I just ordered the new CAT Noah 6mm to run on 6 ARC and 5.56. Sounds like it should be excellent for 22 ARC, as well. You should check it out and see how it compares to Huxwrx. Based on the performance of CAT's 30 cal cans, it should be noticeably quieter without adding pressure.

I would agree that 6mm max and 6mm arc are not in the same category in terms of use case and comparison between the two isn't very feasible. 6mm max ideally should be pushed as the superior alternative to 5.56 as opposed to trying to solve a problem with 6mm arc which is in fact there, but not a big enough deal to warrant introducing a new cartridge in hopes of competing in that small frame gasser DMR category. It is frustrating that 6 arc has two loadings for gas guns and bolt guns respectively, but it is the superior long range cartridge in comparison to the max. I suppose that's the price we'll have to pay as opposed to having to carry around a heavy 308 gasser which is going transonic at around 900 yards... you can't have your cake and eat it. However, the 6 max's lack of extractor problems and magazine compatibility make it a great competitor to 5.56, but at the end of the day unless the DOD and eventually NATO says we want a paradigm shift away for 5.56 ; investing heavily in 6mm max right now would be foolish.

I like the long neck of the 17rem...more seating flexibility..possibly better barrel throat life..
@misterlewgee88744 күн бұрын
I thought 17rem came from 222 magnum case. Never had reloading issue with cases... neck size only... occasionally redding body die. If foxing, 25 gn probably better. 20gn can drop fox at 300yards...but can also splash on a shoulder at 200yards...
@txpredatorhunting4 күн бұрын
My understanding is 223 is parent case. 222rem is parent case to 223 rem as well as 222 rem mag. 25 gr Berger was my favorite for fox out of all the projectiles I tested .
@misterlewgee88744 күн бұрын
@@txpredatorhunting might be time to research... 222mag parent to 223...perhaps. Also 204..maybe... I've not heard of 204-17...I'm interested in wildcats...but..the expense of tooling up reloading gear is prohibitive...for possibly slight gains... generally. A shorter 257ai case geared for 75gn with varget would be interesting for me...a shorter case so less empty space...foxes on windy nights..25cal might have less barrel wear...
@misterlewgee88744 күн бұрын
The "internet" does cite the 223 as the parent case of 17rem...but...it has been pointed out that is you to y make a 17rem from 223...you'll come up short...thus..222Magnum However..great to get some attention on the 17rem. Love it for foxing and fur collection and very mild recoil...which I appreciate for accurate shooting.....I've come to learn and experience.

The 25 grain v-max has great bc but I am worried about splashing on coyotes. Does anyone have any experience with them? It’s getting harder to find the good hollow points and the bc sucks on them. Last I heard Berger and Hornady discontinued their good hollow points. I was able to get some hsm with the good Berger a while back. So they might still make some for manufacturers

Appreciate this wade ! Tone of people talk about .17rem but like no video on it. Curious though, have you guys at ally considered making custom bullets ? I found one guy currently making what people consider "premium" coyote bullets in .17 cal. And some of the other small calibers. Think yall would corner the market especially if you made them easy to order, since moat of the custom guys where/are call or mail in orders only. Yall probably already have enough goin on but yall know exactly what a good predator bullet needs to be so... Also the KAK 17-5.56 is bad ass as hell. Just run my brass in a lee .223 die without the expander then though the .17-5.56 and boom. No fancy neck turning or anything. You will get crushing if you go from once fired to .17 though. Evwn more with new or annealed brass without the gutted .223 step down.

Two different pressure loadings for 6 mm Arc is an accident waiting to happen. Two different pressure loadings for 22 Arc is a accident waiting to happen. You can get a 22-250 with a tighter twist rate and it beats a 22 arc. Who doesn't like new cartridges? People who got to spend a ton of money and high price to buy something that's not readily available basically no different than what they already have.

First came traps to catch our food, then came spears and knives and the bow & arrow. Later came the GUN. Each weapon allowed humans to extend the ranges at which they can take animals for food. ONLY a FOOL would suggest that you should only use a GUN to take game animals at bow & arrow ranges. Only a wussy-boy liberal karen would suggest that. The rifle is purpose built to take game animals at long ranges. It's up to the SHOOTER to practice and build the experience needed to take games at ranges farther than a bow & arrow can reach. Ethics plays NO part in this. I intend to KILL an animal, I don't care about ethics. If I did, I'd eat Soy Lattes and buy Venison flavored Tofu online.

Vortex is doing what Sig Sauer does with their 365 line. They are making so many different types of sub category scopes. This scope is what happens when the Razor LHT and the Strike Eagle have a baby. I love Vortex, but I wish they would upgrade the models they already have instead of putting two new letters behind an existing model.

I knew you were gonna do it! A stock before a quality optic or more importantly a properly headspaced bolt riding inside a carrier with a true concentric bore? What the hell! And you say a suppressor? Come on now what are we even talking about here? I would sooner take my f-class championship hand loaded ammo Even if it meant I had to shoot just the barreled action with no stock. As far as suppressors go there's no way I would put one on a gun that I built for precision work only... Of course it would be detrimental to your accuracy. When has hanging a pound off the end of your barrel ever increased accuracy in a gun? Unless by some queer chance you perfected the harmonics in the barrel somehow by adding it of course it's not going to help! If you insist that a suppressor has never made a gun shoot worse, maybe you could give me some examples of some of the names of guys who use them in the PRS series or maybe bench rest or f class? Fucking suppressor get outta here! New shooters this is why it's important to get as many opinions as you can on a topic such as precision shooting. After you get enough of them (opinions) the bullshit will separate itself from the useful information.

Ended up stripping It down and lapping a bcm thermal fit reciever and reassembling it and the first 3 groups were all around 3/4 inch at 100yards. In this case that's all it was.

I'm highly intrigued by the 6Max people keep wanting to compare it to the 6 Arc To find its viability but what I think they're missing is This has the potential to be the 556 that she told you not to worry about. Imagine being able to throw out 80 grain projectiles out of 12.5 barrel with the same velocities as a 18-in 556 gun running 55's! You get a better BC than 556 you run the same bolt and lower pressures. That's where this thing shines IMO. I'm definitely intrigued my use case would primarily be night time/thermal hunting.. But It intrigues me from a military standpoint that you could get some serious overmatch on a 556 with a little more than a barrel and magazine swap
