Respected Dr Parvez Hoodbhoy ! you very well understand that-- Physics is the" study of Nature". And Nature is God, who has created this universe. And we scientists only discover these hidden,preformed secrets. Take theory of relativity, kinetics,gravitation, thermodynamics,Electricity and all physicochemicobiological science processes which are only being discovered and continue to be discovered gradually,. .Sanatan dharma or Hinduism very well integrates and correlates religion with science and vice versa. I personally think that the maulvis and scholars have deliberately modified Islam into very rigid and stereoscopic faith,which could otherwise proved to be a great religion worldwide.A relative resilience and adaptability to surroundings should be practised to progress in Allah's universe.

Dr Hoodbhai , your comments on Allama Iqbal are not fair, to say the least. I am from Tamilnadu and Allama ' s vision of the need for educating Muslims of the subcontinent in the fields of STEM is well documented in the biography of Allama Iqbal. Few comments of Allama on Einstein's Theory of Relativity and Zeno' s work on Mathematics do not detract Allama ' s vision of Muslim Ummah as a Scientific and Technically advanced community. When he was offered the position of Vice Chancellor of a university in North India, he politely refused pointing out that the Ummah in need to master STEM and he was by training a philosopher and not competent to head an educational institution created for Ummah. His concept of Khudi , you have not understood it in proper perspective: becoming what one is capable of becoming, including a scientist and technocrat. You Pakistanis ' are so obsessed with India, you start comparing apples with oranges. For heaven's sake, Pakistan is a petty country when compared to my country. Pakistan ' s economy is pittance when compared to 3 trillion Dollar economy. During the Mughal period India's economy had a quarter of the world's GDP with a population of around 10% of the global population. It was a mercantile economy. Industrialization did not take root even in England. I agree with you that Pandit Nehru' s internalisation of the scientific spirit that galvanized the Indian economy and produced a pool of scientific community in India. The answer to your question is why the scientific spirit had not developed in Pakistan lies in your politicians and bureaucrats who are not wedded to the spirit of enquiry advocated by the 25% of the Holy Quran and certainly not in Individuals like Allama Iqbal and Sir Syed Ahmed. Your search for answers is mis-directional..

Its very simple that minorities whether ethnic minority, racial minority , or reiligious minority they demand seperation from majority . But yes Bangladesh is the only country which sought independance from minority that minority of west Pakistan is suppressing us .

First Jinnah was not a foresighted or shrewd politician and he demanded independant state for Muslim majority provinces at very last stage i.e in 1940's without any much detailed planning or vision . But still he equivocally declared it secular state in his first speech . Whereas Congress and Nehru has very old roots and had detailed plan and vision for India. But cant we decide now after 70 years of experience that what state and system we must have after this so much experience instead of bothering about that what Jinnah want . Every leader has time bound role and his role ended with making of Pakistan . Dr . Pervaz please countries cant be run by poets and poetry nor system can be made on ashar ( verses) which many times base on populism . If you read Iqbal's poetry , its full of conflicts bcz its poetry not any scholarly research .

Sara poetry was not as much understood n appreciated as it deserved. Reason been her exception creativity, new candid n bold style of expression, punjabi language, subject of her poetry which were far ahead of her time, she wrote poems on sexual abuse rape poverty hunger expliotation of women body, women liberty, lust brutalities n expliotation of patriarchial society n the spiritually bankruptcy of intellectuals. These r not the popular urdu poetry contents. Similarly her life sexuality n mental state too was not well understood. I feel behind her sensational explicit sexual behaviour n non conformist living style was rebellion against the abusive fake n tormenting society which she had experienced from childhood. Sex for her was a sort of compulsive pleasureless act. A mental health issue like her depression n suicide.
