidefour14 күн бұрын
That’s a good point. Though in this case I’m on McCartney’s side simply because it’s such a stupid song that I love it!

@@sidefour The one track I've always loved that fans can't stand is Wild Honey Pie. I'm a Beefheart fan, so I dig it. I'll bet MACCA was listening to Beefheart in those days, was inspired.
