If you want a team that plays with discipline, then the coach has to display it as well. There are enough low level teams in Serie A that he can plan to have games where Pulisic, Fofana, Morata, Theo, etc. can sit so that they have a rest game every 5 or 6 matches. You need to do this when you play Tuesday & Saturday every week. Otherwise, you end up with tired, unmotivated performances like they had this match and against Monza. It doesn't matter if the players replacing them don't have their exact skill set, they can slot into their position and produce a result. This is another reason to play 5 at the back. A defensive counterattack system is better at masking the limitations of individual players like we saw against Madrid.

This match exposed one dimensional attack tactics. Our all the attacks were going through left which left other attackers like Puli & Chuq with less balls. Too rarely they used to recive balls especially whenver opposition wanted to regain shape. Caligri allowed us to attack from left without attacking right side which saved Emerson ass today. This approach resulting Reijn & theo too forward which opened space for opposition to counter attack. Fofana & center backs got exoosed too badly because of this. Respect for the calegri for this tactical brilliance & I'm sure future many clubs use this same tactics to win points against us. If we look at the big clubs they attack from all the sides which pressurises opposition to defend from every sides & same time positional awareness very must. Puli plays at the center but he never recives the ball to dictate the attack which allows opposition to crowd players at the left to win the ball & once they win we will be backfoot. Watching this game so im really confused with theo what is he doing he trying to almost play as a winger and never dropping back to defend which is forcing fofana back and opening a gap in the midfield which is also pushing leao more central which we doesn't prefer. So far from the first half I'm watching hes the weaks link even more so than royal.

As someone who watches Madrid a lot (for years) the win in Spain was kind of like a “false” result of sorts. Madrid has only been able to convincingly beat teams that don’t have a good quality offensive power (like Osasuna today and basically 85% of Spanish teams because they’re all ass let’s be honest) because their shit defense and wonky midfield don’t get exposed if they’re not even being properly attacked. Of course beating Madrid for any team is always a nice feeling and it’s a confidence boost but… how much of it is a confidence boost when it’s a Madrid that can’t even beat Lillie. It’s a Madrid that don’t know wtf they’re doing 90% of the time, rely heavily on individualism, rely too much on Courtois saves, and have no set tactical system (they’ve literally changed from 4-2-2, to 4-3-3, to diamond so many times because Ancelotti still hasn’t figured anything out). I just knew that this result in Spain, although a confidence boost, was only going to be used as an excuse or as a blinding effect to not really fix any on going issues from a coaching perspective and get milked by the management because “hey we beat Madrid”. But anyways. I just never thought that the win against Madrid should be weighed as heavily as it got weighed because they’re a shitty mess this season. But hey at least Leão is gaining some form back.

It blows my mind that Fonseca transforms AC Milan into a team that looks amazing against Madrid and then in the press conference says that Seríe A is different so instead of attempting the same system that worked well in a different kind of match he opted to pick up system that has yet to work for him at all. Sure serie a is different but clearly 4-2-3-1 isn’t working and that 3-4-3 would have at least been worth a shot. Also chukuku has been in decent form other than this game but I really don’t think pulisic can play the 10. I’m not sure why but he’s much better as a winger that sometimes comes in rather then all ways being in the middle

This team is bipolar Alex hahaha, what else can I say. Fonseca and the backline deserve a lot of criticism for dropping points vs Caligari. We can blame aerial duels but defensive positioning was terrible and that’s how we conceded the three goals.

Fonsesca wasn’t my favourite coach for Milan but I have to admit one thing I like about him is the fact that he isn’t scared to use young players, with Pioli we would never see Camarda playing from the start or the change of formation when is needed.
