That single loop could pull straight out, it’s good practice to put in 2 loops

Thats the Transom Knot. Its a way of applying a Constrictor Knot for securly and quickly lashing crossed rods together. Can be drawn up tight with two spikes through temporary Marlingspike Hitches, and then the ends trimmed.

Loop on each end, put it over each end corner of box at bottom, the way you showed will be banging into your legs as you walk.
